2012 Anal-Ocity #11

This whole contraception thingy is getting way out of control……none of these stupid deliberations is putting anyone to work…..and that should be a priority and not what I do in my bedroom…..today’s edition is from the Detroit News….one opinion writer named Nolan Finley in his piece wrote…

Since the national attention is on birth control, here’s my idea: If we want to fight poverty, reduce violent crime and bring down our embarrassing drop-out rate, we should swap contraceptives for fluoride in Michigan’s drinking water.

But please read the rest of his op-ed…….

This guy would fit well in my state of Mississippi….he would be welcomed by the bigoted masses….so if Michigan ever feels the need to throw this bigot out of the state….just tell him there is a place for him….just head South until he reaches the area of the country that is still in the 1860’s…..this guy makes my racist father look like a leftist!

To Hell With The Constitution

This post is for a loyal reader, Terrance of Sibboleth (go to blogroll and visit this interesting blog….and SOON!)..he lives in Michigan and maybe he  will have some further insight……

For decades now the sacred piece of paper, the Constitution, has been used as a political prop and has been used as a reason to oppose everything from equal rights to marriage…..and you would think that this document would mean more to Party that has used it way too often for political gain….the Republicans.

But recently a Repub governor has shown just what they really think of the Constitution……

Recently, the Benton Harbor City Council – governed under the authoritarian emergency financial manager appointed by Tea Party Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder – passed a resolution to honor the US Constitution the week of September 17.

The emergency financial manager for Benton Harbor declared, in the spring, that the Benton Harbor City Council could only do three things: call meetings to order, approve minutes and adjourn meetings. As a result, the state-appointed manager of Benton Harbor declared the city council resolution honoring the US Constitution as null and void.

As Rachel Maddow pointed out in a September 19 commentary, there is a frightening irony in “elected officials not being allowed to honor the Constitution because they’ve been overruled by an appointed overseer who nobody voted for.”

In April of 2011, BuzzFlash at Truthout wrote a commentary entitled “Tea Party Michigan Governor Rick Snyder Adopts Soviet-style Authoritarian Powers Over Michigan Cities.”

Maybe the emergency financial manager for Benton Harbor will force the Benton Harbor City Council, chosen by the voters, to follow the Politburo books of rules and orders.

The Constitution is important when they are attacking a person’s right to marry but NOT important enough to celebrate its creation….maybe now people will see just what a/holes they are and see that the Constitution means NOTHING to them if they cannot use it as a tool for political gain…..

Stalin Would Be Proud!

From the VOMITORIUM

I am weary of analogies….especially when they are erroneous…….

We all have heard the chatter and the ranting about this socialist thing or that communist person….he acts like Stalin or that he/she thinks like Marx….there seems to be much of the manufactured stories flying all around the web and especially on the blog-a-sphere…..

But there are few things happening that would make the despicable dictator like Stalin swell with pride…..one such happening is the current situation in Michigan….

Michigan’s new governor, Rick Synder has stepped into a pile of bovine fecal matter…..

Snyder recently signed a bill that gives him powers to unilaterally take over local governments by appointing “emergency financial managers” with near absolute powers to supersede decisions made by democratically elected officials.

Snyder just made Orwellian Tea Party history when his appointed “emergency financial manager” for Benton Harbor, Michigan, prohibited elected officials of that city from making any decisions or otherwise carrying out their duties.

As an outraged Michigan blogger observes:

This is a complete disenfranchisement of an entire community, an entire city in my state. The voters are now denied the ability to be governed by the people they elected in a democratic election.

This is nothing short of an abridgment of democracy in raw form.

After all the sign pumping about patriotism and democracy and government intervention….where are those crazy right wing nuts on this situation?

Sorry, but I do want to burst people’s bubble…but if you want analogy (it seems many cannot live without them) then the action by Snyder is straight out of a playbook of Stalin and his rush to control every aspect of Russian life and governance….I want these loud mouth people on the Right to call out the people in their own movement as quickly as they condemn others…..

A Sign Of The Times?

In what has been perceived as a major concession, the McCain campaign announced this week that it would be pulling its campaign resources out of Michigan in order to shift to other battleground states.

The decision came after a series of polls showed Obama with a widening lead here and the same day that 16,000 people rallied in support of Barack Obama in the supposed Republican stronghold of Grand Rapids.

Both campaigns had previously argued that few winning scenarios existed without Michigan, though this fact more likely applied to Obama’s chances for securing a victory in November.
In addition to this development, McCain is now operating under limited resources as he accepted $84 million in public financing.

Significantly, the Michigan-based media is portraying the McCain campaign as having “given up on Michigan.”

That point is more than merely sarcastic or symbolic, however. In a campaign stop in the Midwest during the Republican primary race, McCain appeared to have given up on the fight for keeping manufacturing jobs in Michigan, a key component of Michigan’s economy when he said, “Have people lost jobs? Yes, they have, and they’re gonna lose jobs.”

By contrast, the Obama campaign’s message of investment in creating jobs and in revitalizing manufacturing in Michigan has more strongly resonated, leading to more solid poll numbers for the Democrat.

What Happened On The Way To The Nomination

WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY.

The committee voted to seat Florida’s and Michigan’s delegates, though both states will have only half-votes. The move brought Obama’s delegate total to 2,052 and Clinton’s to 1,877.5 and increased the number necessary for nomination to 2,118, according to The Associated Press.

WHAT’S AHEAD.

Appeals of the committee’s decision can be made to the party’s 186-member credentials committee, which is charged with deciding which delegates should be seated at the convention. Harold Ickes, a Clinton adviser, said yesterday that she will “reserve the right” to appeal the Michigan decision. But even the credentials committee decision could be challenged if 20 percent of its members were to file a minority report. The issue then would go before the full convention in August

Of course not everyone is happy—Clintonistas are bitching and threatening the convention and to vote for mcCain because they did not get their way.  And today is the Puerto Rican Primary and Clinton is suppose to win handily.  Then on to South Dakota and Montana.  We will see what we will see.

Will Tomorrow Be The Day?

Saturday the Dems will be meeting to try and solve the problem of MI and FL delegates, to seat or not to seat that is the question.

As the primary season draws to a close, the dispute has become increasingly emotional, and Clinton supporters are planning an impassioned demonstration outside Saturday’s meeting.

At the heart of the mix are Roosevelt and co-chair Alexis Herman, two longtime Democrats little-known outside party circles, both trying mightily to keep things calm and easy as they gear up for the party machinery’s moment in the spotlight.

The 30 committee members must reach a decision on how many delegates to seat from the two states, which are being punished for having held their primaries in January, earlier than the party-set primary election schedule allowed, as well as how to allocate the delegates between the two candidates.

Clinton has been changing the goal posts for winning the nomination and the beginning of the end could come late Saturday.  That is if these guys grow some cajones and make a ruling.  Personally, I think it will go to the convention floor where it will do considerable damage to the Party and possibly assist in the Dems lose to McCain.
