Oh Tulsi, Seriously?

I admit it back in 2020 primary season I was a supporter of Tulsi Gabbard basically because of her antiwar positions…..and apparently I was hoodwinked, which does not happen often, in supporting her run for the nomination.

Since her exit from politics after she dropped out of the 2020 race she has become this person that bears no relation to the candidate of the 2020 election…..she has now started showing her true colors….

Former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has endorsed Donald Trump, furthering her shift away from the party she sought to represent in the 2020 presidential election and linking herself to critiques of Vice President Kamala Harris and the chaotic Afghanistan War withdrawal. Gabbard, a National Guard veteran who served two tours of duty in the Middle East before representing Hawaii in the House, said Trump “understands the grave responsibility that a president and commander in chief bears for every single one of our lives,” per the AP.

Gabbard appeared with Trump in Detroit on Monday at the National Guard Association of the United States on the third anniversary of the 2021 suicide bombing at Hamid Karzai International Airport, which killed 13 US service members and more than 100 Afghans. Gabbard, now an independent, praised Trump for “having the courage to meet with adversaries, dictators, allies, and partners alike in the pursuit of peace, seeing war as a last resort.” She condemned the Democratic White House for the US now “facing multiple wars on multiple fronts in regions around the world and closer to the brink of nuclear war than we ever have been before.”

Gabbard was known during her four House terms for taking positions at odds with her own party’s establishment. She was an early and vocal supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential primary run, which made her popular with progressives. Not seeking reelection in 2020, Gabbard ran for president herself instead, saying that US wars in the Middle East destabilized the region, made the US less safe, and cost thousands of American lives, and that Democrats and Republicans shared the blame. She tore into Harris’ record during a primary debate and ultimately outlasted her in that race. Also Monday, Trump’s team said Gabbard would moderate a town hall with Trump on Thursday in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Seriously?

How does a person go from supporting a progressive like Bernie to endorsing a far Right candidate like Trump?

I can no longer take her and her words seriously.

I Read, I Write, You Know

Please Vote But Not For Him

The 2016 election is close and as usual the dialog has digressed into immature babble…..issues no longer matter only gossip and insults…..one side has digressed into 4th grade tit for tat playground bickering….it is all too fucking silly for words.

Then there is the “picking on pitiful me” thing…..I mean these people are the same people that have been “picking on” Clintons for a decade (not that they do not deserve the scrutiny)……neither camp can actually talk about issues or solutions…just political platitudes for the idiots…..

Not a big fan of USA Today but they have done something that no other newspaper has done……given a non-endorsement……

USA Today has never taken sides in a presidential election before—but Donald Trump has never run for president before. In a blistering editorial, which can be seen in full here, the paper’s editorial board says it has decided to break with 34 years of tradition because Trump is simply “unfit for the presidency.” “He has demonstrated repeatedly that he lacks the temperament, knowledge, steadiness, and honesty that America needs from its presidents,” the board writes, urging readers to “resist the siren song of a dangerous demagogue” and vote for anybody but Trump.

The editorial board says that while it was united against Trump, it was not united in favor of Clinton because while some believe she would serve ably as president, others had reservations about issues including her “lack of candor” and her “extreme carelessness in handling classified information.” “Our bottom-line advice for voters is this: Stay true to your convictions,” which could mean a vote for Clinton, a third-party candidate, or a “focus on down-ballot candidates who will serve the nation honestly,” they write. (The Arizona Republicfaced a backlash after endorsing a Democrat for the first time in 126 years.)

Reasons for there op-ed is as follows…….

He is erratic. Trump has been on so many sides of so many issues that attempting to assess his policy positions is like shooting at a moving target. A list prepared by NBC details 124 shifts by Trump on 20 major issues since shortly before he entered the race. He simply spouts slogans and outcomes (he’d replace Obamacare with “something terrific”) without any credible explanations of how he’d achieve them.

He is ill-equipped to be commander in chief. Trump’s foreign policy pronouncements typically range from uninformed to incoherent. It’s not just Democrats who say this. Scores of Republican national security leaders have signed an extraordinary open letter calling Trump’s foreign policy vision “wildly inconsistent and unmoored in principle.” In a Wall Street Journal column this month, Robert Gates, the highly respected former Defense secretary who served presidents of both parties over a half-century, described Trump as “beyond repair.”

This editorial ought to get the micro-brain supporters up in arms…..(good times)

But to be honest I would say…please vote but not for the 2 biggies…….a better world is possible…but not with them.

Christie Makes The News (Again)

Just days ago NJ Gov Christie made the news by dropping out of contention for the GOP nomination……but he just cannot let go of the limelight…..

After months of trying to get a foothold with the electorate and bad mouthing Donald Trump…he just had to make news yet again…..

A big get for Donald Trump: Chris Christie endorsed him Friday in a surprise announcement, CNN reports. “The best person to beat Hillary Clinton on that stage last night is undoubtedly Donald Trump,” Christie said during a press conference with Trump in Texas. Trump’s response: “Generally speaking I’m not big on endorsements,” but “this was an endorsement that really meant a lot.” Both men noted their longstanding friendship, with Trump saying Christie had been a friend for “many years” and Christie saying their friendship goes back a decade, the New York Times reports.

