It’s A FAKE!

I realize that there are many that absolutely hate Muslims……for whatever reason, my guess is 9/11 but I could be mistaken……the other day while I was surfing some sites I ran across the story of the Syria girl that was stoned to death for using Facebook…….it was a horrible story so I Googled the subject and here is what I found…..iCNNThe Daily Mail, Breitbart, Tundra Tabloids, Examiner, India Today, Global Times, Israel Hayom, Daily Bashkar, FrontPageRag and numerous other news sites and blogs reported the story.

Syria-Girl-Stoning-for-facebook-account

I received the following from a friend that I contacted to see how accurate the story had been…..

It is ironic because the still that was used to claim that Syrian rebels were stoning a woman for having a Facebook account was originally about a supposed “true-story” recounting of the stoning of “Soraya M.” in an Iranian village in the 80s.

Iran’s government castigated the movie as false and Orientalist but apparently years later their news agency has no quibbles in pushing their own Orientalist style fear-mongering that eventually played into essentialized characterizations of Islam and Muslims.

The story appears to have originally been reported in English by Iran’s Fars News Agency, which doesn’t always have the best track record for reliability. For example, it reported last month on the alien/extraterrestrial intelligence agenda driving U.S. policy, which bizarrely linked President Barack Obama, Adolf Hitler and space aliens.

Fars attributed its report on the alleged Syrian stoning incident to the Arabic-language Al-Rai Al-Youm.

The story is a HOAX and too many people will believe a lie without verifying the information….and that is the tragedy…people too willing to believe a lie to feed their hate…..truly sad.

The Secret Muslim BS

I got this little piece in a tweet the other day…..personally I think it is moronic….but no more moronic that the other side of the equation…….

There is not a whole more that needs to be said…….this may seem a bit contrite….but No more so the the crap that the extremists want you to believe……Obama has many issues that I take exception with….but the lies that are spread are just pushing the limits of the 1st amendment……but to some that is okay….can say whatever they want and the same is not allowed by the ‘opposition’………

Before someone gets all pouty…..this is NO different than the made up slogans that are all too present on the blogosphere…….if you dislike these then you should dislike ALL made up crap…..tht is too much to ask…..you see they are right and the rest of the political world is wrong…..and that sports fans is what is wrong with the system you like to call American Exceptionalism…..Stupid Fighting Stupid!

The “Talebanization” Of Mali?

Inkwell Institute

Subject:  West Africa/Sub-Saharan Africa

I recently wrote a post about the civil war that is breaking out in the African country of Mali…..it seems that is very little interests in the doings in Africa unless it is some lame bullet point in a campaign or some slow day in news…..and then something blows up and there is massive indignant outcry for why this happen with no one noticing….well I notice stuff and I try to keep my readers up-to-date on situation that could prove a bit sticky for the US….and the rest of the world…..

My previous post was about the possibility of AQ making a stand in the north of Mali…..that there was a possibility that they could find a new home to avoid the massive attacks by drones they suffer with today….and then there is the argument that Malians would possibly become a yet another country with the extremism of the Taleban in Afghanistan….is that a concern?  A real concern?

I also wanted to know the answer because of the spread of extremism in the Muslim world and in doing my research I found a good analysis written by Brian J. Peterson for AllAfrica.com……..

Mali is at the far moderate end of the spectrum of Islamic societies. Talk to Malian Muslims about Islam today, and they will likely say something about peace, tolerance and unity. Therefore, the brand of Islam being advocated by the Islamists in the north simply does not mirror what the vast majority of Malian Muslims value in their religion. In fact, most Malians are loosely affiliated with one of the major Sufi brotherhoods, such as the Tijaniyya, Hamawiyya or Qadiriyya. However, there are many Malians who simply identify themselves as “Sunni,” or ahl al-Sunna (which non-reformists label as “Wahhabi”), usually indicating that they belong to the wider reform movement. These reformists state that the only real difference between them and Sufis is that they pray with “arms crossed” and their wives wear veils. Otherwise, many of them participate in community-level Sufi rituals and celebrations. In other words, the boundaries between reformists and Sufis are not quite as rigid as outside observers might think.

There is another reason for this: Malians have a long history of resisting jihads and attempts at forced conversion. This is not to say that in the long run jihads always failed in spreading Islam. The nineteenth-century Muslim scholar and state-builder El Hajj Umar Tall left an enduring legacy in the region, despite the resistance that his wars provoked, particularly in the Bamana heartland. However, the historical and anthropological literature is replete with cases of Malians resisting the efforts of Muslim states and preachers seeking to impose Islam on them.

