This month in History in 1967 ended the so-called Six Day War…..and the West has pushed the narrative that the Israelis had to go to war in protection of their right to exist…

We all have heard, read or seen the saga of just how the Israelis crushed the Arab forces…..

A newly declassified document shed some new light on this piece of history……

At a little after 7 on the morning of June 5, 1967, as Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser’s commanders were finishing their breakfasts and driving to work, French-built Israeli fighter jets roared out of their bases and flew low, below radar, into Egyptian airspace. Within three hours, 500 Israeli sorties had destroyed Nasser’s entire air force. Just after midday, the air forces of Jordan and Syria also lay in smoking ruins, and Israel had essentially won the Six-Day War — in six hours.
Israeli and U.S. historians and commentators describe the surprise attack as necessary, and the war as inevitable, the result of Nasser’s fearsome war machine that had closed the Straits of Tiran, evicted United Nations peacekeeping troops, taunted the traumatized Israeli public, and churned toward the Jewish state’s border with 100,000 troops. “The morning of 5 June 1967,” wrote Israel’s warrior-turned-historian, Chaim Herzog, “found Israel’s armed forces facing the massed Arab armies around her frontiers.” Attack or be annihilated: The choice was clear.

There is always new light after a declassification…..then most of the rest of the story can be told……will we know the whole story?  Probably not.

Another thing to remember is that during this conflict the Israelis attacked an unarmed US Navy ship, the USS Liberty, killing 34 sailors and wounding others……a crime Israel has never had to face up to because the US let them slide on the murder of American troops.

The Six Day War is not all we have been told.

Israel continues to play the “victim” card…..it is a silly concept but it works on the US and the West…….

But hey…..the history of Palestine is known in history….the history of the Israelites comes from one source of dubious authority…..but hey let’s look shall we?

The triangulation of anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and Arabophobia in the history of Palestine and Israel is part of the settler-colonial movement of Zionism and is not a “new history” in the sense of the term as introduced by Israeli historian Benny Morris in 1980 to humanize, in Israeli academic discourse, the victims of Zionism. It simply reflects modern terminology and encompasses historic events to which the Zionist mind is still largely closed.

These historic events are simple in their broad outline. Zionist Jews (self-proclaimed atheists) decided to build a Jewish state in Palestine and ended up taking much of the land by force and expelling most of the Palestinian non-Jewish Arab population, preventing them from returning.

Keep in mind that the Jews in Israel have no connection to the land of Palestine….most of their ancestry is from Eastern Europe….Palestine will always be the home of the Palestinians.

Now there is some good news for those dead sailors…the American Legion is calling for a congressional inquiry into the attack by Israel.

On June 8th 1967 the United States Navy intelligence ship the U.S.S. Liberty was attacked in international waters by aircraft and vessels belonging to Israel. Thirty-four sailors, Marines and civilians were killed in the attack. The deliberate Israeli air and sea onslaught sought to sink the clearly identified intelligence gathering ship and kill all its crew. It was in truth the worst attack ever carried out on a U.S. Naval vessel in peace time. In addition to the death toll, 171 more of the crew were wounded in the two-hour assault, which was clearly intended to destroy the intelligence gathering vessel operating in international waters collecting information on the ongoing fighting between Israel and its Arab neighbors. The Israelis, whose planes had their Star of David markings covered up so Egypt could be blamed, attacked the ship repeatedly from the air and with torpedo boats from the sea. When one Israeli pilot hesitated, refusing to attack what was clearly an American ship, he was instructed to proceed anyway.

Most Americans are completely unaware that a United States naval vessel was once deliberately targeted and nearly sunk by America’s “greatest friend and ally” Israel. The attack was followed by a comprehensive cover-up that demonstrated clearly that at least one president of the United States even back nearly fifty years ago valued his relationship with the state of Israel above his loyalty to his own country.

This is not justice for those dead but it will be a good start.

About goddamn time that America starting paying attention…..Israel needs to be held accountable for the deaths at their hands.

I would celebrate by jumping up and down but a broken foot makes that not such a wise idea….

The Nuke That Never Was

50 years ago today the Six Day War began…..all that Americans know about it is that the Israelis won…the total extent of their knowledge.

But there was so much more that happened during the course of that war…..like the Israeli attack on the US Naval vessel, USS Liberty (topic to be covered later)….and the plan to use a nuke by the Israelis if their army was not winning the conflict….

Israel has never officially admitted that it developed nuclear weapons. But in interviews recorded nearly two decades ago, a former Israeli brigadier general describes a “doomsday operation” to detonate an atomic weapon on top of a mountain near Egypt during the Arab-Israeli war. Avner Cohen, an expert on Israel’s nuclear history, tells the New York Times the plan is “the last secret of the 1967 war.” Cohen interviewed Itzhak Yaakov—a “key organizer” of the plan, code-named “Samson” after the super-strong biblical hero—multiple times in 1999 and 2000. Those interviews—and other documents related to the plan—will be made public this week on the 50th anniversary of the start of the Arab-Israeli war.

Yaakov, who died in 2013, told Cohen the plan was to detonate an atomic bomb on a mountain on the Sinai Peninsula if it looked like Israel was going to lose the war. This would either scare Egypt and other Arab forces enough to rethink things, or it would cause world powers to intervene in the conflict. Yaakov said the only way to stop an enemy who was “going to throw you to the sea” was to “scare him.” The casualties that would have resulted from the plan are unclear. The US considered a similar plan in regards to Japan during WWII before deciding to bomb the country directly. Israel’s atomic weapon was never moved to the mountain due the speed at which Israel won the war, and the plan was never carried out. Read the full story here.

