A new Justice Department memo from Attorney General Pam Bondi instructs the FBI to create a “cash reward system” to incentivize providing information against domestic terrorists. However, it also makes it clear that the targets of such domestic terrorist investigations will be “Antifa-aligned extremists,” including those promoting “radical gender ideology.”

“The FBI shall establish a cash reward system for information that leads to the successful identification and arrest of individuals in the leadership of domestic terrorist organizations,” the memo reads. The memo, dated December 5, was leaked.

Bondi’s memo cites multiple laws that might be used to target domestic terrorism, but also lays out a clear vision for the priorities of the FBI in targeting suspected terrorists. Primary examples given are not the mass shootings and white supremacist actions that have plagued the nation; rather, the document names the “doxing of law enforcement” or the “violent efforts to shut down immigration enforcement.”

While it raises the specter of extreme viewpoints, they are not the ones that previous studies have linked most domestic terrorism to. Bondi’s memo suggests that the perpetrators are “certain Antifa-aligned extremists” and that their “animating principle is adherence to the types of extreme viewpoints on immigration, radical gender ideology, and anti-American sentiment.”

All This Prosperity

All the manure aside the promises of a vivant economy has been all smoke and mirrors…..inflation is becoming crushing to us peons with food prices out of sight, manufacturing at an almost standstill and then there are those jobs that were suppose to come roar back thanks to those Donny tariffs…..all his promises have been crap.

Let’s look at the jobs picture….

The United States gained a decent 64,000 jobs in November, but it lost 105,000 in October as federal workers departed after cutbacks by the Trump administration, the government said in delayed reports. The unemployment rate rose to 4.6%, the highest level since 2021, per the AP. Both the October and November job creation numbers, released Tuesday by the Labor Department, came in late due to the 43-day federal government shutdown. US firms are mostly holding onto the employees they have, but they’re reluctant to hire new ones as they struggle to assess how to use AI, how to adjust to President Trump’s unpredictable policies—especially his tariffs—and how to deal with the lingering effects of the high interest rates the Federal Reserve engineered in 2022 and 2023 to rein in an inflation burst.

The uncertainty leaves job seekers struggling to find work or even land interviews. Fed policymakers are divided over whether the labor market needs more help from lower interest rates. Their deliberations are rendered more difficult because official reports on the economy’s health are coming in late and incomplete in the wake of the shutdown. The Labor Department is expected to provide at least a little clarity when it releases November numbers on hiring and unemployment on Tuesday, 11 days late.

Labor Department revisions in September showed that the economy created 911,000 fewer jobs than originally reported in the year that ended in March. That meant that employers added an average of just 71,000 new jobs a month over that period, not the 147,000 first reported. Since March, job creation has fallen farther, to an average 59,000 a month. During the 2021-2023 hiring boom that followed the end of COVID-19 lockdowns, by contrast, the economy was creating an average of 400,000 jobs a month. The unemployment rate, though still modest by historical standards, has risen since bottoming out at a 54-year low of 3.4% in April 2023.

Because of the government shutdown, the Labor Department didn’t release its jobs reports for September, October, and November on time. It finally put out the September jobs report on Nov. 20, seven weeks late. It will publish some of the October data—including a count of the jobs created that month by businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies—along with the November report on Tuesday. It won’t, however, release an unemployment rate for October, as it couldn’t calculate the number during the shutdown. More here.

Tariffs Scorecard

From Day One of Donny’s reign he told us that the tariffs he was imposing would lessen the deficit and return our manufacturing base……so far we are still waiting.

How should we assess whether President Donald Trump’s tariffs have been effective?

It’s an important question—yet frustratingly difficult to answer. Trump has outlined overlapping, confusing, and sometimes competing goals for the tariffs.

He’s celebrated them as a source of government revenue, for example, but also claimed they are meant as a negotiating tactic. They can’t be both. Tariffs used for negotiation are meant to be removed (once negotiations are complete), rendering them useless for long-term revenue. For Trump, tariffs are a solution to every problem, and the trade war is more about the vibes than the economics.

