Just a mere couple of weeks before we Americans head to the voting booth…..the predictions are up and down….depending on which ones you pay attention to in your decision making process……
The latest news is not looking good for the Dems……
With the midterms closing in, a new poll from the New York Times and Sienna College delivers troubling news for Democrats: Worries about the economy are giving Republicans a renewed edge. The big takeaway stat is that likely voters would prefer a Republican to represent them in Congress over a Democrat by a 49-45 margin, a flip from September when Democrats (boosted by concerns over abortion rights) were up by a single point. The stats with independent voters explain the turnaround:
- Huge flip: Nowhere is the shift more pronounced than among independent women voters. They now favor Republicans by 18 points, but they favored Democrats by 14 in September. The Times, in what may be an understatement, calls this 32-point shift “striking.” The story includes a quote from one such woman who says that while she disagrees with the Supreme Court’s Roe decision “1,000 percent,” it’s not enough to sway her vote.
- One view: So what’s going on here? “Americans don’t like their Democratic president, and they aren’t happy with the status quo,” writes Charles C.W. Cooke at the conservative National Review. “And what respondents care about—despite all that talk of ‘Roevember’—is the bad economy.”
- Another poll: A CBS News-YouGov poll also finds that Democratic momentum after the Roe decision has “stalled.” It finds that the “Republicans’ House lead has stabilized today at 224 seats to the Democrats’ 211,” after shrinking in the previous two monthly polls.
- Big flip: Independents say they favor a GOP candidate by a margin of 51-41. But in September, Democrats had a 3-point lead.
Actually after looking at the population I have seen this scenario playing out for about 6 months…..
For me this is so sad…..the country deserves so much more from its elected officials than the GOP is willing to give.
You can make a difference but only if you care enough about this country to vote.

What does the country deserve? God knows. I just hope most people have begun to realize just how incompetently Democrats are running the country. Name one thing they have done right. If you could, they would be running on it.
You want to vote for policies like this?
— Aborting babies and selling their parts.
— Giving our economy to the Chinese by taxing our corporations out the ying-yang.
— Refusing to drill here, but happy to buy overpriced oil from our enemies.
— Abandoning Afghanistan, including our own people, but risking nuclear in Ukraine.
— Spending and spending and spending, buying stuff we don’t need, and printing money to pay for that fraud, waste, and abuse.
— Paying people not to work and then exclaiming great joy at the low unemployment rates.
— Defunding the police, releasing felons with bail, and refusing to prosecute flat out crimes, and then pretending the high crime rates are a Republican scare tactic.
— Outlawing the distinction between the sexes. Insisting we approve of transgendering children. Even paying for gender changes.
— And so forth.
None of those will move this country forward….and that is the problem….wedge issues…..chuq
Wedge issues? Instead of using logic to make your points, do you just look for words with the desired connotation? 🙄

Why are those issues wedge issues? Most of them are the Democratic Party’s wedge issues.
— Abortion is the only thing the Democratic Party is running on.
— Democrat taxes have driven our corporation to China
— Global Warming is the Democrat excuse to kill fossil fuel
— Biden flat out abandon Afghanistan, including our own people. That Democrat is risking nuclear war in Ukraine.
— Spending and spending and spending, buying stuff we don’t need, and printing money to pay for that fraud, waste, and abuse is Democrat policy
— Paying people not to work and then exclaiming great joy at the low unemployment rates is Democrat policy.
— Defunding the police, releasing felons with bail, and refusing to prosecute flat out crimes, and then pretending the high crime rates are a Republican scare tactic is Democrat policy.
— Democrats want to outlaw the distinction between the sexes. Democrats insist we approve of transgendering children. Even paying for gender changes.
Everything in that comment is pure hallucinations….they is no logic in them. Wedge issues is all you conservs have….you have no idea how to improve the country just to hate others. PERIOD! chuq
You have found your word, and you are sticking with it. To some, it seems repetition is truth. Other have a better understanding of the definition of insanity.
If people are dumb enough to vote Republican then I say they get what they deserve and to hell with them.

We are probably already getting what we deserve. The country is trending towards Hell.
Never ask for what you deserve. We need all the grace of God we can get.
The general move to the Far Right is becoming apparent all over. It is evident here, and in Italy, Hungary, France, and other countries. Feels like the 1930s all over again.

In a way I am glad I am an old fart…..if I were younger I would up to my butt in opposition anyway necessary. chuq
1930’s? I suppose so. Germany and Russia were Socialist, totalitarian states led by Big Brother types. Instead of allowing individuals to pursue their own visions of the future, western democracies were experimenting with Socialism and inward looking.
The fears generated by the Great Depression were crippling and hobbled the souls of many. It took the challenges posed by a Great War to remind many of what actually matters.
