Note:  This post is about the possible demise of Little Donny….I am by no means wishing for such a scenario (I write that to protect my ass)….it is just a basic ‘what if’….that’s all.

I know there has been lots written about the health of Donny….some have even speculated that he will not make his 4 years in office but I would like to look into this subject and what we could expect if he does not make it.

First let’s look at his life expectancy…..

It’s tough to scroll through social media without hearing opinions (and dire predictions) about Donald Trump’s health, but what are the clear facts? Will the twice-elected POTUS continue to receive “excellent” medical reports like the one released by the White House in April 2025, or is it more complicated than that? Are troubles looming?

To determine whether he’s likely to have life-threatening health problems, we should first look at what he does right, and a good place to start is his decision to swear off drinking alcohol. Trump reportedly chose to be a teetotaler because his older brother died from alcoholism in his early 40s. He even admitted at a National Faith Summit (via The Independent), “I think I have the type of personality where I probably would have a problem.”

Is having a little alcohol now and then really bad for you, though? A 2022 study in Scientific Reports looked at the health records of more than 400,000 adults and discovered that those who drank alcohol regularly could expect to shorten their lifespan by 6.9 years. Although people who drank just one alcoholic beverage a day seemed to gain one year of life, they were at higher risk of cancer, which negated the benefit. Consequently, Trump’s refusal of alcohol may give him a win.

There you have the pros and cons of his life….

But let’s say he passes while in office….what will be the first thing we hear?

What Happens When a President Dies?

The U.S. Constitution is clear on the matter of presidential succession. If a president were to die, the vice president would step into the role immediately, per the Mirror.

Article II, Section 1, Clause 6 of the Constitution states: “In Case of the Removal of the President from Office, or of his Death, Resignation, or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the said Office, the Same shall devolve on the Vice President.”

In practice, this means the Vice President becomes the acting President right away, taking the oath of office at the earliest possible moment.

This ensures there is no leadership vacuum during a national crisis or transition.

So the first thing you will hear, should Trump pass away within the next three years, is JD Vance taking the oath.

Let’s say Uncle Donny craps out while in office….what will happen?

he US Constitution has clear instructions for what happens when a president dies or is incapable of continuing to do the job: their vice president takes over.

It states: “In Case of the Removal of the President from Office, or of his Death, Resignation, or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the said Office, the Same shall devolve on the Vice President, and the Congress may by law provide for the Case of Removal, Death, Resignation or Inability, both of the President and Vice President, declaring what Officer shall then act as President, and such Officer shall act accordingly, until the Disability be removed, or a President shall be elected.”

Basically, that means if Trump croaks it, then the power of his office passes to his VP JD Vance, who will take over as president.

This has happened several times in American history as eight presidents have died in office, four of natural causes and four were assassinated and in each case their VP succeeded them as president.

So Donald Trump’s continuing health is the only thing between the US and President JD Vance.  (There is another scary thought)

The new president is sworn in as soon as possible and gets to pick his cabinet, they could keep their former colleagues or replace them with whomever they like, and they can also choose a new vice president since that job will available in this situation.

Both houses of Congress have to approve the new VP pick.

If Donald Trump happened to die between now and 1 August this year then JD Vance would become the youngest US president in history.

That accolade is currently held by a former vice president whose president died in office, as Theodore Roosevelt was 42 when William McKinley was assassinated.

Vance is currently 41, so he could still become the youngest person ever to be US president.

How many times have you heard that in your lifetime?

As much as one may not like this slogan it is true….in the past year billionaires fortunes have shot up 81%….last year alone they shot up 16%….and it ain’t over yet.

Billionaires are entering 2026 wealthier and more numerous than ever, even as global poverty progress stalls, according to a new Oxfam report timed to the World Economic Forum in Davos. The charity says billionaire wealth hit a record $18.3 trillion last year, climbing 16% or $2.5 trillion, with more than 3,000 individuals in the club, per CNBC. Since 2020, their fortunes have grown 81%, or $8.2 trillion—enough to eliminate global poverty 26 times—while overall poverty levels have remained roughly where they stood in 2019, per the Guardian. The report, titled “Resisting the Rule of the Rich: Protecting Freedom from Billionaire Power,” argues that concentrated wealth increasingly translates into political and media influence.