Thankfully, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer offered some more objectively measurable goals during an April 2025 hearing with the House Ways and Means Committee. When Rep. Brendan Boyle (D–Pa.) pressed Greer on what success would look like, Greer offered two clear metrics in response.

“The [trade] deficit needs to go in the right direction,” Greer said. “Manufacturing as a share of [gross domestic product] needs to go in the right direction.”

More than six months later, neither goal is any closer to being achieved. More importantly, neither seems likely to be completed over the long term by an economic policy rooted in barriers to trade.

We’ll do that. We’ve got to bring it down,” he told a Wisconsin crowd that October.

Well. Guess what? Prices are up. And they’re not just up, at least in some cases, because of random, impersonal market forces. They’re up because Trump raised them, through his tariffs. But mostly, they’re up because politicians, even presidents, don’t have the power to lower prices quickly and unilaterally.

I thought everyone knew this. I thought everyone was at least sophisticated enough to understand that inflation is kind of complicated and has to do with a number of factors that can’t be easily erased or reversed. I mean, that’s not a particularly advanced political or economic concept. A president can’t just say, “Beef prices, I command thee down!” and beef prices go down. We live in the real world, not some fairy-tale land; there’s no legal limit to the snow here, as there was in Camelot.

And yet—apparently a lot of people did believe him. Well, you know what? I’m not in the habit of calling people idiots. Elected Republicans, yes. A lot of them are idiots, and hypocrites and liars and worse. But regular people—I try to stay away from calling them idiots. They have pressures, they don’t really follow politics, and even in the present case, I understand that a few million voters turned to Trump because Joe Biden seemed to be responsible for inflation (and was, to a certain extent), Kamala Harris didn’t plausibly explain how she’d do things differently, and Trump was the only other entrée on the menu. Those people, I sort of get.

More ‘antifa’ Stupidity

The Donny group of sycophants are pulling no stops to crack down on dissent….even to go as far as lying about those that are dissenting.

AG Blondi has stepped up and shown her ignorance….

Attorney General Pam Bondi has instructed federal law enforcement agencies to investigate ‘antifa groups’ for tax crimes, according to a memo reviewed by news outlets including the Guardian and Reuters. The AG tasks the agencies with increasing investigations into antifa (short for antifascist or antifascism) and other so-called “extremist groups,” and compiling a list of entities possibly engaged in “domestic terrorism.” She also instructs the agencies specifically to look into tax crimes the groups may have committed by defrauding the Internal Revenue Service. The move comes months after President Trump designated antifa, a decentralized movement with no leader, a terrorist organization.

Per journalist Ken Klippenstein, Bondi specifically wants the agencies to target groups that express “opposition to law and immigration enforcement; extreme views in favor of mass migration and open borders; adherence to radical gender ideology, anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, or anti-Christianity”—and she’s asking the FBI to push harder for Americans to call into its tipline with such info, and to develop a reward system for tips that lead to the leaders of these groups being identified and arrested. The agencies are instructed to go back five years in their probe. The news outlets note the move also appears to be aimed at stripping certain leftwing groups of their tax-exempt status.

“Bondi’s memo could be the starting point for charges against a number of left-leaning advocacy groups and nonprofits the Trump administration has accused without evidence of having ties to extremists,” writes Rebecca Beitsch at the Hill.

How long will these people keep flogging that non-existent horse?

A top FBI official struggled on Thursday to answer basic questions about antifa, a loosely organized collective of anti-fascist activists that he labeled the top terrorist threat facing the US.

Michael Glasheen, operations director of the FBI’s National Security Branch, testified before the US House Committee on Homeland Security that antifa was “the most immediate violent threat” facing Americans today when it comes to domestic terrorism.

But when Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), ranking member of the Homeland Security Committee, asked Glasheen for specifics about this purportedly dire threat, he mostly came up empty.

“So where is antifa headquarters?” Thompson asked him.

Glasheen paused for several seconds and then said, “What we’re doing right now with the organization…” before Thompson interrupted him.

“Where in the United States does antifa exist?” asked Thompson.

“We are building out the infrastructure right now,” Glasheen replied.