Both Christie and Trump derided Marco Rubio during the appearance, with Christie saying the senator is not qualified for the presidency and Trump mocking him for wearing “a pile of makeup” during Thursday night’s debate: “I saw him backstage and he was putting it on with a trowel,” he said. “I said Marco, easy with the makeup, you don’t need that much.” So, is this all about Christie aiming for a spot in a hypothetical Trump administration? Asked about what position he’d like, Christie said that after he finishes his gubernatorial term in New Jersey he plans to “go into private life and make money like Trump.”

You would think that would be enough to make his name a household word for at least a week or so……but nope….there is MORE…..

Gov. Chris Christie was hospitalized this morning after he complained of having trouble breathing, according to the governor’s office.

A spokesman, Michael Drewniak, said Christie suffers from asthma, and was taken to Somerset Medical Center in Somerville “out of an abundance of caution.”

Drewniak said the governor was “doing fine” and undergoing tests.

Compromising one’s principles does have consequences……

The gravity of his condition aside…..you realize that this will be fodder for every late night comic in the world, right?

OMG! It Is About Race!

That is what some of the blouted windbags on conservative radio would have you believe about the Powell endorsement of Obama.  These ill tempered parasites have started their cute little program of slandering Powell because he came out in Obama’s corner on Sunday.

To infer that Powell does not have the intelligence to make an informed decision is just flippin’ insulting to a good American vet.  The conservs set about trying to lessen the impact of the endorsement by saying that it is no big deal and then before they take a good breath they are picking apart everything he said.  The Repub surrogates are trying everything to lessen the impact of this endorsement by employing mouthpieces like Rush to do their dirty work of attacking Gen. Powell.

Sad that a man that apparently did take his time and with much thought then his decision is attacked.    Powell went into a 7 or 8 minute explanation of why he chose Obama and worked without notes or a teleprompter.

It looks like tthe McCain campaign is desperate and will say and do anything to try an find something that will register with the undecided.  But I think that attacking Gen, Powell is probably not their wisest course.

Clinton Endorses Obama (Finally)

Sen. Hillary Clinton conceded the Democratic presidential nomination to rival Sen. Barack Obama on Saturday, suspending her groundbreaking campaign to become America’s first female president with a vow to work tirelessly to elect the first black president.

“Today, I’m standing with Sen. Obama to say, ‘Yes, we can,’ ” Clinton said, using Obama’s own signature slogan to endorse the presumptive nominee, who bested her in a grueling campaign that began 17 months ago with her as the front-runner.

The way to continue our fight now to accomplish the goals for which we stand is to take our energy, our passion, our strength and do all we can to help elect Barack Obama the next president of the United States,” she declared. “Today, as I suspend my campaign, I congratulate him on the victory he has won and the extraordinary campaign he has run. I endorse him and throw my full support behind him, and I ask you to join me in working as hard for Barack Obama as you have for me.”

Clinton said, “This has been a tough fight, but the Democratic Party is a family, and now it’s time to restore the ties that bind us together and to come together.”

She was generous in her praise of the onetime rival whose fitness to serve as the country’s chief executive and commander in chief she once questioned. “I’ve had a front-row seat to his candidacy, and I have seen his strength and determination, his grace and his grit,” she said.

Ok I was mistaken!  She has endorsed Obama and made nice-nice, but what will the outcome be?  Come on Clintonistas–someone tell me what you think.  First, everyone was pissed and now they are silent…is that good or bad?  Will the 25% that said they will vote for McCain, actually do just that?  Where are the verbaslly challenged that were so pissed last Sunday?

Will Clinton Suspend And Endorse?

All day Wednesday, the day after the last two campaigns, pundits from the media were out in force speculating just what Clinton will do.  There were more opinions than hairs on ones head, but all that speculation will be at an end this coming weekend.

The New York senator will end her quest for the Democratic presidential nomination late this week, according to a senior campaign aide and a top fundraiser who said they could not talk on the record because they were not authorized to comment on the plan.

Clinton’s campaign issued a less-than-definitive statement saying she would host an event here Saturday “to thank her supporters and express her support for Sen. Obama and party unity.” The campaign said the event was moved from Friday to Saturday to allow more people to attend.

While some in the party urged patience in allowing Clinton time to accept defeat, others said it was time to move on. Top Democrats, led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, said in a pointed statement that “Democrats must now turn our full attention to the general election.”

Even some Clinton supporters made clear that they were hoping for closure. Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., a home-state stalwart for Clinton, said it was “confusing” that she hadn’t endorsed Obama. “There’s only one candidate out there,” he said on MSNBC. “The time has come.”

I have been asking for a month or more, just what does Clinton want out of this situation.  There has been anger here about her Michigan and Florida outcome, but as of yet NO one has an opinion on what she wants for her support.