It points to Elon Musk’s role in the US administration, Jeff Bezos’ ownership of the Washington Post, and French billionaire Vincent Bolloré’s control of the news outlet CNews as examples. “The outsized influence that the super-rich have over our politicians, economies and media has deepened inequality and led us far off track on tackling poverty,” said Oxfam Executive Director Amitabh Behar. Oxfam also highlights President Trump’s 2025 tax package, which it says delivered notable breaks for high earners, including an estimated 3% income boost for those making more than $1 million, while many Americans struggle to cover basic needs; about 10% lived in poverty in 2024, while a 2023 study found most can no longer afford a “minimal quality of life.”

Beyond the US, Oxfam connects economic strain to social unrest, referencing more than 140 significant anti-government protests across 68 countries last year. The organization urges governments to adopt national inequality-reduction plans, increase taxes on the ultra-wealthy, strengthen barriers between money and politics, and protect free expression. Without such moves—and with rich nations cutting foreign aid “further and faster than before,” including the shuttering of USAID—Oxfam warns that as many as 14 million additional people could die by 2030. “Being economically poor creates hunger. Being politically poor creates anger,” Behar said.

Last Week At The Sh*t Show–08Feb26

It was a typical week at the Sh*t Show…..crap in and crap out….

Big News–Today is Super Bowl 60 and the MAGA morons will have an alt halftime show…..and line-up is….

As announced on its website, the All American Halftime Show will include performances from the likes of Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett – but people haven’t taken the news well.

Ever heard of any of these douche bags?  And will Kid do his song about under-aged girls?

Another big story of the week was still the clusterf*ck in Minneapolis and the documentary about Melania….it opened to mix reviews…..depending on the source.

Then there is the Kennedy Center…..performers have been bailing like a sinking ship so what does Donny do?

It looks as if Donald J. Trump, president of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and also, incidentally, the United States of America, will not have to worry about the latest rage among the artistic set canceling upcoming performances at the nation’s crown jewel of an arts space. That’s because he’s closing the Center himself for the next two years. No Kennedy Center, no performers wounding his fragile ego by loudly pulling out of performances or moving their operas elsewhere. Genius!

Trump made the announcement in a long, ranty post (Is there any other kind for him?) on his vanity social media site Sunday night, at the same moment musical artists at the Grammys were using their awards acceptance speeches to denounce his administration for its Gestapo immigration enforcement tactics. Coincidence? We wouldn’t put it past Trump to purposefully interrupt the music industry’s biggest night to tell any musicians and other artists who have pulled out of shows at the Kennedy: You didn’t cancel on Trump, Trump cancelled on you!

A newly surfaces memo….

A newly surfaced Trump administration memo has been deemed “outrageous,” per an analysis from Bloomberg, for paving the way to turn federal agents into “an all-powerful police force” for the president.

The memo, first reported on by the New York Times, pertains to officers with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and authorizes them to make arrests of anyone they suspect of being undocumented, without the need for a warrant and without providing any proof that the individual is a flight risk. Breaking down the details for Bloomberg, legal scholar Noah Feldman decried the memo as an attempt not merely to exploit “loopholes” in the system, but to fundamentally rewrite the law itself.

There is something deeply American about the idea of a suffering class.

From the outset, America has maintained the unspoken Constitutional fine print that the poor must stay poor. That’s the logic behind gated communities, redlining, and predatory lending. It’s what emboldens residents to question Blacks about whether they live in the building.

So when Donald Trump says housing prices should stay high to protect homeowners, he isn’t offering a bold economic vision — he’s repeating one of the oldest scripts in the country: protect wealth at the top and call it fairness.

And then he said the quiet part out loud: “People that own their homes, we’re gonna keep them wealthy. We’re gonna keep those prices up,” he said. “We’re not gonna destroy the value of their homes so that somebody who didn’t work very hard can buy a home.”

The New York Times reports a band of cryptocurrency investors benefiting from President Donald Trump’s lax crypto trading laws have built a 15-foot tall, gold-covered statue of President Trump.

“It’s known as ‘Don Colossus,’ reports the New York Times. “… Mounted on its 7,000-pound pedestal, is about the height of a two-story building — a giant effigy cast in bronze and finished with a thick layer of gold leaf.”