“So what does that mean?” asked a bewildered Thompson. “I’m just, we’re trying to get information. You said antifa is a terrorist organization. Tell us, as a committee, how did you come to that? Whether they exist, how many members do they have in the United States as of right now?”

“Well, that’s very fluid,” Glasheen said. “It’s ongoing for us to understand that… no different from al-Qaeda and ISIS.”

Thompson again interrupted and tried to make Glasheen answer his original question.

“If you said antifa is the No. 1 domestic terrorist organization operating in the United States,” he said, “I just need to know where they are, how many people. I don’t want a name, I don’t want anything like that. Just, how many people have you identified, with the FBI, that antifa is made of?”

“Well, the investigations are active…” Glasheen said.

Thompson then became incredulous.

“Sir, you wouldn’t come to this committee and say something you can’t prove,” he said. “I know you wouldn’t do that. But you did.”

Many observers were stunned that Glasheen appeared to know so little about what he proclaimed to be the top domestic terrorist threat facing the US.

“Total amateur hour in US law enforcement,” remarked Democracy Docket news editor Matthew Kupfer, “where the No. 1 terror threat is an organization that does not formally exist and a career FBI official is dancing around before a congressional committee trying to make the Trump strategy sound legit.”

Zeteo editor-in-chief Mehdi Hasan argued that Glasheen’s testimony was proof that the administration was simply concocting domestic terrorism threats with zero basis in reality.

“Wow,” Hasan marveled. “Just a complete admission here that the entire ‘antifa’ threat narrative is totally manufactured by this administration.”

Fred Wellman, a Democratic congressional candidate in Missouri, wondered how many actual dangerous criminals are running free while the FBI focuses on taking down an organization that it apparently knows nothing about.

“This would be comical if there wasn’t real world impact from this idiocy,” Wellman wrote. “We have real crimes and real threats and they are chasing a fake ‘organization’ for politics.”

Democrats on the House Homeland Security Committee also piled on Glasheen, citing his testimony as evidence that the Trump administration is completely unserious about law enforcement.

“If your ‘top threat’ has no headquarters, no organization, and no definition then it’s not a top threat,” they posted on social media. “The Trump administration is ignoring real threats, and the American people see right through it.”

One more point while they desperately search for a hook on ‘antifa’ white groups are getting a free ride….why is that?

America has never hesitated to name its enemies when those enemies live far away. Foreign threats receive labels, funding packages, primetime addresses, and decades of political rhetoric. But when the danger emerges from within—when the faces of terrorism mirror the nation’s dominant racial group—suddenly the White House becomes quiet. Historically quiet. Deafeningly quiet.

That silence is not accidental; it is the byproduct of centuries of social, political, and racial conditioning that shield white extremists from accountability even as they remain the most violent domestic threat in American history.

This is not hyperbole. White domestic terrorists—whether marching under Confederate flags, camouflaged in “Don’t Tread on Me” patriotism, or hiding behind masks in U-Haul convoys—have committed more politically motivated killings on U.S. soil than any other group since the country’s founding.

Yet the response from the highest levels of government is consistently muted. When these groups appear in public, armed and organized, they are often reduced to “protesters,” “heritage defenders,” or “militias.” Their actions are softened. Their ideology is excused. Their violence is sanitized.

Who’s Next?

There has been lots of discussion about Donny and his possible pursuit of an illegal third term…..but let’s look past this debate and look at what we can expect if he decides to step aside and give JD a chance to  rule the roost.

I know many people want to see Donny gone….one way of the other…..but what would be better….JD or A third Donny?

How old does JD Vance think is too old to use the n-word? How about saying “I love Hitler” or making jokes about gassing your political enemies?

These are absurd questions to be asking of a vice president, but they keep coming up because he keeps brushing off revelations that young Republicans have used racial slurs and other hate speech by insisting they’re just kids. When Marko Elez, a 25-year-old DOGE staffer, was terminated earlier this year over racist, pro-eugenics tweets, Vance insisted that such revelations should not “ruin a kid’s life.” On Wednesday, when Politico published the contents of a group chat containing several young GOP leaders, Vance came to their defense in a similar fashion.

