2010 Info Ink’s Person Of The Year

Every year we at Info Ink try to award the Assie for the most anal statement of the year and the Person of the Year……it is our way of acknowledging the accomplishments of a few during the course of the year….we try to be fair and unbiased but that is sometimes harder than others…..in the past we have awarded the credit card the honor because it symbolizes the credit crunch that began in 2008 and last year we gave it to Sen. Libermann for his running amok as an independent…this year we had a bunch to choose from….we had Joe miller of Alaska and O’Donnell of Delaware…..we had some in the financial sector and even more in the political arena and after much deliberation we came up with the following as our Person of the Year……

After much deliberation we have looked at all the nominees and we have chosen our pick for person of the year………May I have a drum roll and let the trumpets blare……send in the dancing girls………pole optional…..

Once again the Info Ink Person of the Year is not an actual person but rather a thing….and that thing is……(pause for effect)……the Tea Party Movement……

We chose the TP because……while it started off as a true grassroots movement with anger toward the Washington establishment but somewhere along the way they allowed their message to be hijacked by big money interests and they gave us some memorable candidates…Sharon Angle, Joe miller and Christine O’Donnell, to mention only a few….it also tapped into the growing anxiety of the American people over thew economic situation……it allowed special interests dictate what the issues were…..and it set the stage for an interesting Congress in 2011….

It also gave the purveyors of fear and loathing a venue for their wrapped sense of history and government…..mouths like Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, that Malkin woman, O’Reilly or the biggest wind bag (both literally and physically) Limbaugh…the Tea Party gave them the outlet and the audience to increase their subscribers and their bank accounts…..

The Tea Party chose leaders that represent the very thing that they were fighting against……and any movement that can accomplish that deserves a special recognition……

Info Ink’s Person Of The Year

Time has given the honor to Bernanke….let me see he saved the economy from a collapse that he caused….and that gives him the distinction of being a person of the year….I think he should have been awarded the A/hole of the year…..

This is the second year that Info ink has awarded this thing…last year we gave it to the Credit Card….because it symbolized the crisis that we were facing in our economy….

This year after lots and lots of deliberation we narrowed it down to ……(drum roll please)…..Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT)……….

Now I am sure you would like to know why he deserves this distinction…..alrighty then……

Lieberman has survived many tribulations in the last year…..he overcame giving a key note speech at the GOP convention…..he overcame the Dem attempts to strip him of all his Senate assignments….he has forced the Dem majority to negotiate with itself….he has single handedly given the minority more power to influence legislation…..and he may well have been the sole person to kill any health reform, for he helped stop single payer, public option, medicare buy-in and on and on…..He became a filibuster of ONE…..an accomplishment without precedents…….

All Hail the Person Of The Year….Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT)…..Joe the Bummer!

Info Ink’s 2008 Person Of The Year

Not an original idea but a take off on Time’s “Man Of The Year”.

There were many candidates for the Person of the Year.  Obama for being the first African-American to become president or Clinton as the first serious female candidate for president or Palin as the first Republican woman to be on a major ticket.  Or Madoff for stealing billions and then McCain was considered also.

The advisers and staff sat around in a tether trying to be original and not follow along the same lines as others in the past.  We talked about all sorts of things that would represent the year people, objects, etc and after a month of argument the decisions was made.

The first annual Info Ink’s “Person Of The Year” will not be a person but instead will be an object or a thing.  The object symbolizes all the troubles that the country is having economically.  It also symbolizes the people of the country which have become spoiled and pampered to the point of a economic collapse.

Drum roll please–And the WINNER IS!

THE CREDIT CARD–it stands for everything that has gone wrong.  The lack of manufacturing because the country has become a consumer nation, not a manufacturing one.  It stands for the problem of EASY CREDIT which has taken the country to the brink of disaster.  It stands for the 60% of the nation’s families that are living above their income and that are paying for their lives on credit.

So we want to say congrats to the CREDIT CARD which is just over 50 years of age and has done a 100 years worth of damage to the country.  Where would we be without it?