The group of cryptocurrency investors paid a sculptor $300,000 to create it as a tribute to Trump. Then they used it to promote a memecoin called $PATRIOT,” reports the Times. The investors originally wanted the statue to be even taller. Trump and his family have enjoyed a personal windfall from crypto-related enterprises since Trump began wiping away crypto-related regulations.

Finally Uncle Donny has given the go ahead on UFO info…..

The Trump Administration has given the green light to reveal the secret UFO facilities to one of the leading voices in Congress calling for full disclosure of alien life.

US Congressman Eric Burlison of Missouri revealed that he has requested and been granted access to secure locations, such as Area 51, which have decades-old ties to UFOs and secret government projects.

Speaking on the ALN Podcast, Burlison added that the request to President Trump and his staff included visiting US military bases and facilities where evidence suggests unidentified craft, materials, bodies, or archives allegedly exist.

Burlison is a member of the congressional oversight committee involved in the ongoing investigation into Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAPs), commonly known as UFOs.

Although the US government and the Pentagon have officially denied that there has been any physical evidence of UFOs or alien life ever recovered, Congress has heard from multiple whistleblowers claiming secret programs have covered up the truth.

In fact, Burlison has previously claimed President Trump has been ‘fully briefed’ on the existence of aliens, UFOs recovered by the military since the 1940s, and alien-human hybrids allegedly living on Earth today.

For me the big news story was all that plastic in the Pacific…..

In a world where the scale of plastic pollution can feel overwhelming, 2025 brought a milestone worth celebrating: The Ocean Cleanup, a Dutch nonprofit dedicated to removing plastic from marine environments, pulled more than 25 million kilograms of waste from global waters last year alone. That’s over 55 million pounds or about 2,000 garbage trucks’ worth of plastic that is no longer drifting through our oceans.

A long-running Swedish study has found that middle-aged and older adults who ate higher amounts of full-fat cheese and cream had a lower risk of developing dementia. While the results may sound encouraging, researchers stress that they should be interpreted with caution.

The study tracked 27,670 people over a 25-year period, during which 3,208 participants were diagnosed with dementia. Among individuals without a known genetic risk for Alzheimer’s disease, consuming more than 50 grams of full-fat cheese each day was associated with a 13%–17% lower risk of Alzheimer’s. This association was not observed in participants who carried genetic risk factors for the disease.

Higher intake of full-fat cream showed a similar pattern. People who consumed more than 20 grams per day had a 16%–24% lower overall risk of dementia. In contrast, the researchers found no meaningful links between dementia risk and consumption of low-fat or high-fat milk, fermented or non-fermented milk, or low-fat cream.

One of the newest fads is those injectable drugs to help with weight loss….but are they all that and more?

Ozempic and Wegovy drugs may seem like a quick road to weight loss, but doctors say that short-term framing can be a problem. The Wall Street Journal presents a slew of metrics that show the standout benefits of GLP-1s are quickly reversed once they’re no longer taken:

  • Almost 1 in 5 US adults have tried a GLP-1 for weight loss. About 50% quit taking it within 12 months.
  • Studies show most people regain much of the weight within about 18 months, and they put the pounds back on four times faster than those who lose weight through lifestyle interventions.
    • BMJ review of weight-loss studies found people lost an average of 32 pounds using a GLP-1 but regained 21 pounds within a year of stopping the drug.
    • All the blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood-glucose level benefits the drugs bestow reverse in about the same timeline: When people stopped taking the GLP-1, their levels were back at baseline within 1.4 years.
    • Kevin Hall, formerly of the National Institutes of Health, explains appetite is a big factor: When you lose weight, your appetite increases; GLP-1s blunt the food noise, “but once you’re off the drugs and lost so much weight, your appetite is much higher than it was to begin with” and your metabolism has slowed.
    • So is it foolish to start a GLP-1 if you don’t plan to be on it for good? Not exactly, says obesity-medicine specialist Dr. Robert Kushner. “I would never say to them there’s no point in starting, but I will tell them right up front we have to start thinking of the day after stopping now.”
    • But the stats that Dr. Michelle Hauser, obesity medicine director of the Stanford Lifestyle and Weight Management Center, shares with the New York Times aren’t particularly encouraging: She estimates less than 10 of her patients have maintained at least 75% of their weight loss after stopping their GLP-1 without opting for bariatric surgery or another medication. “Those are people that are working out two hours a day, tracking what they’re eating, they’re really working hard,” she said. “I haven’t had anyone that just tapers off, isn’t really putting that much thought into it, and just keeps the weight off. I’ve never seen that happen.”
    • The Times notes that Oprah Winfrey has been public about experiencing this very thing. In a December interview with People, she said she stopped her GLP-1 “cold turkey” after taking it for about six months. “I tried to beat the medication,” she said, and despite exercising and eating a healthy diet, she regained 20 pounds in a year, leading her to realize that taking the drug would “be a lifetime thing.”