This wasn’t a college group chat. Its members were leaders in the Young Republican National Federation, which includes members up to the age of 40. William Hendrix, the Kansas Young Republicans’ vice chair, used variations of the n-word. Peter Giunta, who was chief of staff for a New York assemblyman until he was fired on Tuesday, joked about murdering his opponents. Hendrix is 25. Giunta is 31. Vance, for what it’s worth, is 41. Before being tapped as Donald Trump’s running mate last year, he was also known to hang out in group chats with other young Republicans, some younger even than Hendrix. Is 41 too old to face consequences for your actions?

Vance’s repeated insistence that young adults should never be held accountable for using racial slurs is notable in and of itself. But his larger refusal to condemn depraved allies or even to distance himself from them is part of a larger trend. Most political norms—and the laws of political gravity that helped keep them in place—are long gone, replaced by an intense tribal loyalty that turns any scandal into an opportunity for whataboutism. This, it seems, is an early preview of Trump’s lasting political legacy: Republicans are no longer apologizing, nor are they pushing out racist, bigoted allies when they inevitably find themselves embroiled in controversy.

A new YouGov survey shows that a large number of young Americans are getting behind Donald Trump Jr. as the dark-horse Republican candidate for the 2028 presidential election.

The poll revealed Trump Jr. has strong support in the 18-to-29 and 30-to-44-year-old demographic ranges.

More than a quarter of Republicans and right-leaning independents under 30 pegged Don Jr. as their “ideal” choice to lead the GOP ticket in 2028. It’s a 10-point increase from April.

What’s more, 53 percent of voters aged 18 to 29 and 55 percent aged 30 to 44 said they would consider voting for Don Jr. in the next Republican presidential primary.

In a recent interview, whistleblower and retired US Air Force Major David Grusch claimed that Trump has received reports on crashed spacecraft and non-human remains retrieved by the US, the origins of these beings, and their intentions.

Grusch, a current advisor to Congress‘s UAP Task Force, said the president could soon become the ‘most consequential leader in world history’ by publicly disclosing what America has kept hidden about extraterrestrials.

President Donald Trump said that he wished immigrants from countries he viewed as “nice” would come to the United States while delivering a speech about combating inflation.

On December 9, Trump made these comments in front of a crowd of people at a casino and resort in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania.

During his speech, he declared that inflation was no longer an issue, and that Democrats used the term “affordability” as a “hoax” to harm his reputation. His comments then included grievances about immigrants he believed came to the U.S. from “filthy” countries.

The president of the United States claimed that Democrats want to turn everyone transgender “if they’re not feeling well,” while he ranted at a recent speech that was ostensibly about the economy.

“I think ‘transgender for all’ is a great, great thing for the Democrats to be talking about,” he said during a speech at the Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania, casino yesterday. The speech was billed as a chance for Trump to “reclaim the economic narrative,” according to The Guardian.

“Transgender for every member of your family. If they’re not feeling well that night, let’s just change their sex,” he said, getting the crowd to laugh. “Let’s not talk about it. Let ’em go and let ’em fight, fight, fight just to get these things.”

While Trump claimed that Democrats won’t stop talking about transgender issues, that’s far from the truth. Trump made trans people’s rights the centerpiece of his 2024 campaign, spending hundreds of millions of dollars on anti-trans ads, while Kamala Harris’ campaign stayed fairly silent on trans rights.

Trump has repeatedly used the expression “transgender for all” – he generally presents it as something that he believes Democrats are demanding – over the past several years, even though it’s not clear what he means by it. This was perhaps one of the few times that he has offered more of an explanation as to what he means when he says that: He appears to believe that Democrats want everyone to transition, as if transitioning is something people do irrespective of their identity.

A planned set of quarters marking America’s 250th birthday will look different than originally envisioned. An earlier proposal to spotlight the abolition of slavery, women’s suffrage, and the Civil Rights Movement has been shelved by the Trump administration in favor of designs centered on the Mayflower Compact, the Revolutionary War, and the Gettysburg Address, reports the Wall Street Journal. The 2026 quarters will also feature George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Abraham Lincoln, and the Pilgrims—replacing draft concepts that would have depicted former slave and abolitionist Frederick Douglass, a women’s suffrage marcher, and Ruby Bridges integrating a New Orleans school.

