The group ICE just had its largest raid to date and it is in my home state…..

US immigration officials raided numerous Mississippi food processing plants Wednesday, arresting 680 mostly Latino workers in what marked the largest workplace sting in at least a decade, the AP reports. The raids, planned months ago, happened just hours before President Trump was scheduled to visit El Paso, Texas, the majority-Latino city where a man linked to an online screed about a “Hispanic invasion” was charged in a shooting that left 22 people dead in the border city. Workers filled three buses—two for men and one for women—at a Koch Foods Inc. plant in tiny Morton, 40 miles east of Jackson. They were taken to a military hangar to be processed for immigration violations. About 70 family, friends and residents waved goodbye and shouted, “Let them go! Let them go!” Later, two more buses arrived.

A tearful 13-year-old boy whose parents are from Guatemala waved goodbye to his mother, a Koch worker, as he stood beside his father. About 600 agents fanned out across the plants involving several companies, surrounding the perimeters to prevent workers from fleeing. The raids occurred in small towns near Jackson with a workforce made up largely of Latino immigrants, including Bay Springs, Carthage, Canton, Morton, Pelahatchie and Sebastapol. Some employees tried to flee on foot but were caught in the parking lot. Workers who were confirmed to have legal status were allowed to leave the plant after having their trunks searched. “It was a sad situation inside,” said Domingo Candelaria, a legal resident and Koch worker who said authorities checked employees’ identification documents.

Trump just let a horrific news report step all over his day with the two affected cities.

It would be laughable if it were not so damn pathetic.

All I can think is stupid in, stupid out!

On the first day of school….this is not who we are as a country…this is so goddamn pathetic that it makes me ill.

I will admit that we need better immigration laws….but not when it makes victims of children.

So much ink, so many words, and so much emotions have been spilled over the so-called “illegal aliens” in this country.

We all have heard the horror stories about children in cages….or the myth of the freebie seekers…..or the criminals …….so much and in it all is ICE who are starting to act like a Gestapo-esque group under this president.

The companies involved are the same companies that were getting slave labor from local state prisons…..so now what penalties do these companies face or are they considered guiltless?

This situation with ICE should be unacceptable to all Americans….to turn a blind eye is a vote of approval ofm thism heavy handed BS of the Trump policies.

If you were expecting to see our ICE agents kicking down doors and wrestling people into “paddy wagons” then you are bummed.

The postponed raids to arrest thousands of migrant families in at least 10 cities across the country now are scheduled to begin Sunday. The ICE raids are to take place over more than one day and are aimed at families already ordered to leave. But they also could involve the deportations of immigrants agents happen across, the New York Times reports. The cities where raids were planned before include Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York and San Francisco, per CNN.

Your president told the country of the new sweep through our communities looking for and arresting illegal immigrants……all was slated to begin on Sunday, 14 July……

A federal plan to detain at least 2,000 immigrants in a nationwide sweep Sunday has devolved into a handful of low-key raids with few if any arrests, the New York Times reports. The plan for ICE agents to dramatically round up immigrants who have removal orders—which was highly publicized and hotly debated—changed after media reports alerted immigrants about what was coming, Homeland Security officials say. So the sweep was replaced by isolated raids in Chicago, New York, Florida, and perhaps elsewhere. A Chicago mother and her daughters were arrested and let go under supervision, a source says, while three ICE raids in New York resulted in little or nothing and South Florida remained quiet, the Miami Heraldreports.

“We don’t know if they’re doing it on purpose—saying these cities are the targets so then smaller places are targeted,” a Miami-based advocate tells the LA Times. So-called “ICE chasers” in the Atlanta suburbs, who help immigrants once they’re arrested, eventually gave up Sunday and went back to the office of an advocacy group for doughnuts and coffee. The leader of a similar response team in Los Angeles saw no arrests but said time was well-spent informing undocumented workers about what to expect from ICE raids. Meanwhile, many immigrants are likely hiding indoors (ICE agents aren’t allowed to break in) or at far-off locations until the heat dies down. Yet immigration authorities say they still plan to conduct raids in 10 or more cities throughout the week.

All that tough talk and threats were typical of this admin….a bit of a limp wanker.

Closing Thought–05Jun19

Recently a story was reported about the children arrested and held on the border…..some were left in vans for hours on end before processing….

Under the blistering Texas sun last July, 37 migrant children boarded vans for what was supposed to be a 30-minute ride. At the end of the road from Harlingen to Los Fresnos lay the promise of hugs, kisses and long overdue reunification with their parents, from whom they were taken when the Trump administration began systematically separating migrant families who crossed the border illegally.