Dems Want To Know What Went Wrong

About two and half years out from the 2028 election and the Dems want to know why they lost to madman Donny in 2024.

They put together a strategy to find out what happened and how to find younger voters.  (This ought to be good)

Democrats are launching a new program Wednesday to try to reach voters in their corner who opted to stay home in 2024 instead of voting against then-candidate Donald Trump, as the party continues its search for its identity in the second Trump era.

The Democratic National Committee program — details of which were shared first with POLITICO — targets over a million voters they view as likely Democrats in battleground House districts who voted in 2020 but didn’t vote four years later.

The large-scale voter contact operation called “Local Listeners” is a tacit acknowledgement of one of the ways Democrats fell short in 2024, when then-Vice President Kamala Harris failed to engender enough enthusiasm from likely Democrats frustrated with the Biden administration’s economic agenda and its handling of the war between Israel and Hamas.

“We didn’t lose to Donald Trump. We lost to the couch,” DNC Deputy Executive Director Libby Schneider said in an interview. “We saw our voters, many of our important voters, stay home. Obviously, that is a trend that cannot continue.”

A key element of the strategy, according to the party, will be training volunteers to engage infrequent voters with a “listening first” approach that prioritizes “active listening” and “having difficult conversations about politics.”

Part of President Donald Trump’s winning strategy included engaging with unlikely voters his campaign identified as being potential Republicans. Trump aggressively courted people who had skipped previous elections, focusing predominantly on young men, and ultimately defeated Harris among voters who skipped the previous midterm and presidential elections.

A Very Good Day

I have good days and bad here on IST but yesterday was one of my best in awhile….I had 1322 views with each a total average of 1.91 views per click.

Recently I have been getting more traffic but few participants that is the only part of this that is troubling.

So far today, it is 0700, the total views is 504 so off to another good start.

The ICE Saga Continues

Yes we are still on this…..why?  Because the prez has weaponized a personal army within the DHS and it is getting worse and more blatant in its tactics.

But they say because of the shooting deaths in Minneapolis the reform of tactics will be forthcoming.

Will it?

It will begin with the recall of ICE agents…..

In the aftermath of the slayings in Minneapolis of two civilians, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, and the mass protests that ensued, Trump’s border czar has announced he’s withdrawing 700 ICE agents from the city. Trump himself has also indicated his administration is backing down from its hardline tactics.

A disturbing finding in the Edelman survey is that 40 per cent of respondents approve of one or more hostile actions to bring about change. This includes “attacking people online, intentionally spreading disinformation, threatening of committing violence, damaging public or private property.”

This willingness to take hostile action is the highest I have seen in my 45 years of research into public order and protest. It is far higher than numbers found in the 2017-22 World Values Survey of 102 countries that asked five questions about political action.

In that survey, only 35 per cent globally said they “might” get involved in a peaceful protest, while 46 per cent “would never.” In Canada, 48 per cent said they would get involved in a peaceful protest; 29 per cent would never. In the U.S., 55 per cent of respondents reported they “might” and 34 per cent wouldn’t.

President Donald Trump revealed that his administration has a list of at least five American cities they hope to target after the immigration operation in Minneapolis.

In a sit-down interview with NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Llamas on Wednesday, Feb. 4, Trump was asked about the Department of Homeland Security’s controversial handling of immigration enforcement — including the recent shooting deaths of U.S. citizens Renee Good and Alex Pretti at the hands of federal agents, and whether he believes their deaths were justified.

