Let’s Get Those Damn Terrorists!

While surfing the other day I came across the recent Quinnipiac national poll….there was much in there about Obama’s popularity, personal and policy, but the part that fascinated me was the question and answers on Afghanistan.

When asked if they, the people who answered, do you approve or disapprove of the Obama handling of Afghanistan…..38% approve, 49% disapprove…..then they were asked: do you think the US is doing the right thing in Afghanistan?…..45% is yes, 41% say no…..when asked if a democratic government in Afghanistan a worthwhile goal……34% yes, 56% no…..

But now the telling question that was asked:  do you think that the elimination of terrorists in operating in Afghanistan a worthwhile cause?……65% said yes and 29% said No…….

I will bet you are asking why is that a telling question, right?

To me it shows that the normal American is not paying attention to the situation in Afghanistan….why would I say that?

I believe that Al Qaeda, the terrorist organization that we originally went into Afghanistan, to get is now operating from the mountains of Pakistan…..the Taleban did not have anything to do with 9/11 other than letting AQ use some training facilities within their borders….the Taleban maybe a terrorist group, but it is against its own people and not an international one….

The original plan was to get terrorists but since the invasion of the country, we have been playing defense more than offense….why?…..the Taleban is fighting to rid their country of what they see as occupiers that threw them out of their position of power….they only want to return to the “ivory tower”….nothing else…..

Americans, with their answers show they do NOT have a grasp of the situation….only what they hear on FOX or MSNBC or CNN…..in other words, I return to one of my favorite things…..rational ignorance effect……(look it up…my page will help)

  1. To be honest, I don’t know why we are still in Afghanistan. It certainly not for the original mission. If it was, the war should have moved in Pakistan. The only thing that I can think is that we are trying to build a puppet government.

    1. And we CANNOT invade a “friendly” country….that would be similar to Russia and hungary in the 50’s…….so they keep finding ways to play the game….the terror industrial complex has becomea beast that needs finding often….

      1. Both you and Terrant are right of course. However, if there was any justification for going into Iraq, there’s twice as much for Afghanistan.

I’m sorry to say this because it sounds like I’m making light of 9/11 and I’m not, but the fact is that the Taleban IS fighting a terrorist war against the West and has been doing so for years – 9/11 is just one small act when compared with that.

They support, nuture and fund the huge poppy growing industry and export the resultant drugs at an enormous profit mainly to the West where they are used to cause untold damage and expense to our cultures. That is done largely for profit, but also as terrorist action against us whom, don’t lets kid ourselves, they hate – not least because we encourage our women to be free and equal rather than mere male possessions.

The Taleban is an evil blot on humanity – one of many I agree, but an evil blot none the less – and they also help to provide funding and assistance to other terrorist organisations, such as AQ. They are evil and they should be put down like the rogue, mad animals they are.

I couldn’t agree more that a democratic government is neither likely, nor probably even desirable in what is and always has been a tribal society. To my mind though, the Taleban is, however, an enemy of the West and they DO attack us indirectly – constantly and they are a serious threat.

Yes, the Terrorist Industrial Complex is indeed very active, but I don’t personally think it’s got much to do with Afghanistan.

Furthermore, just because the Taleban and AQ have both retreated into the Pakistan mountains doesn’t mean we can move out because, if we do, they’ll ALL be right back in place the following day – and hell bent on revenge.

Right or wrong, we started and now we have to finish it – whatever and however long it takes.

      2. Of course they will be back…at least the Taleban could possibly be brided into keeping AQ in Pakistan where it could be hit and possibly destroyed by a combined force of allies and the Pak army…..with the invention of Homeland Security the US has invented a hungry beast for taxpayer cash……once unleashed will be hard to cage again…..

      3. Oh undoubtedly. I just don’t see what that’s really got to do with Afghanistan. What the the TIC needs is a 9/11 to whop up fear and need for it in the population… not that I’m suggesting any kind of conspiracy, of course…

      4. Why not? There are many conspiracists out there….might as well join in the fun….lol…..Afghanistan will soon be getting more and more funds from the TIC…….

      5. Hmm… perhaps my sarcasm was even more subtle than I intended. However, to be more direct, of course there’s a conspiracy – it’s what the Terror Industrial Complex thrives on. The difficulty is that their thinking is often so convoluted that I think even they frequently struggle to follow it.

None of that changes the fact that there will certainly be a flow of money towards Afghanistan, but the TIC wants money to flow towards IT! That requires an increase rather than a decrease in the level of fear regarding homeland security.

Wait and see what happens, eh?

  2. There is a war against the US – IN THE US. And the citizens are sad Oprah is quitting. The President is just golfing and dithering. Holder is giving terrorist rights. And Congress is pushing their socialist agenda.

    IS ANYONE GOING TO WAKE-UP?

    1. Lockandload thanx for stopping by and I appreciate the comment……I have to respectfully disagree with you on almost everything you have written….I will agree that there are those that are at war within our borders…..as far as the rights thing….please read my post And The Constitution Says……it is within the bounds of the Constitution……as for the socialist thing…in my early years as a politico I was a socialist (not naymore) but believe me there is NOTHING the Congress is doing that can be called socialist…..and the Prez dithering thing….personally, I believe that the troops will be sent….but I appreciate the fact that he is taking time before sending more Americans to die or be maimed……All Presidents play the damn silly game of golf……it is a waste of time no matter who is president…..

once again thanx for commented and please stop by often…I alweays appreciate an exchange of views…..