Two points….Israel refuses to admit that they possess nukes to this day…..second…what would the Middle East look like if they had gone through with the plan?

Then there was the plan by the USSR to destroy Israel……..

demonstrates that this warning was deliberate disinformation, part of a plan
approved at the highest level of Soviet leadership to elicit Egyptian action
that would provoke an Israeli strike. Soviet military intervention against
the “aggressor” was intended to follow and was prepared well in advance.

USS Liberty–A Day To Remember

Congrats America….you now have your two candidates and the two people that will do whatever it takes to white wash Israeli’s war crimes.

Note:  There is a massive amount of information for the reader to digest…..but please take the time to learn about a forgotten piece of American history……and forgotten American heroes who died doing their duty to their country.

A couple of days ago was the 72 anniversary of the landing of D-Day and I was surprised that there was not more about the “Greatest Generation’s” contribution to the destruction of the Nazi war machine…..

Since few seem to care I feel that the deaths of a handful of Americans on the USS Liberty in 1967 will get even less attention from my fellow Americans…..

I dedicate this day, 08 June to the memory of those American sailors killed aboard the USS Liberty when it was attacked by the Israelis in 1967…..they are all but forgotten…..but not by ME!

How many Americans are pissed off about the Iranian capture of those American sailors a couple months ago?

How many Americans are pissed off at the attacks in Libya that killed Americans?

How many Americans are pissed off about the American sailors deaths when the USS Cole was attacked in Aden, Yemen?

And yet with all that anger over the attacks on Americans we somehow removed an attack from our memories that killed 34 American sailors…..why is that?

08 June, 49 years ago the USS Liberty was attacked and 34 Americans died and 171  were injured in a cowardly attack by the Israeli military on this day in 1967.

Every year I try to bring light to this attack….I want Americans to wake up and protest the deaths of Americans….they do so for 4 killed in Libya but the Liberty means NOTHING to them.  I find that shameful and disgusting…….I do all I can to force the world to recognize the cowardly attack and finally to make those responsible to be held accountable……

I know it is an uphill battle….but these are Americans that died in service to their country……and that country has turned their backs on them and their families……NOTHING is more disgusting and shameful…..

The deaths of Americans at the hands of cowards is NEVER acceptable in my mind and I refuse to stand by silent while the rest of my country tries so hard to forget these American veterans…….this country is always angry at this country or that, this group or that, when they have attacked and killed Americans…..and yet this incident goes mostly unnoticed and seldom mentioned….I want to correct that!

For you see…I am NOT a “Sunshine Patriot” that remembers our fallen vets once a year or try to use them for my personal goals……I have NO time for these so-called Patriots….they are nothing more than opportunists and flying a flag will change NOTHING!

I will NEVER forget…..and I definitely will NEVER forgive!

USS Liberty Incident (Revisited)

Recently I visited a local Naval Retirement Home with the hopes of interviewing some WWII vets and to get some interviews for a piece I was working on about the feelings the vets had after the war was over and if there were any problems readjusting to civilian life.  There were 4 vets at the home, two were away visiting family, 1 was in the hospital and the last did not want to talk.

My try was a bust!  I was sitting in the on property “food court” having a sandwich and coffee and trying desperately to think of another topic to write on.  About halfway through my meal a guy approached me and asked me what ship I served on.  Well, I was surprised at first and then told him I had served in the Army.  Then jokingly ask me, “what the hell is a grunt doing here?”  I smiled and told him about my idea for an article.  He thought for a few minutes, then said “that’s bullshit, boy”.  “Ever heard of the USS Liberty attack?”  I thought and thought, but could not come up with a good answer other than no, when was that?

He started his story and told me to take notes.  I did as I was told.

The gentlemen had been a bridge officer on the USS Liberty, a sigint ship.  A ship used to intercept signal intel and process it.  The date was 8 June 1967 and the ship was in international waters off the Sinai.  On 8 June the ship was flown over by Israeli recon planes and according to the officer when the crew on deck saw it was Israeli they began to wave and as the plane flew over it dipped its wings in recognition.  Next they were approached by several Mirage III jets, the French jets that only Israel flew at the time and they fired on the ship and then the ship was attacked by three Israeli gunboats with torpedoes.  The ships leadership did not fire back and the ship was flying a large American flag and has its ship’s ID clearly posted.

The gentleman told me that 34 sailors had died and that the crew received orders to not discuss the situation or the attack under threat of courts martial.  He said that the inquiry into the attack had found that it was an accident and was regrettable.  He laughed and said, “The SOBs knew exactly what they were doing and the bullshit about being missed ID as an Egyptian ship was an outright lie.”  I ask him what about the other ship.  He said the ship in question was about half the size of the Liberty and had Arabic ID, not in English.

He told me to this day he hated Israel, not because of some religious bullshit (his term) but because the assholes (his term) killed some very good friends and good sailors.  He said the sooner someone squashes the worthless fuckers (his term),  the better he will sleep.

We talked a bit more and he gave me two websites he said for me to check out and then make my decision.  He then abruptly stopped talking and said “gotta go, the ladies are waiting”.

This is an extremely interesting case–I have read as much as I could digest on this attack and I prefer to believe the sailors that experienced the hell……..

Postscript–I thought about this piece and decided to show it to the gentleman I had talked with;  when I went to talk with him I was told he had died from a stroke.  I spent most of January 07 deciding whether to publish the story or just let the whole thing go.  I decided to tell the part that I got from the aged sailor and let the reader decide for themselves.
