It is official! The 2016 campaign season has begun! (Please put your brain in neutral and sit back).
Ted Cruz has announced his candidacy for the GOP nomination before a captive audience (attendance mandatory or be fined) at Liberty University. During his drawn out speech we got our first political slogan of the 2016 election season……”Reignite the promise of America”…….it will be the perfect slogan….why? There is no consensus on what the term means….leave it to the imagination of the weak minded and easily manipulated.
“I believe God isn’t done with America yet,” Mr. Cruz said during a speech at Liberty University, sending a strong signal that he plans to compete for the evangelical Christians that traditionally play a big role in the GOP nomination race.
“I believe in you. I believe in the power of millions of courageous conservatives rising up to reignite the promise in America,” he said. “And that is why today I am announcing that I am running for president of the United States.”
His little speech did one thing…..made me yawn……he went on and on and we now know what he is against…..marriage equality, immigration reform, Obamacare, the IRS, Communist and finally…..LOGIC!
All that is just peachy….we know what he is against……but what is he for? What are his alternatives to all those things? All I heard was his support for a flat tax……then NOTHING!
Cruz is the first to announce for one reason…..he can control the media for the next couple of weeks….plus he will be the center of attention…..the spotlight is his desire and now he has it….at least for awhile…..
Keep in mind…..”Reignite The Promise Of America”………maybe he will define this soon…..but do not hold your breath…….it is what it is….a slogan……
So my friends, hold on to your genitals you are about to be beat over the head with Cruz stories for the next couple of weeks….and after all that there is one thing for certain……
He will NOT be your GOP nominee!
There is one thing to be sure of……Cruz is about himself….never about the country…….he may lose but he will NOT go away……and that is the pathetic part.
