OMG! It Is About Race!

That is what some of the blouted windbags on conservative radio would have you believe about the Powell endorsement of Obama.  These ill tempered parasites have started their cute little program of slandering Powell because he came out in Obama’s corner on Sunday.

To infer that Powell does not have the intelligence to make an informed decision is just flippin’ insulting to a good American vet.  The conservs set about trying to lessen the impact of the endorsement by saying that it is no big deal and then before they take a good breath they are picking apart everything he said.  The Repub surrogates are trying everything to lessen the impact of this endorsement by employing mouthpieces like Rush to do their dirty work of attacking Gen. Powell.

Sad that a man that apparently did take his time and with much thought then his decision is attacked.    Powell went into a 7 or 8 minute explanation of why he chose Obama and worked without notes or a teleprompter.

It looks like tthe McCain campaign is desperate and will say and do anything to try an find something that will register with the undecided.  But I think that attacking Gen, Powell is probably not their wisest course.

  1. People aren’t color blind and Colin Powell was for the war in Iraq and told the United Nations that he was sure that Iraq had WMD. How can Obama hug up to Powell and not Bush! Color!

  2. It seems like to me that the republicans are engaging in something that they criticize the democrats about: blaming someone else for their mistakes.

The truth is that Bush has severely damaged the republican brand that it is going to take a while to fix it. Instead of acknowledging their shortcomings, they find someone/something else to blame.

The republicans are behind in the polls, it must be the liberal media. The campaign is nasty, it’s Obama’s fault for not agreeing to 10-15 town hall debates. Powell endorsed Obama, he must be a racist then. The economy is in the crapper, it must be the democrat led congress (never mind that the republicans have controlled it for 8 of the last 10 years).

There is no difference between the two groups in this regards.

  3. Hiya goodtime–I beleive the reason that he left the Bush admin was because he was lied to at every turn. I will agree that people aren’t color blind, but to say that is the only reason he made the decision is an insult to the man’s intelligence.

  4. Yes, I agree with Lobotero that people aren’t necessarily color-blind. I KNOW people, by association (NOT “friends” of mine) who are admittedly black voting black, and white voting white, only because they don’t want the black guy to win or they DO want the black guy to win. I’ve asked them about the issues and candidates’ policies and these folks don’t know a damn thing. There are plenty of ignorant people… black, white or of any other race. But Powell? He’s so intelligent and honorable that you just can’t equate him with some random guy on the street who has no clue about what’s going on in this country and likes what he sees when it’s a black (or white) guy talking. Powell is above and beyond such stupidity and ignorance. He would not make a decision based on race. He’s voted for plenty of white folks in his lifetime already, hasn’t he? Give me a break, the GOP would damn anyone with half a brain who will say aloud that Obama is the better choice.
