Over last weekend Bernie squashed Clinton in a couple of races…..Washington, Alaska….of course that did little to help his delegate race with Hil….but at least the Big Mo is in his favor for the time being……
Bernie Sanders has won Saturday’s caucuses in Alaska, Washington state, and Hawaii as he fights to gain ground on Hillary Clinton, reports the AP. Washington was Saturday’s big prize with 101 delegates at stake, and Politico called a victory there “essential” to Sanders’ campaign hopes. The delegates will be awarded proportionately and Sanders was headed toward a lopsided win—good news for him given that he trailed Clinton by more than 300 pledged delegates heading into the day. It’s no surprise to see Sanders do well in Washington, notes Fox News. On Friday, he drew 10,000 to a rally in Seattle, one of the most liberal cities in the country. Seattle also leads the country in per-capita individual donations to Sanders—about $145 for every 100 people.
The story was largely the same in Alaska, where Sanders had a lead of nearly 60 points with more than a third of precincts reporting. Analysts say the overwhelming whiteness of Alaska, which has 16 delegates up for grabs, favored Sanders. The final 25 delegates of the day came from Hawaii’s caucuses. Throughout the campaign, Sanders has done better in caucuses than primaries. “The Deep South is a very conservative part of the country,” he tells the AP. “Now that we’re heading into a progressive part of the country, we expect to do much better. There is a path to victory.” That path, the AP notes, is steep: After the first two wins Saturday, Clinton’s delegate lead was 1,234 to 956 over Sanders, which widens considerably when superdelegates are included: 1,703 to 985.
This was good news for Bernie….but yet the media will not give him his props….they keep pushing, pushing Clinton and her “lead” as it were….these days the supporters, Berniacs are getting madder and madder…..is there a good reason for this anger?
Yet betcha…….
If you think that supporters of Bernie Sanders are first and foremost angry about matters of policy — for instance, the way our broken campaign finance laws, market regulations, and trade policies are destroying the hopes and ambitions of most of America — you’re absolutely right.

It is time for the media to give Bernie the respect he deserves.
I’m guessing pissed is the new normal for campaigns this year 😀 Here in WA, we were more a band of jubilant insurgents than angry. It’s the birdie symbology. Every sparrow deserves to eat and be free.
Long time no see…welcome back…..the media is definitely not on Bernie’s side….they take every opportunity to downplay any of his wins….
Thanks. Been fixin’ to retire. It takes more prep that I anticipated. Yeah, I don’t know what’s up with the media, but they don’t seem to be wired in for grassroots movement stories. It’s still an uphill slog, but it isn’t over yet!
I understand I was forced to retire 10 years ago and the paperwork kept me up at night…..good luck……..chuq
Re: the final line…. The time for the media to reform itself passed a long time ago, my friend…. It is an unfortunate conundrum that any news source, eventually, becomes entrenched in maintaining the status quo, thus becoming a tool for regression, rather than progress…. As long as we live under delusional systems of belief, there can be no sane result…
gigoid, the dubious
PS Told ya I was snarky today….

I wish others could see it for what it is….a con job…..TH, C
It is truly astounding that Bernie has done this well for so long. He’s already done FAR better than my best-case-scenario for him. He’s defied the odds & all predictions. Shit, if not for Super-Delegates, he might even win this.
But the media (and the establishment in general) really don’t want to talk about it much:
1) Above all, this is televised entertainment. Bernie just isn’t a “leading man”. He’s not young, handsome, charming, macho, or any of the empty bullshit that drives TV ratings. However, he’s a great “secondary character”; the crazy friend, the grumpy grandpa, etc. So the news divisions of these giant entertainment corporations will talk about Bernie, but will never concentrate on him for long. Guys like him can NEVER be allowed to dominate the show. George and Kramer may have been the most interesting characters on Seinfeld and drove the plots of many episodes, but Seinfeld was called Seinfeld for a reason. (“Show about nothing” comparison should be obvious.)
2) The media HATES being wrong. These guys don’t report on things after they happen anymore. They speculate/tell you what the future is going to be 3/4 of the time. Getting anything wrong exposes their “expert pundits” for the overpaid, empty shirts that they are. They look bad every time Bernie does better than expected….which, for the last month, is every single time he just makes it to the next Primary.
Do we really expect them to make the lead story “Hey, we fucked up again!”
Remember the 9 months of endless, inane, dribble oozing out of our expert panellists?….Well, we sure hope you don’t. Because we fucked up again!”
3) Bernie’s success really scares them Not because they fear his policies. They fear talking talking about them. They fear their corporate overlord’s reaction to Bernie’s success. It’s like a guy surrounded by a conversation about marriage while sitting next to his girlfriend of 10 years. He’s shutting down that conversation as fast as he can!
Bernie is screwed and Clinton will be the nominee and Trump may well win the whole thing……how depressing is all of that?
The corporate-owned Media are not about to support a self-declared “Socialist Democrat” because the very nature of Socialism is antithesis to privately-owned enterprise and speaks of (reeks of) collectivization and Government ownership. They will never support that!
The ownership, absolutely. But the reporters themselves don’t care who owns the media…as long as their cheques clear the bank. You’d be surprised how many FOX Noisers would eagerly cash their PBS cheques, if that was the only game in town.
Like their actor brethren, journos are total prossies.
🙂
A social democrat does not want to privatize the media…it is already there under what some want to call democracy.
It’s already there under what some others call “Corporatocracy.” Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it.
