I have heard a lot of conserv commentators say that there is NO class war being waged in the US……..I know people do NOT want to hear it…..but I am sorry….but I cannot think of another term to use to describe what is being done to the working majority of this country……..how about the fight in Wisconsin? How about the labor wars in other “rust belt” states?…..check out the graphic….and then tell me what it is called!

There are story after story of how the working class is being manipulated at every turn….I cannot completely blame the conservs….after all the American people are dumb enough to fall for the rhetoric of the politicians……no matter how you cut it the working majority is getting the shaft and the corporations and the CEOs are getting the gold….if that is NOT class warfare….then you tell me what it is!
Here in Michigan, the newly elected Republican Gov, in order to (allegedly) help Michigan pay its bills is trying to tax pensions. The amount of money he is saving from this tax is exactly the amount of a reduction in taxes that he plans for corporations. He also is in the process of stripping financially troubled cities of their “rights of incorporation”, meaning he will be able to replace all democratically elected city officials with his own personal appointees. In Michigan, not only is the class war real, the war on democracy is also real!
bwin…..that seems to be the mantra of moist Repub governors……screw the working class while allowing the corporations and the rich rape the state…it has been so in my state since the 1980’s…..that is why we are the bottom of most lists……and now the rest of the country is heading down to challenge us….I feel some sorrow for the rest of the country…..

Of course there is a class war, though it is UTTERLY pointless – it’s even the wrong bloody fight! When was it EVER different under ANY system, including whatever kind of utopia Marx dreamed of from time to time? Frankly, I’ve never understood a lot of the crap he wrote because I don’t think HE understood PEOPLE in the first place! It’s all just bullshit – humanity is the problem – and the politically correct twats are just about the worst of all because they have this weird and unsubstantiated idea that they have a f*cking clue what they are talking about… The “workers” are just as big assholes as the elite – they’re simply poorer ones and THAT is no excuse for anything!
Try as many of us might to limit our involvement, humans are by nature racist, sexist, class conscious, stupid and largely bloody awful creatures – what other sort of animal would be sentient and take part in or excuse the mass attack on and gang rape of an eleven year old girl and then blame the victim for chrissake, as you recently posted about?
We are disgusting creatures and all the sociologists, psychiatrists and do-gooders (with VERY rare exceptions) make matters FAR worse by doing EXACTLY the wrong thing, simply because they know NOTHING and yet believe they know ALL!

NO. I agree with most of your reply, but THAT is always the point I try to make – you, we, ALL of us CANNOT change human nature and should not try – we can modify BEHAVIOUR to some degree and particularly agree on civilised conventions for living together in groups, but that will always be relatively superficial.
When people and particularly philosophers, sociologists and the rest stop pretending to know what they are talking about and MOST certainly what to DO about human nature, THEN we can start trying to work around and with it. Until then, yes, we’re f*cked!
Humans are NOT inherently religious, they are inherently superstitious, since they endlessly try to explain what they do not understand. THAT is a good thing – except that some religious nut comes up with a new “theory” that avoids the need to think and they all stop and blindly follow the jerk because it answers ALL questions by telling them not to ask them – “God moves in mysterious ways beyond the comprehension of mere mortals.” Yeah Right! Duh! Would you buy a used car from a guy like that?
I think that human nature is such an enigma that learned people try to understand why we do the things we do……as far as changing….you are right…we are f*cked…….I am beginning to feel that people,most people, do not want to think…..some are so use to being told that they need this or that……to the point that thought is out of the question…..”let someone else do the thinking” is becoming the norm or “I am paid to do, not think”….so I think that behavior is being modified, even as we type……

That is pretty much what I have often said – the so-called “class war” is a diversion – almost a side-issue and frequently totally counterproductive because of it. The REAL war is about devising and implementing a truly democratic system. Such a system is no nearer becoming a reality than it was in ancient Greece – in fact, it’s probably further away.

This whole conversation got me to thinking (and it hurts) and I have been working on a capitalism post……coming to a blog near you….lol
I am agog! However, in the meantime… Present company excepted, the right may be assholes, but so are the left. The result is ALWAYS that the silent majority, the broadly decent people of our societies, gets screwed by someone – left, right, it makes no goddamned difference to most of us…
Once again an a/hole is an a/hole…you are right…again……and there is my point, well sort of, the silent majority….if they remain silent they will be f*cked unmercifully…..but until they want to be involved and I mean something other than the damn silly votes they cast…..then they will continually have a sore butt…..