But when the children, all between 5 and 12 years old, arrived at Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s adults-only Port Isabel Detention Center, rather than seeing their parents, they saw a parking lot full of vans just like theirs, with children from other facilities who, just like them, were waiting to be processed and reunified with their parents.

It was 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, 2018.

Not until 39 hours later — after two nights in a van — did the last child step out of a van to be reunited. Most spent at least 23 hours in the vehicles.

Where is the outrage?

Even a dog left in a hot van gets move sympathy that children…..this is not a country that I recognize any more…..these are children and Americans seem to not care…..not people I want to associate with on a daily basis.

But wait!  There is more!

For the past year and a half, Dr. Eric Russell has been traveling from Houston to McAllen, Texas, every three months or so to volunteer at the Catholic Charities Humanitarian Respite Center, a first stop for many asylum-seeking migrants who’ve been released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in the Rio Grande Valley.

During his most recent visit to the clinic in April, when he saw more than 150 migrants, he noted a troubling new trend: a number of people reported that their medication had been taken from them by U.S. border officials.

There are laws that protect animals from this torture….but not children?

This is a low point…it is pathetic….and anyone that defends this is as pathetic as the policy.

A few weeks ago the Right Wing media was all outraged by the senseless attack on some ICE agents on the border….it was so damn important that it lead Fearless Fosdick to Tweet out his outrage at this savage attack by those damn “illegals”….this went on for a couple of days until something else popped up to grab the Right wing’s attention….like a shiny set of keys.

I want to know if they are so dedicated to the “truth” how they will handle this news…..

A Texas sheriff who was among the first people to reach two badly injured US Border Patrol agents said he thinks they were hurt in an accident, not an attack, the AP reports. The injured agents were found Nov. 18 next to Interstate 10 near Van Horn, which is about 30 miles from the border with Mexico. Agent Rogelio Martinez succumbed to traumatic head injuries and broken bones. His partner, who has not been identified, was seriously injured and hospitalized for several days. The agent has no memory of what happened that night. Culberson County Sheriff Oscar Carrillo said he thinks a tractor-trailer may have accidentally sideswiped the pair, the Dallas Morning News reported. I-10 is a heavily traveled route for truck drivers and accidents regularly occur, Carrillo said.

“From the beginning we were radioed to assist in the incident as an injury, not an assault,” Carrillo said. “If this was an assault, believe me, as sheriff, I’d be the first one out there emphasizing safety in our community and with our deputies.” It’s not clear why Martinez and his partner were along the highway and US Customs and Border Protection only said in a statement that they “were responding to activity.” A Border Patrol union, the National Border Patrol Council, has said the pair was attacked and struck with a rock or rocks. President Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz, and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott also have said the two were attacked. Special Agent in Charge Emmerson Buie Jr. in the FBI’s El Paso office said last week that investigators were treating the incident as a “potential assault,” but they could not rule out other scenarios.

Don’t bother looking for they will ignore this news and just keep push their brand of hate and vile….as always…..they got their hate out of the original story….so no need to report on the rest of the story if it craps on their hate filled rants.

The Economic Impacts of Removing Unauthorized Immigrant Workers

Every election has its diatribes about all those sneaky immigrants and as usual this one is no exception……..but this time the debate seems to be more “nasty” for lack of a better word.

The promise of one of our 2016 elections has promised to “rid” the country of all those “illegals” and the off-spring……a great applause line and possible vote generator….but is it realistic?

Is that a wise promise to try and keep?  Economically, that is?

The United States as a whole, as well as each state, stands to suffer widespread economic losses under a policy that removes unauthorized immigrants.

In every state and in every industry across the United States, immigrants—authorized and unauthorized—are contributing to the U.S. economy. Immigrant labor and entrepreneurship are believed to be powerful forces of economic revitalization for communities struggling with population decline. Estimates suggest that the total number of unauthorized immigrants currently residing in the United States is approximately 11.3 million, or about 3.5 percent of the total 2015 resident population of 324.4 million. Of those 11.3 million, we estimate that 7 million are workers. What is the economic contribution of these unauthorized workers? What would the nation stand to lose in terms of production and income if these workers were removed and returned to their home countries?

America And The Immigrants

For a decade this country has been having a debate about those illegal aliens streaming (their words not mine) across the border and stealing jobs and getting a free ride on the welfare gravy train…….one of the deals to help this situation is that these immigrants could join the military and if they serve honorably then they will be fast tracked to the citizenship thing….

Personally, I think it is a good idea….but beyond that how has this program worked out for the immigrants?