The shift follows a multiyear process in which the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee—made up of coin experts, artists, and political appointees—worked with historians and institutions to craft themes “emblematic” of the semiquincentennial, as authorized by a 2021 law signed by Trump. That panel had endorsed five topics: the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, abolition, suffrage, and civil rights. Those recommendations, and a separate set from the now-dismissed Commission of Fine Arts, were ultimately bypassed. The Journal notes that the arts panel “must be consulted on new coin designs,” but that “Trump fired all of its members this year and no members are currently listed on its website.”

Treasury officials say the revised coins better reflect America’s ideals. The designs “depict the story of America’s journey toward a ‘more perfect union,’ and celebrate … liberty,” acting Mint chief Kristie McNally said. US Treasurer Brandon Beach argued that the prior concepts were overly influenced by diversity and “critical race theory.” Looming over the quarter debate is an even more contentious idea: a $1 coin bearing Trump’s image. Draft designs posted by the Mint include three portraits of the former president and eight eagle-themed reverse sides.

There’s one 1926 precedent for a sitting president—Calvin Coolidge—appearing on a commemorative half-dollar, but for most of US history, the practice has been avoided, reflecting George Washington’s view that putting living leaders on coins felt too close to monarchy. Two Democratic senators have introduced legislation to bar living presidents from US currency, calling a Trump coin inappropriate. The US president has consistently threatened to throw the whole tournament into chaos, and with fewer than six months left until 48 nations travel to the USA, Canada, and Mexico, the controversies don’t stop.

Trump has taken on the role of main character throughout preparations for next summer’s showpiece event, already making headline news for things like pushing his transgender policies in an awkward exchange with the Juventus men’s team during the Club World Cup, being awarded the first-ever FIFA Peace Prize, and having 19 countries on his travel ban list – many of them qualifying for the tournament.

A wax figure of Donald Trump has been withdrawn from public view after museum visitors repeatedly struck, clawed and physically assaulted it at a San Antonio, Texas, attraction.

The figure had endured numerous attacks over time, including noticeable facial scratches, with staff acknowledging it had been battered once too often to continue being shown. This comes amid growing fears surrounding Trump’s health, as a result of the latest pictures of his hands.

Local–Apprehension is high among the Coast’s sizeable Hispanic community….they are waiting for ICE to head East from New Orleans.

Personal–Not much new happening with me….same diseases and same treatments with same side effects…..

I use honey instead of sugar and with the bees in trouble what will I do…..

One taste, and the beekeeper was certain: This was no ordinary honey.

Sean Kennedy had been showing off the hives he tends in Northwest Washington one autumn afternoon when he removed a glove for a taste test. This was how the self-taught beekeeper ate most of his honey, by plunging a finger into a row of honeycomb and slipping it under his protective head covering to his mouth. Lately the flavor had been, well, different.

“I’d say that’s spotted lanternfly honey,” Kennedy, 64, declared after a moment’s consideration, over the droning of thousands of bees at the Swiss Embassy apiary. He searched for the right way of describing how he knew, landing on: “It just doesn’t have this gentle sweet taste.” It was instead, he said, “like, you know, your grandparents’ cough drops.”

The invasion of the spotted lanternfly was impossible to miss this past summer in the Washington region. The scarlet-winged leafhoppers wreaked havoc on trees, threatened Virginia’s multibillion-dollar wine industry and ushered in a spectacle of state-sponsored squashing. This fall, the insect’s impact on the area has shown up in a less obvious way: It’s changing the honey.

Honeybees, it turns out, are attracted to the sticky, sugary substance that spotted lanternflies leave behind after slurping tree sap in late summer and fall months, during the adult phase of their life cycle. The proper term for this substance is honeydew, but that’s really just another word for poop. Bees suck it up and bring it back to their hives, where they treat it like nectar — spitting it into honeycombs and furiously fanning it down with their wings to reduce the water content.