“No. I don’t. I — it should’ve not happened,” Trump, 79, replied. “It was a very sad — to me it was a very sad incident, two incidents.”

Those are the complaining words of Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R–La.), who was voicing his support for the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which now claims that its agents have the right to forcibly enter private homes without first obtaining a warrant signed by a judge. According to ICE, its agents may forcibly enter homes in certain immigration enforcement contexts based merely on a so-called “administrative warrant,” which is not actually a warrant at all, but is rather just a piece of paper signed by someone in the executive branch.

To fully appreciate the inherent lawlessness of the Johnson view, simply replace the phrase “getting a judicial warrant” with any constitutional requirement that you like in the above-quoted statement. For example:

  • “Imagine if we had to go through the process of guaranteeing freedom of speech.”
  • “Imagine if we had to go through the process of respecting the right to keep and bear arms.”
  • “Imagine if we had to go through the process of paying just compensation when private property is taken for a public use.”

You get the idea.

When a government mouthpiece complains that it would be too difficult to follow the commands of the Constitution in a given context, that’s a dead giveaway that the government is already violating (or planning to violate) the commands of the Constitution in that context.

“Idiocracy” Is Coming True!

About ten years ago I went to see a film by Mike Judge about the decline of the American people into a dystopian future where the population became idiots.  The movie was ‘Idiocracy’.

Since then I have watched their view of the future become more and more prophetic.

And now the news is not very encouraging abut the mental make-up of the people of this country….

For the first time in recorded human history, scientists have discovered a generation they claim is actually less intelligent than the one that came before it.

Neuroscientist Dr Jared Cooney Horvath, who previously worked as an educator, argues that people in Gen Z have become cognitively stunted as a result of their over-reliance on new technology, like smartphones.

With records being kept on academic achievement for the past 200 years, this sudden decline from Millennials to Gen Zers was attributed to this rapid digital development, with Dr Horvath explaining before a Senate committee last month that this drop happened despite young people spending longer than ever in school.

Gen Z are the first age group to grow up with easy access to the internet both at home and in school, which Dr Horvath explained has caused a provable loss in skills related to problem solving, reading, memory, math, and paying attention in class.

The Mail reports that Horvath told the Commerce, Science, and Transportation committee that this is directly tied to the rise of ‘educational technology’ in school, where teachers rely on tablets or computers in school as part of the learning process.

The neuroscientist claimed that humans had not developed over the course of millions of years of evolution to digest short video clips and sentences and convert them into understanding and memory, without having to work at a novel or think through a complex idea.

On January 15, Horvath told the committee: “More than half of the time a teenager is awake, half of it is spent staring at a screen.

“Humans are biologically programmed to learn from other humans and from deep study, not flipping through screens for bullet point summaries.”

Continuing his argument about human evolution, Horvath explained that, as social creatures, we had developed to learn from each other in face-to-face discussions. Not a short YouTube video or AI summary.

Even the act of looking at a screen can disrupt the process through which our brains store information, as well as hurt our ability to focus. He also argued that it was not a case of developing better apps, but returning to how humanity had evolved to process information.

Horvath said: “The answer appears to be the tools we are using within schools to drive that learning.

“If you look at the data, once countries adopt digital technology widely in schools, performance goes down significantly.”

Calling for a sea change in how those in power look at education, Horvath asked legislators: “What do kids do on computers? They skim.

“So rather than determining what do we want our children to do and gearing education towards that, we are redefining education to better suit the tool. That’s not progress, that is surrender.”

Oh Great Another Billionaire Candidate

I know it is a bit early too discuss the upcoming general election in 2028 but there are some names that are being batted around like Newsom….and now the brains behind Clinton in 1992 election has come out with his chose for a candidate….

James Carville’s top pick to become the Democratic nominee in 2028 may come as a surprise: Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker. In an appearance on Raymond Arroyo’s Fox News show, the Democratic strategist said the billionaire governor has two big selling points: He’s a prodigious fundraiser, and he’s well-liked in the Black community. “If I had to say one guy—I really don’t know him, very superficially—but if I were betting the Kentucky Derby and I saw this 12-to-1 horse and I said, ‘I want to get a prize,’ I’d take JB Pritzker,” Carville said, per HuffPost.

