That is the headline in the extreme Right Wing rag, the Washington Examiner….it is referring to what these slugs say is the plan of the DSA for the foreign policy of this nation.
This is WE’s breakdown of the DSA platform….
The platform’s four foreign policy principles are worth examining in turn. The first is “end the U.S. war machine.” The steps are spelled out: defund the Pentagon, close overseas bases, and prosecute American “war criminals” through the International Criminal Court. In other words, unilateral disarmament. This is the opposite of what the U.S. should be doing while China, Russia, Iran, and other adversaries increasingly threaten our security. Yet in the DSA’s eyes, American militarism is the problem.

Defund the Department of War. End all foreign wars and close overseas military bases. Support and fully employ veterans. End immunity for U.S. war criminals and support the International Criminal Court’s mandate to prosecute war crimes.
People around the world deserve to live their lives without U.S. interference. End economic warfare against countries whose governments act independently of the United States, such as Cuba, Venezuela, and Iran.

Now my take….the Pentagon does not need $1.5 trillion so yes I say defund this before it gets further out of hand….I also think that if a crime against humanity was committed by a leader then they should be held accountable….I do not know what the idiots at the WE mean by destroy so I will let that go as a lie….
The majority of Americans want all these petite wars to end….most Americans want this country to figure in the policy making first then the rest of the world….and that sounds like what the DSA is pushing…..at least to me.

I was born the same year he was first elected so I don’t remember anything about him from my childhood. I didn’t learn about him until much later in life when I began studying history. He seems to have been that most rare of creatures, one that is long extinct now, an honest and honorable politician.
I helped my grandfather with mailers for the 1956 election for Ike….his platform would be considered commie today and he was a Repub……chuq
Some European countries like Italy and Spain are already asking for something along those lines. The removal of US bases in their countries as a starting point, then perhaps a restructuring of the whole idea of NATO. If Trump thinks NATO is only about America and the allies are supposed to blindly follow his lead into wars supporting Israel and oil-grabbing in the middle east, then perhaps NATO needs to be done away with, and a whole new alliance structure formed that no longer relies so heavily on the USA. Trump has blatantly shown that he cannot be trusted, and he is rude, spiteful, and domineering in his dealings with countries that are supposed to be friends and partners, not servants of his whims.

Pete I have said that for years….once the USSR dissolved and the Cold War cooled down….NATO should have gone away and let countries decide what to do…..chuq
Pete, frankly I think the European countries should boot the US out of NATO entirely. The US has proven that it cannot be trusted and will stab its allies in the back if Trump and the GOP think it will benefit them somehow.