And voilà: honey. Maybe not what you’d find in a bear-shaped container on a grocery store shelf. But honey nonetheless, a darker, mysterious new kind that’s shaking up the beekeeping world. The phenomenon first happened several years ago in Pennsylvania, where the spotted lanternfly was discovered in the United States around 2014 after apparently hitching a ride from China aboard a shipment of stone.

Ex-Beatle Paul is defending the EU ban on the term ‘burger’…..

A vegan burger is still a burger, according to Paul McCartney, who’s among the more prominent names fighting a proposed EU law that would ban the use of meat-related terms for plant-based foods. “To stipulate that burgers and sausages are ‘plant-based,’ ‘vegetarian’ or ‘vegan’ should be enough for sensible people to understand what they are eating,” the former Beatle and longtime vegetarian tells the Times of London. This would also encourage attitudes benefitting the health of people and the planet, McCartney says. It should be noted that his family owns Linda McCartney Foods, which offers vegetarian and vegan sausages, burgers, and pies, per the Guardian.

Eight British MPs, including former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, have also expressed their displeasure with the bill, proposed by French center-right MEP Céline Imart as a way to honor farmers and reduce consumer confusion. In a letter to Brussels, they argue the bill could instead “increase confusion” and “undermine economic growth,” per Politico. Though the UK is no longer a part of the EU, MPs worry the bill would affect British supermarkets if it were to go into law.

Having already passed a vote in the European Parliament, it now awaits approval by a majority of EU member states. Meanwhile, critics point to EU polling, showing consumers generally understand the difference between real meat and plant-based foods that mimic meat, as well as the Collins dictionary, which defines a burger as a “flat round mass of minced meat or vegetables,” and a sausage as “an object shaped like a sausage.”

I disagree with Sir Paul but that should not be earth shaking since I never liked him anyway…..LOL

As an old fart I am interested when I read about a study on slowing down the aging process….

A new study suggests that a fountain of youth of sorts might be conjured up on the cellular level. Scientists at Texas A&M have developed a technique to boost the energy production of aging and damaged cells, reports the Washington Post. As a piece at Science Alert puts it, the cells “can be effectively ‘recharged’ by replacing their internal batteries—microscopic power stations called mitochondria.” The findings published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences hold implications for the treatment of conditions including Alzheimer’s and diabetes.

The technique is still in its early stages. So far, it has only been tested in laboratory dishes, but animal trials are expected soon. If proven safe and effective, the method could eventually allow doctors to extract a patient’s cells, convert them to stem cells, treat them in the lab with particles called “nanoflowers,” and then return the rejuvenated cells to the patient. “The fact that you can increase the number of mitochondria per cell is huge,” Stanford University’s Daria Mochly-Rosen, who was not involved in the study, tells the Post. However, researchers caution that the long-term safety of nanoflowers and their key ingredient, molybdenum disulfide, has yet to be established. The Texas A&M team is collaborating with other labs to explore applications for muscular dystrophy, fatty liver disease, and nervous system disorders. If successful, the technique could mean fewer repeat treatments are needed compared to current drugs that boost mitochondria, which typically wear off quickly. Researchers say the ultimate goal is to improve health and extend life by maintaining healthy mitochondria in tissues throughout the body.

It is too late for me maybe this will help others.

Japan seem to be making great headway in the bathroom….

Japan’s famously high-tech toilets are getting a new upgrade: sound-masking devices designed to cover up the less melodic realities of public restrooms. These gadgets, often called Otohime, or “Sound Princess,” are now a staple in Japanese bathrooms, emitting everything from rushing water to birdsong with the push of a button. The goal? To spare users embarrassment and save water by reducing the number of flushes used to drown out other noises, reports the New York Times.

Although these devices have been present in women’s restrooms in Japan for some time, it’s not just the ladies using them anymore, either. “As younger men are more sensitive about toilet noise, it’s being installed in men’s rooms as well,” says Tsukasa Matsuyama of Toto, the company behind the Sound Princess. And with public bathrooms in Japan increasingly designed without gender distinctions, the devices are finding fans across the spectrum—including among transgender people, who’ve been consulted by Toto on bathroom issues.

