Somethings Are Inevitable

These days there is nothing to actually to look forward to….but the new color ‘discovered’ by Apple, the big innovation by the company for its iPhone….the color green….how’s that for innovation?

But that is just my rant…..the president has given us something to look forward to in the near future…..

President Biden warned that the US-led Western sanctions campaign against Russia will lead to “real” food shortages across the world.

“With regard to food shortage, yes, we did talk about food shortages. And — and it’s going to be real,” Biden said at a press conference in Brussels. “The price of these sanctions is not just imposed upon Russia, it’s imposed upon an awful lot of countries as well, including European countries and our country as well.”

Biden’s sanctions on Russia come as the US is facing a 40-year high inflation rate and record-high gas prices. Although he tried to blame the inflation on what he called “Putin’s price hike,” Biden has admitted before that Americans will feel economic pain because of the sanctions he imposed, which include a ban on Russian oil imports.

So far, the Western sanctions have done nothing to slow Russia’s attack on Ukraine and have not deterred Russian President Vladimir Putin. When confronted with this fact, Biden snapped at a reporter and said deterrence isn’t the point, and signaled that he expects the war to go on for a long time.

“Sanctions never deter. The maintenance of sanctions — the maintenance of sanctions, the increasing the pain, and the demonstration — why I asked for this NATO meeting today — is to be sure that after a month, we will sustain what we’re doing not just next month, the following month, but for the remainder of this entire year. That’s what will stop him,” he said.

Oh goody….higher food prices and shortages…..now that is something to thank this war for….

This situation does not bode well for Biden and the Dems going forward…..

One more thing to look forward to….the 2024 presidential election is a mere 2 years away….and the polls, I know it is early but it is something to consider,  have ex-president ahead of the sitting president…..47 to 41 percent….time to pay attention is NOW!

  1. The Orange ex-president is going nowhere near the Oval Office in 2024. I am 99.99% sure of that. Now, that doesn’t mean a GOP nominee couldn’t win.. it just will not be Trump.

      1. The irony here, chuq… you are very anti-war and right now civilian populations of the Western world and beyond are fighting that war in Ukraine in dealing with the troublesome economies, inflation, high prices, gas prices…. this IS a world war III but the battle is being fought over the kitchen tables of America. Can’t really ask for a “better” world war. It’s all a matter of perception.

      2. Yeah, it will. Even if we are measuring that within our own economy, economists, Treasury Sec. Yellin, financial institutions, are all echoing things will get worse with a possible recession… and that will carry with it all the usual social stressors… crime, civil unrest… and people will fall victim and even die in the process. So by extension we will not be immune from the effects of the war in Ukraine… and the deaths here indirectly due to the war will be in fact casualties of that war… entirely spawned by Putin. Biden has nothing to do with this.

    1. Whether it be Trump or not, it is more likely to be some other Conservative Crazy who shares Trump’s dreams of governing a nation of serfs and pawns under the umbrella of a fascist-style dictatorship disguised with a few democratic flavors.

  2. Sadly, history shows that economic uncertainty, whether real or imagined, is fertile ground for Fascists and Nazis to rise to power. It is dangerously naive to think that “it will never happen here”. RepubliKKKan Nazi Racist Traitors have been hard at work trying to determine WHO votes in order to secure their own election in the future. We are further along to path to Fascism than most people are prepared to admit.

    1. And all you have to do is listen to some of the oddballs in the Conservative side of our congress to find them. Plus a few state governors who might one day rise to be president .. people like DeSantis for example … I think DeSantis could far out-Trump the Trumpster himself and that is a frightening prospect to my way of thinking.

  3. We also have an election in 2024. My dread is that the Conservatives are going to win yet again. As for your country, I fear the Democrats may well be beaten. That old phrase springs to mind about many voters on both sides of The Atlantic..
    “The politics of self-interest”.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  4. The sad thing is that our government is made up of educated people with no commonsense. This is why we see the same happenings all the time. Our government is like a dog that keeps returning to its own vomit. It gets sickening after a while.

      1. Far too many of our voters tend to be limited in priorities .. (1) Something to eat, (2) Something to get drunk or high on, (3) Somebody to warm their bed, and (3) a comfortable place to defecate.