Kamala Harris? She has “no chance,” says Carville. “No Democrat wants anything to do with anybody that had anything to do with 2024.” Carville thought Rahm Emanuel, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro can make strong runs, but none match Pritzker’s overall appeal in his view. “He’s bigger than life,” says Carville. “He’s worth $3 billion and won a million and a half dollars shooting craps and blackjack in Las Vegas. That makes people like him.” Early polling has Harris in first place, followed by Newsom, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, but Carville calls such polls “meaningless” at this point.

I would expect Carville to push a billionaire for he was instrumental in the Clinton and turning the DNC into a corporate stooge.

He is about the cash not the person.

Meaningless?  Same can be said for his push for yet another billionaire to rape the country….a precedent has been set by Donny and I bet it will carry forth no matter who gets the nod in 2028.

Will the voter be fooled by this?  My guess is they will for they are not the sharpest pencils in the box….if they are then nothing will change just a continuation of rule by the rich.

I know it is early and a lot can happen between now and November of 2028 but for now it is not looking good for the people of those country.

There has been a shake up as well all know within ICE…..some think it is because of the massive protests and public outcry…..I am skeptical to be honest…..but there are some changes that seem to be for the better….like ICE Goons will be wearing body cams now…..they may wear them but will they be turned on?

Body cameras are about to become standard gear for federal immigration officers working the streets of Minneapolis, NBC News reports. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced Monday that every DHS officer in the field there will now be equipped with body-worn cameras, a move she framed on X as a step toward greater transparency. She added that DHS plans to expand the program to agents across the country as money becomes available. She promised a “rapid” rollout of the program nationwide, CNN reports.

The decision follows intense criticism of immigration enforcement operations in Minneapolis, where federal agents have been conducting what officials call a “surge.” Two US citizens, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, were shot and killed in separate encounters with federal officers on Jan. 7 and Jan. 24, respectively. Bystander recordings from both incidents have raised questions about earlier descriptions from Noem and other officials regarding what happened.

Part of the growing concern for ICE accountability has been shown by a court statement….where it is said that they, ICE, has violated a 100 or so court orders while in Minneapolis.

JD Vance just got outed pushing an allegedly bogus account of an encounter between immigration enforcement agents and protesters in Minnesota.

“When I was in Minneapolis, I heard a number of crazy stories,” the vice president posted this week, outlining one incident “near the top of the list.”

Vance claimed that off-duty ICE agents and officers with Customs and Border Protection had stopped for dinner at a restaurant in the Twin Cities earlier this month.

According to him, they were “doxed and their location revealed, and the restaurant was then mobbed,” with the federal agents then supposedly “locked in” at the premises as “local police refused to respond to their pleas for help.”

“This is just a taste of what’s happening in Minneapolis,” Vance wrote.

“We’ve got the Department of Homeland Security, which is coming off its most successful year, under his leadership, in the history of the department,” she began.

“We have secured the border. We have driven down the murder rates and the crime rates to historic lows in this country, saved hundreds of millions of lives by interdicting drugs across the country and at our maritime borders,” she added.

Federal immigration agents are starting to leave Minnesota. Border adviser Tom Homan said Wednesday that roughly 700 federal agents will be pulled out of the state, part of a broader effort to wind down “Operation Metro Surge” in Minneapolis, which has brought more than 3,000 agents into a city with just 600 local officers, per NBC News. Homeland Security officials say about 3,000 undocumented immigrants have been arrested during the two-month operation. The drawdown, accompanied by a consolidated chain of command in Minneapolis, follows nationwide protests and intense scrutiny after federal agents fatally shot two US citizens, Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

Top officials initially labeled Pretti a “domestic terrorist” before any full investigation; Trump later called the killing “very unfortunate” and spoke of “de-escalation,” though he went on to describe Pretti as an “agitator and, perhaps, insurrectionist” on Friday after video showed Pretti kicking an immigration enforcement vehicle. Homan cited increased collaboration and “a safer environment” for the change, per the AP. But tensions remain high, with near-daily viral videos of clashes in the city. On Tuesday, immigration agents drew guns as they arrested activists who’d been tailing them. Former CNN anchor Don Lemon was previously arrested while covering a protest in a church, raising fears about First Amendment violations. There have also been reports of tear gas used on peaceful protesters and children.