Malian peasants have generally refused to accept forced conversion efforts, whether by firebrand preachers or state-builders. They cite the “No Compulsion” verse from the Qur’an, as one elderly informant stated: “On the path of Allah, there is no need for forcing Islam on people. After the descent of the Quran, Allah said that there is no more compulsion in religion. This cannot be done.” Later, there were efforts by “Wahhabis” at imposing reformist ideas on rural Muslims. Once the “Wahhabis” showed their intolerance by criticizing Sufi holy men, engaging in street battles over the correct way to pray, defiling the tombs of saints, and generating “conflict” (fitna) between Muslims, they were rejected.

For these reasons, local imams and ordinary Muslims have stated that they don’t need any foreigners coming to tell them how to conduct their religious lives. Thus, when Malian Muslims hear about the violent efforts of Iyad ag-Ghali and other Salafists linked to Al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb, they see no religious legitimacy or theological rationale for their wars. They are already Muslim, so there is no justification for bringing war to Muslim communities. They see the northern jihadists as warlords aimed at pillaging Malian people and lands for personal gain, while using Islam as an ideological tool to manipulate and dominate vulnerable people.

I believe that any extremism will be met with extreme individuality by the Malians….AQ may find a foothold in West Africa but it will be to little or NO consequence….but with that said….it does warrant monitoring….nothing is for certain……especially in the Sahara.  My concern is that since the US military is now operating in Africa that someone could start a real problem that could force the US into actions that could be disastrous…..

Hopefully this week was a bit educational for my readers and gave them some thought that nothing is insignificant.  I realize that most Americans could care less about some obscure country in sub-Sahara, but keep in mind that these same people felt the same way about some obscure little country in Central Asia–Afghanistan!  And look what that got us.

Segregation Is Just Wrong!

We here in the US have had our bout with racism, sexism and segregation and we have moved past it (now here we could stop and argue if that statement is true…personally I think NOT….but that is not what this post is about…..)……..and that democracy will eliminate the abuses like segregation…..

We have all seen how women, in particular, are treated….they must segregate themselves from the men, they are treated like chattel, and have very few rights if any in the Muslim world……and we here in the US condemn this treatment of women and we almost universally state that if democracy is to flourish then this type of situation must be resolved…..

First of all…CRAP!

When it comes to the Middle East conservatives point to Israel as this shining beacon of democracy that all countries should aspire to accomplish…….here we could argue that it is NOT as democratic as its cheerleaders would have you believe…..all that democracy seems to be only for the Jews…….the Israeli Arabs would most likely give a good case for this statement being erroneous…..and that would be a discussion for another day……….

In the democratic state of Israel there seems to be a bit of a problem with the segregation of women……

Israel boasts a female opposition leader, high-profile women soldiers, and a female former prime minister. But walk the streets of Jerusalem these days and, in some areas, you’ll see gender-segregated sidewalks, buses, health clinics, and supermarkets—and few billboards or ads depicting women. The capital city has become increasingly segregated as ultra-Orthodox rabbis fight back against what they see as secularization, the AP reports. In one of several examples, the AP notes that Jerusalem debuted its long-awaited light rail with a big ad campaign this summer—one devoid of women’s faces. The growing segregation is most obvious in Jerusalem, where the ultra-Orthodox population is growing quickly (it’s expected to jump from its current 9% to 15% by 2025) and has a disproportionate amount of political power, but it’s moving into other areas as well. Even the military is considering reassigning female soldiers, as some religious men don’t want to serve alongside them. But Israel’s Supreme Court has made moves against the trend, and last month ordered that barriers intended to segregate a sidewalk during a popular religious ceremony be removed.

Of course I am sure that the cheerleaders will find some way to justify this practice…..you know….kinda like they justified it in the South in the 1950’s…..

FLASH!  There is NO justification of the practice of segregation in a democracy……either eliminate the practice or STOP calling yourself a democracy!

The Chuck Weighs In

Remember the Huck and Chuck show of the 2008  elections?  Huckabee and his ever faithful side kick Chuck Norris…..well our boy in infomercials has made a statement about sharia law….well have not most of the right wing nuts made a statement about sharia law?

Chuck Norris stands ready to defend the country, promising to deliver a roundhouse kick to “radical Islamists” who would “use the freedoms in our Constitution to expand the influence of Shariah law.”  But first he felt he had to make a statement about the first amendment…..

“First, let me categorically state that I’m not an Islamaphobe,” wrote Norris. “I welcome the plurality of religions in America and am a firm believer in the First Amendment. But just as our religious freedom is secured in the Bill of Rights, so is our freedom of speech to share even our religious concerns.”

Once he made that non-racist racist statement he went on to say……(that was kinda like the racist that says, “some of my friends are black”)…….