The devices are even becoming a target for hackers and hobbyists, with one viral parody playing the theme from a samurai TV drama. The concept of masking toilet sounds isn’t new in Japan, where ancient temples used urns to splash water and mask noises centuries ago. The modern version emerged during a 1979 drought, when electronic sound devices were introduced as a water-saving measure. Today, Toto’s technicians scour the country for the perfect nature sounds to record, while competitors are adding their own twists—like a Formula One engine roar at a racetrack rest stop.

Finally this fad of GLP-1 drugs for weight loss is getting out of hand….

Welcome to the burgeoning era of — we swear we’re not making this up — “ozempets,” in which your servile critters might shed some extra pounds by taking animal-focused diabetes and weight loss drugs similar to Ozempic and Wegovy.

It hasn’t quite happened yet, but it’s seemingly about to. As the New York Times reports, a San Francisco based biopharmaceutical firm called Okava Pharmaceuticals is expected to announce the first pilot study of using these drugs, which are known as GLP-1 agonists, on obese cats.

Spoiled as ever, the cats won’t even need to receive regularly injections of the drug. In a setup that seems designed to fuel conspiracy theories but is intended to make the treatment more convenient for owners, the cats will instead be injected with microchip-sized implants that slowly release the drug for periods up to six months, according to the reporting. Okava hopes to carry out similar trials in dogs.

“You insert that capsule under the skin, and then you come back six months later, and the cat has lost the weight,” Chen Gilor, a veterinarian at the University of Florida, who is leading the study, told the NYT. “It’s like magic.”

Who’s Afraid Of Intellectualism?

Good question and the best answer is Conservatives since about the 1960s….and ever since they have worked tirelessly to eradicate it….

As a kid, my favorite part of grocery shopping wasn’t the snacks or the cereal aisle, it was the tabloids at the checkout. I’d devour headlines about Batboy sightings, Bigfoot vacations, royal scandals, and the occasional presidential summit with extraterrestrials. These were absurdities printed with a straight face, and the comedy was half the fun.

I didn’t expect that, decades later, those supermarket fever dreams would feel less like parody and more like prophecy. The fantasies that once lived on cheap newsprint now pulse through mainstream culture. In the social media age, anything can be “true” if it flatters your bias or fuels your outrage. And with AI dissolving the already thin boundary between fact and fiction, we’ve entered an era where reality feels optional, truth feels negotiable, and the most sensational lie travels at the speed of an algorithm.

In this environment, “common sense,” emotion, and personal anecdote have muscled into spaces once reserved for evidence and expertise. But there’s nothing “common sense” about medicine, climate science, gender identity, or any other complex system that shapes human life. Yet this appeal to “what feels right” has become the jet fuel of America’s culture war. It declares: If the issue seems simple to me, it should be simple to you. And if you disagree, you’re elitist or part of a hidden agenda. This flattening of complexity has turned ignorance into authenticity and expertise into betrayal.

This is anti-intellectualism, and though accelerating, it isn’t new. Richard Hofstadter warned in the 1960s of a growing American suspicion of expertise, a belief that intelligence itself was untrustworthy. What was once a cultural tendency has hardened into a political identity and, increasingly, a governing philosophy.

It’s also tied to a literacy crisis hiding in plain sight. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 21% of U.S. adults struggle with “Level 1” literacy, basic decoding with limited comprehension, and 34% of adults perform at “Below Level 2,” meaning they cannot reliably compare or integrate information across texts. The more recent NCES update shows low literacy rates increasing, with “Below Level 2” rising from 29% to 34% as of 2024.

Which Nation Is Next?

If Donny spent as much time working on the economy as he does threatening nations we would be better off.

He threatens Venezuela, Nigeria, Somalia and now he issues a new threat….this time it is Colombia….

President Donald Trump warned Colombian President Gustavo Petro he better “wise up” because “he’s next” in what would be an expansion of the administration’s efforts to stop alleged drug smuggling operations in the Caribbean.

While speaking to reporters at the White House on Wednesday, Trump was asked about Petro’s criticism of U.S. strikes on alleged drug boats in the Caribbean. Petro has referred to the efforts as “barbarian.”

Trump has defended the strikes, alleging that the boats are headed to the United States and pose a direct threat. He’s accused Venezuela President Nicolás Maduro, whose election victory has been contested, of being behind the drug smuggling operations.