Countless foreign-born US veterans were deported after the federal government failed to assist in their naturalisation process, a new report by the American Civil Liberties Union said.

According to the report, many of the soldiers, whose service dated back to the Vietnam War, were deported after facing charges for minor misdemeanors – which can be deportable offences – and courts were not allowed to consider military service.

“By requiring deportation and stripping immigration courts of the power to consider military service, the United States government abandons these veterans by expelling them to foreign countries at the moment when they most need the government’s help to rehabilitate their lives after service,” Bardis Vakili, a senior staff attorney with the ACLU of California, said in a press release. “This is a tragic and disgraceful example of how broken our immigration system is.”

Immigrants: A Personal Observation

I know that the subject of immigration is not so important right now….you see since Oregon the mental midgets have moved on to the gun reform issue….apparently they can only handle one issue at a time.

This will be me breaking from a rule I have had for myself……I have tried to stay away from personal observations because it is usually met with condescension and insulting words…..but this immigrant thing is getting out of hand with all the accusations and such……

First, let me say I am NOT saying this is the norm……because I have NO idea what it is like in your area….this is just observations I made over a 6 month period here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Since 2005 there has been an influx of immigrants coming into the area because of the reconstruction after Hurricane Katrina in 2005……and since 2006 the area has been growing by leaps and bounds……

First I worked for the state housing authority and we were first responders 2 hours after the wind died down we were at work….there was massive amounts of debris and we hired people to remove this debris at $10 an hour…..we hired 15 people…of those 15 5 were immigrants, legal or not do not know…we needed people and we hired them as they came looking for a job.  Anyway after 10 days I had 5 people left for debris removal….the 5 immigrants…the Americans had quite or just walked off the job…..one even told me that he did not know it would be such hard work…..others never said just cut and run…..I would hire those 5 guys again if I needed them.

While working for the Housing Authority I had 125 units that I was responsible for and of those units none were rented by immigrants…..I worked there for 10 years and none were there in my tenure…..

Next observation is a medical one……a family member had battled cancer, heart attack and major surgery in a 4 month period….I spent a lot of time in emergency rooms over a 3 month period…..there are 3 major medical outlets in my town and I visited all three……after multiple visits I can tell you that not once in any of the ERs was a immigrant waiting to be treated…..granted I was not there 24/7 but the odd times I was there I saw no one that I would point to a call an immigrant.

Lastly is all that “free stuff” that immigrants are stealing from the government….all I can address here is the EBT card abuse that I hear so much about.

I shop in 3 major food chains for my area and usually go on Saturdays or Sundays……one of the stores has a major immigrant consumer base and I have observed the habits of the people when buying their food….and in the six months that I observed the habits I not once saw someone use an EBT card (we do not have food stamps anymore)…….the people are not buying junk but rather traditional food stuffs…..I could not find any abuse……

With the data that I have available to me….my conclusion is there is NO wide spread abuse….at least in my area.  So if there is no abuse the best I can say for the accusations is that they are…….LIES!

I know this is not what most people opposed to the immigrants want to hear…..like I said…this is my observations…but if you truly want answer for being genuinely concerned then……..Try this simple test research in your area……see if you are being lied to by you fave reporters.  That is if you want to know or if you had rather spend your time believing CRAP!

Once again…I cannot speak to these situations being typical everywhere….I am just telling what I have observed in my area……

What everyone gets wrong about “anchor babies” – Vox

The last week has been a wonderful week….the internet went batcrap crazy with immigration again but this time it was about the use of the term “anchor babies”….

There was a back and forth that was ….well…..amusing.

I know we all have our opinions on immigrants both documented and undocumented……..and it is vogue to despise one or the other….but some are taking it too far….like a supporter of Trump that told Jorge Ramos to go back to his country….the problem is he is an American citizen!

It appears that it is getting to the point that if you speak Spanish (for now…..I am sure that will change in the near future…..we will always have someone to mistrust) you are here illegally.

Okay will all that said now I ask….just how much damage do “anchor babies” do to this country?

This press oughta get some juices flowing….probably NOT in a good way……

Our man Donald has brought the subject of immigration back to the forefront of political dialog…….of course his characterization of illegals as rapists is just beyond the pail….

Of course now that immigration has returned we will hear about the ones that commit crimes…..what is that 1 in 1000?

My problem is that NO one looks at the economic side of this subject……I mean besides the faux disaster of them using up all the welfare in a state……I am talking about economic impact……

So why not look at all aspects of immigration not just the stuff that one wants to bitch about……