“In the end, it seems to me we have a choice to believe that Shariah law is, or is not, a pro-Islamic system of civic, religious, moral and social laws, which is being used to run other countries and governments but is not being (nor ever will be) invoked to run ours, based upon the belief that our constitutional republic and Bill of Rights is inferior.”

So Walker has jumped on the looney wagon with the concern that sharia law will become thew law of the land….did I miss something?  I have seen NO evidence that sharia law is ever being used in the US….of course, other than the dipsticks on the radical right that want us to believe that it is…..

My daughter and friends tell me that I should not take any of this fecal matter to heart….but you know if they were not so blatantly stupid I might ignore them….but there is a little old man sitting on his porch in Willacoochie, Mississippi that will believe that sharia law will take over and we will be in the throes of Islam by tomorrow night….IT IS A LIE….and all lies need to be challenged….and that is what I am doing challenging Walker on his assertion…..What is he really afraid of….maybe it is that NO one will remember him for anything other than an infomercial.

Sharia Law Cometh

From the VOMITORIUM

I recently wrote about the possibility that birth control pills could be illegal in Colorado if a certain ballot initiative passes on November 2…….and we have seen that the Arizona law did a lot stopping just in time before they made it illegal to be Hispanic….I am sure that there are other referendums that the voter will be asked to decide on election….but this one has me stumped…..

The newest lunatic suggestion is beyond idiotic….I realize that Americans quake in the shoes when they hear the word Muslim….but PLEASE!

From the halls of the political system in Oklahoma an initiative for the people to decide…..sate question #755…..

This measure amends the State Constitution. It changes a section that deals with the courts of this state. It would amend Article 7, Section 1. It makes courts rely on federal and state law when deciding cases. It forbids courts from considering or using international law. It forbids courts from considering or using Sharia Law.

Forbids the use of Sharia Law……is this a big problem here in the US?  Are judges making rulings based on Sharia Law instead of the Constitution?

Do any of you slow thinking people even know what Sharia Law is?  Let me help a bit……

  • Sharia Law is described as “a religious code for living, in the same way that the Bible offers a moral system for Christians.”
  • Sharia Law cites “Haram” offenses that carry punishments for those who commit them.
  • Offenses include pre-marital sex, adulter, alcohol intake, theft, robbery, etc.
  • Sharia Law has been adopted across various countries.
  • Sharia Law is intended to be applied to only Muslims.

The key for you mental midgets is the last point in the series….the Law is intended to apply to Muslims ONLY…….therefore it is virtually impossible for it to be applied to anything in the US…..Let me know if you have a problem understand that complexity….

Are these people slow or just plain stupid?  I realize that they are afraid of their own shadow when it comes to anything Muslim…..but really…..give this kind of waste of time and effort a rest…..

Is This Justice?

I have often thought that the punishment should mirror the crime….if a person sticks another hands in hot grease then that is his punishment………of if a man beats his wife then his punishment should be someone to beat him…..and…..well you get where I am coming from……so what am I getting at?  Newser is running a article about this type of thing….

An eye for an eye—a spine for a spine? A judge in Saudi Arabia has been asking hospitals whether or not they can sever the spinal cord of a man convicted of paralyzing another man in an attack with a cleaver, the AP reports. At least one hospital has refused on ethical grounds. The victim’s brother says “blood money” will not be an acceptable alternative.
Under Saudi law, victims are allowed to request that their attackers receive the same injuries they did, although the country’s leaders have been trying to clamp down on extreme punishment. A man had his teeth pulled out because he knocked somebody else’s out in a fight, and “we have also had cases of people sentenced to blindness because they have caused the blindness of another person,” an Amnesty spokesman says. “But never anything involving a spinal cord.”

I have mixed feeling about this story….but I guess in the long run I would agree with the punishment…..

Will This Help?

Pakistan agreed Monday to suspend military offensives and impose Islamic law in part of the restive northwest, making a gesture it hopes will help calm the Taliban insurgency while rejecting Washington’s call for tougher measures against militants.

A U.S. defense official called the deal “a negative development,” and some Pakistani experts expressed skepticism the truce would decrease violence. One human rights activist said the accord was “a great surrender” to militants.

Monday’s peace agreement applies to the Malakand region, which includes the former tourist destination of the Swat Valley, where extremists have gained sway by beheading people, burning girls schools and attacking security forces since a similar agreement broke down in August.

U.S. officials complained the earlier accord allowed militants to regroup and rearm and urged Pakistan’s government to concentrate on military solutions to the insurgency in the rugged frontier region, where al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden is believed to be hiding.

Amir Haider Khan Hoti, chief minister in North West Frontier Province, said troops in Swat would remain there but stop offensive operations and go on “reactive mode,” retaliating only if attacked. He stressed they would not leave the valley until the militant threat was over.

Sounds like any troops in Afghanistan may have their problems compounded by this accord.