The president warned Petro he’s the next one in the administration’s sights. Trump has blasted Petro before, calling him a “thug.”

He said on Wednesday:

He’s been fairly hostile to the United States and I haven’t given a lot of thought. He’s gonna have himself some big problems if he doesn’t wise up. Did he say Colombia’s producing a lot of drugs? They have cocaine factories that they make cocaine, as you know, and they sell it right into the United States. So he better wise up or he’ll be next. He’ll be next. I hope he’s listening. He’s gonna be next. Because we don’t like people when they kill people and they sell drugs, they kill [people] in the United States, and Colombia is a major manufacturer of drugs, meaning cocaine in particular, as you know.

In October, Trump similarly blasted Petro and threatened “serious action” against Colombia.

“He’s hurt his country very badly, they’re doing very poorly, Colombia,” the president said at the time. “They make cocaine — they have cocaine factories. They grow all sorts of crap — that’s drugs, bad drugs coming into the United States, goes generally through Mexico. And he better watch it, or we’ll take very serious action against him and his country.”

All this and the flow of drugs will not cease…..it has not in 50 years and what makes anyone think Donny can change that?

Never Trust A Clinton

I said that back in the 1990s as I watch Bubba destroy the Democratic Party with high dollar donors….and in 2016 I said it again when Hillary was the Dem candidate for president…..I said it then and I still believe that the American people cannot trust a Clinton…. so why listen to anything the bought and paid for mouthpieces of corporate America?

Former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton complained at a conference hosted by an Israeli newspaper on Tuesday that young Americans were becoming sympathetic toward Palestinians because they watch “totally made up” videos of the horrors in Gaza on social media.

“Smart, well-educated, young people from our own country, from around the world, where were they getting their information?” asked Clinton during a New York conference hosted by the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom. “They were getting their information from social media, particularly TikTok.”

She continued, “That is where they were learning about what happened on October 7th, what happened in the days, weeks, and months to follow. That’s a serious problem. It’s a serious problem for democracy, whether it’s Israel or the United States, and it’s a serious problem for our young people.”

Clinton complained that when she tried to talk to young people “to engage in some kind of reasonable discussion, it was very difficult because they did not know history, they had very little context, and what they were being told on social media was not just one-sided, it was pure propaganda.”

“It’s not just the usual suspects. It’s a lot of young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand,” she claimed, adding, “A lot of the challenge is with younger people. More than 50% of young people in America get their news from social media.”

The former first lady concluded, “So just pause on that for a second. They are seeing short-form videos, some of them totally made up, some of them not at all representing what they claim to be showing, and that’s where they get their information.”

Former Obama White House speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz made similar remarks about young people during a conference hosted by the Jewish Federations of North America last month.

This what we get for letting Israel buy the opinions of supposedly stand-up politicians….lie to the American people and cash the huge checks from AIPAC.

She is not alone…..there are many politicians in office that will lie just to get those checks….they care nothing about truth and justice and especially care nothing about democracy…..money talks even if it is bullshit and politicians drool over their chance for a big payout.

But she is not alone….most Dems are not in sync with their supporters….

Last month, some House members publicly acknowledged that Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza. It’s a judgment that Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch unequivocally proclaimed a year ago. Israeli human-rights organizations have reached the same conclusion. But such clarity is sparse in Congress.

And no wonder. Genocide denial is needed for continuing to appropriate billions of dollars in weapons to Israel, as most legislators have kept doing. Congress members would find it very difficult to admit that Israeli forces are committing genocide while voting to send them more weaponry.

Three weeks ago, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) introduced a resolution titled “Recognizing the genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza.” Twenty-one House colleagues, all of them Democrats, signed on as co-sponsors. They account for 10 percent of the Democrats in Congress.

In sharp contrast, a national Quinnipiac Poll found that 77 percent of Democrats “think Israel is committing genocide.” That means there is a 67 percent gap between what the elected Democrats are willing to say and what the people who elected them believe. The huge gap has big implications for the party’s primaries in the midterm elections next year, and then in the race for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination.
