Send In A Clown

I thought the we Americans had a lock on toady politicians but the circus is bigger than I thought…..as a junkie for international situations I wanted to see how the new British PM would react to the role of her country in the world today…..

The UK has a new PM and she has a new foreign minister…Boris Johnson.

Was this the best she could do for her new cabinet?

Personally I think he is a clown…at best…..but some of his pronouncements should have eliminated him out front……

Turkey – May 2016

Boris Johnson wins a £1,000 prize for penning a rude poem about Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Turkish president, having sex with a goat. His limerick, published by the Spectator as a rebuff to Erdoğan’s efforts to prosecute a German comedian’s offensive poem, also calls the Turkish leader a “wankerer”.

United States – April 2016

The MP for Uxbridge and Ruislip is criticised for describing Barack Obama as a “part-Kenyan” who harboured an “ancestral dislike” of Britain. He made the comments in a newspaper article after the US president supported the remain campaign during a visit to Britain.

Israel – November 2015

Johnson’s visit to the occupied Palestinian territories is severely curtailed by his hosts in protest at a series of strongly pro-Israel remarks. They included telling an audience in Tel Aviv that a trade boycott of Israeli goods was “completely crazy” and supported by “corduroy-jacketed, snaggletoothed, lefty academics in the UK”.

Japan – October 2015

Is filmed wiping out a 10-year-old Japanese schoolboy, Toki Sekiguchi, during a game of street rugby on a visit to Tokyo.

United States – June 2012

Johnson tells TV chat show host David Letterman that he “could be president of the United States, technically speaking” given that he was born in New York City on 19 June 1964.

China – August 2008

In Beijing for the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games, Johnson said “respectfully to our Chinese hosts” that ping pong was “invented on the dining tables of England in the 19th century. It was. And it was called wiff waff”.

United States – November 2007

In a Telegraph column headlined I Want Hillary Clinton to be President, Johnson describes the Democrat: “She’s got dyed blonde hair and pouty lips, and a steely blue stare, like a sadistic nurse in a mental hospital”.

Papua New Guinea – September 2006

In another attack on Tony Blair in another Telegraph column, Johnson wrote: “For 10 years we in the Tory party have become used to Papua New Guinea-style orgies of cannibalism and chief-killing and so it is with a happy amazement that we watch as the madness engulfs the Labour party.”

After later apologising for any offence caused, the then MP for Henley said he would be happy to “add Papua New Guinea to my global itinerary of apology”. However, he insisted he was not mistaken about cannibalism in the country: “My remarks were inspired by a Time Life book I have which does indeed show relatively recent photos of Papua New Guinean tribes engaged in warfare, and I’m fairly certain that cannibalism was involved.”

Just a small collection of some of Boris’ best zingers aimed at foreign stage……there is so much more about this clown….

The UK can join the US as the butt of jokes in the world…..this should endear the UK to the world……

      1. It’s mutual. I saw something in her the first time I looked into her eyes as Bill campaigned for himself.

    1. You’re right about Boris being right on Hillary.

Actually, “dyed blonde hair and pouty lips, and a steely blue stare, like a sadistic nurse in a mental hospital” is exactly what initially attracted me to her back when she first turned up on the scene. I’m still in recovery, but it gets easier every year.

  1. Funny thing about Boris..
Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, popular historian … Johnson was given his middle name of “Boris” after a Russian émigré the couple had once met in Mexico. …. new wife, Johnson moved in a more liberal direction on issues like climate change…..
he is not the buffoon he makes out…
American and British citizenship. Upper class…born in New York.
Johnson has stated that “humour is a utensil that you can use to sugar the pill and to get important points across.”
    i know that one….
He ‘likes’ women … his wife is ‘tolerant’ she is bright…
    He is a classics scholar….
However…..when an article in The Telegraph upset him he e-mailed commissioning editor Sam Leith with the simple message
    “Fuck off and die”
    Hahahaha

    1. Hey ~dru~
I’ll settle for ‘anarchy’ Bessie Smith & ‘Gin’
      😉

  2. Boris Karloff is another one of those self-aggrandizing, scheming, twats that Britain seems to be cranking out more & more of. His climb to national/international status is another one of those “gifts” Britain leaving the EU has opened up. He sabotaged & jettisoned hopeless wanker and life-long rival, David Cameron. Now his sights are set on backstabbing the new PM and becoming the first PM without the “EU cuffs” restraining him.

While somewhat charming, humorous and less “conservative” (on the surface), I suspect those are marketing strategies to appeal to a more socially liberal crowd. But either way, I wouldn’t trust this guy with the shit I flushed down yesterday. Unfortunately, he may very well set the path that gets followed in Britain’s post-EU future.

His overall style is certainly Trump-ish…loud, cutting and he’s “whatever he needs to be at that moment”. However, his act is designed for the FAR more sophisticated British audience. That’s what makes him harder to read. And his act will serve him very well in a Europe-less Britain that will become even more co-dependant on America. America will probably fall for the guy, “a plain talking Tony Blair” and “a Brit we can relate to.”

    1. I don’t do co-dependent…
I flushed it down with the shit I did yesterday…
as for Tony Blair…he is a war criminal…..
As for the sophisticated Boris…. He ain’t a war criminal…
      Yet……..

  3. Keyword…”Yet”.

But once in power, the ever-competitive Boris will set out to make Blair look like a damn schoolboy! Considering the guy got into a physical fight with the (now ex) British PM, Boris might even commit the actual War Crimes personally!

And you might not “do co-dependant”. But in a few years time, a Britain led by the kind of total tossers running/ruining your nation for the last few decades might even pass Canuckistan in the American Co-Dependency Olympics….and that’s saying something!

I see a Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership in our collective futures. 🙂

  4. I think there are two important points here, both of which are prompted by both the article text, and the ensuing comments. My observations are these, to wit: A. Where did we learn all we know of Boris, and his peers? Mostly from reading about them, or at best, watching them on video/TV, etc; I would remind us all what we read, or see via digital communication is NOT what is real.

Second, no matter what any of them say, or which party/country they are part of, they are politicians. Their public words are, by the time they reach the higher levels, ALWAYS designed to create a certain impression/reaction, one that suits THEIR agenda, and no one else’s, especially not the public’s. They lie with facility; it is a required skill to engage in the work they are doing, which is just warfare by more civilized rules, Thus, deception is all…

So, let’s remember these two points when discussing any of the politicians on the stage, and try to remember as well, it is ALL a fucking delusion anyway….which is why it is falling apart in reality.

    gigoid, the dubious

    1. Civil War in France anyone….?
      The climate looks bad…
