For over a year I have been bitching about the GOP and thei9r obvious lack of alternatives to a Dem plan and their lack of leadership and take every opportunity to try and find some sort of actual plan and leadership…….
Since I live less than an hour from New Orleans, I thought I would spend some time checking out the Southern Republican Leadership Conference (SRLC) being held in the Big Easy.
Day one–Damn there are a lot of suits! I saw the typical BS from conservs and listened to the typical anti-Obama stuff…you know all the crap you hear on the tube? I even saw Hannerity of FOX News fame hawking his latest book…….Liz Cheney was suppose to be there but I did not see her (thanx for small favors). Then I listened to the Newt-ster ….he talked…he rattled and it boiled down to the usual….Obama sucks and tax cuts……once again there were no alternatives on how to put the country back on the right track…..just Obama Sucks!
Day two–do these people ever change suits? More of day one…..opposition, misinformation and what appears to be more lies……the conservs were wound up tight…..Obama sucks! And then along came Palin…..Sarah, Sarah, Sarah…….applause, applause…..talk, talk……..Our Lady Of The North……she delivered on her usual folksy rhetoric that had no base in reality…..she mock the president to the point of embarrassment…..and as usual she joined in the chorus of…Obama Sucks! She also joined in the opposition and offered NOTHING in the way of a solution to the problems other than Obama sucks…….
The title of the this conference was Southern Republican Leadership……a misnomer…..it should have been the dance of the clowns…..if this was to offer up a leader for the GOP then it has failed miserably….it was more like an evening at the Improv than a political conference……..if this conference was put together to find a leader for the upcoming elections, then it failed horribly….all they accomplished was to give a platform to those with NO solutions, just cute little quips that does nothing to garner small applause…..this conference has nothing to do with political leadership, rather more like sour grapes….
Sorry to say that the GOP is still a rudderless ship with no captain, a circus with NO ring master…..2 days of observation was all I could stomach…this was NOT even good political theater….GOP, R.I.P.
Yeah, I sympathise. It’s pretty much where the Tories were 15 years ago in the UK – and look what happened to OUR country as a result – f*cking Labour!
That said, I’m never a fan of taxes and (although it should NOT need to be so because the government already has WAY more than it really needs) if that means doing without some services to cut the State down to size, then I’d accept that. It’s not true of everyone by any means, of course, but most people are only dependent on the State because it’s already stolen all their goddamned money AND driven them into a bureaucratic corner where they don’t have a darned move left to make for their own betterment or salvation.
Look at it this way – the single WORST cause of inflation ALL OVER THE WORLD is tax! ANY tax! ALL taxes in ANY form are ALWAYS inflationary! I accept that some are necessary, but I’m far more prepared to put up with a small amount if they only do what I, or even the majority, want and do it well. But they are ALL still just palying the political game, which has NOTHING to do with running a country!
Women can multi task, so they say… That’s good in some contexts I guess, but I’d rather do ONE thing at a time and do it WELL! Government, though, wants more and more fingers in more and more pies and it rarely does ANYTHING well!
I’m depressing myself, so I’ll stop there! 😆
The meeting in NO showed me that the GOP does not have a clue….opposition is all they have…..and it is lame at best….
New Orleans does sound like a facinating place though – from all I’ve heard. Why, though, would the GOP decide to hold a convention there?
Oh it is…NO is the capital of debauchery…..I love it! A lot of groups hold their meeting s there……US is full of perverts….it is great!
I’ve noticed that about Americans (but Brits are catching up fast) – talk to almost any American and everyone else is a pervert – just not them!
So many people, just like most governments, simply don’t seem to understand, or want to embrace individuality, whatever they claim.
Americans are proud of their individuality and they run in packs……confusing huh?
