Good News From The Syrian Ceasefire

Last week a ceasefire was implemented by most parties in the fighting in Syria…..that alone would be good news but it does not stop there…..

During the brittle ceasefire, protesters have returned to Syria’s streets to assert that the revolution continues……that’s right protests have return to the streets of many Syrian cities…….

This all began back in 2011……

Pro-democracy protests erupted in March 2011 in the southern city of Deraa after the arrest and torture of some teenagers who painted revolutionary slogans on a school wall. After security forces opened fire on demonstrators, killing several, more took to the streets.

The unrest triggered nationwide protests demanding President Assad’s resignation. The government’s use of force to crush the dissent merely hardened the protesters’ resolve. By July 2011, hundreds of thousands were taking to the streets across the country.

Opposition supporters eventually began to take up arms, first to defend themselves and later to expel security forces from their local areas.

Once the shots were fired then the country sank into the cycle never ending violence…..

Why would I take my reader on this trip back in recent history?

It seems the ceasefire has brought out those demonstrators that are looking for peace and democracy……

As soon as the cease-fire between President Bashar al-Assad’s regime and the opposition went into effect Feb. 27, protesters returned to Syria’s streets, bringing to mind the first protests staged five years ago calling for freedom and the overthrow of the government. In March 2011, the southern city of Daraa became the spark that lit the flame of the revolution. Soon after, protests spread to most of the country’s cities, from the coast all the way to Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and al-Jazeera.

If the ceasefire can hold then the possibility of a real change can happen in Syria….just the lack of all out violence is a positive change…..but if it can hold then there is a chance for some true substantial change to occur….

This is a small positive situation in a sea of negativity….

It is not a surprise to me of what can happen with a little help from rational minds….I am not saying that this will lead to a peaceful transition to democracy or some form of democracy but it is a positive step…..

    Ta ta..;)

  3. If you remember the comment on the previous post, re: grooming…. The situation in Syria is the same process, further down the line in time. Their grooming process burst into conflagration in 2011, as noted, and continues now, with one of the most lucrative markets for weapons currently in place on the planet’s surface, with Nigeria being set up for the coming years to provide the market expansion they require….

It won’t stop, until we stop them, or, they kill us all….
