Let’s Try This Stupidity Again

Back in the early days of the 2008 election a couple of guys wanted to build a new independent party (dammit!  I cannot recall what is was called)….their idea was to nominate a Dem and a Repub for a new independent ticket….it was a bomb and at best it was a political scam…..and now almost 20 years later another ‘well meaning’ billionaire has a ‘new’ idea.

Floridians aren’t getting John Morgan on the ballot—but he’s dangling six figures to rebrand their politics. The 70-year-old billionaire ended statewide speculation on Monday by announcing that he would not run for governor, reports Politico. However, Morgan does plan to launch a new state political party and will pay $100,000 to whoever comes up with its name. The contest rules will be laid out in the coming days. One that’s clear: Morgan can afford the reward: Forbes pegs his worth at $1.5 billion.

Morgan, who built the Morgan & Morgan injury law empire, has poured millions into successful ballot measures to raise Florida’s minimum wage and legalize marijuana, earning him the nickname “Pot Daddy.” The former Democrat, who is now registered as an Independent, previously flirted with gubernatorial runs in 2018 and 2024. In his Monday video, Morgan argued that “what ails us is the two-party system,” adding, “Most of us agree on most things, but if you put the D up and the R up, nothing ever gets done.”

Do not be fooled!  This is just another political scam by a billionaire that is hedging his vote in case Donny is shown the door.

Got It!  (Damn!  That took a lot of thinking on my poor brain)

This 2008 attempt was called Unit08

The political reform movement was founded as a non-profit organization by several political figures: Democrats Hamilton Jordan, Gerald Rafshoon, and Republican consultants Doug Bailey and Jim Jonas and the former two-term independent Maine Governor Angus King. Unity08 attempted to leverage online technology, such as secure voting, to allow American voters to determine the most crucial issues facing the country, discuss them with potential nominees, and participate in an online convention to nominate a bipartisan presidential ticket. In an interview that aired on The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer in May 2006, Unity08’s founders said that the group was formed in response to the polarization between the Republican and Democratic political parties. The group also cited a poll it commissioned from Princeton Survey Research and claimed that 82 percent of Americans think that the two major political parties are unable to address the country’s problems and that 73 percent of Americans are in favor of alternatives to the two parties.

The group’s status as a non-profit organization came into question when they asked the Federal Election Commission whether the group could defer registering as a political action committee until after its candidates for the 2008 presidential election were named. A draft released by the commission in July 2006 concluded that “Unity08 must register as a policy committee and therefore is subject to the reporting requirements and limitations and prohibitions.”  In October 2006, the commission voted on the matter and declared that the group must register as a political action committee.

It stated goals were….

Unity08 had four major goals:

  • Enable Americans to rank America’s most crucial issues.
  • Empower Americans to draft or evaluate Unity08 candidates and actively engage them in debate about the crucial issues.
  • Empower Americans to nominate a bipartisan Unity ticket via an online convention and secure voting process.
  • Elect the Unity08 presidential ticket to national office.

The Unity08 presidential ticket was to consist of two candidates that come from different political parties. This bipartisan team was to propose a bipartisan cabinet in an effort to end paralysis in government. Co-founder Doug Bailey explained “What we are trying to do is to create a forum for people who are in the middle who have been left out of politics.”

Here is what ‘liberal’ bloggers thought (that would be me)

Liberal bloggers also expressed frustration with Unity08 because they contend that the group promoted “establishmentcentrist or center-right politicians in the molds of Joe Lieberman and Michael Bloomberg while at the same time doing little to promote the progressive values it would seemingly represent. Chris Bowers of the political blog MyDD called the group’s supporters “rich, center-right, ‘non-partisan‘ donors who trash progressives and never criticize conservatives in power,” and claimed that the movement has no grassroots support.  Other bloggers also criticized the heavy representation of lobbyists among the organization’s officers.

It failed….why?  Lack of funds for most people saw it for what it was a political scam.

Please do not fall prey to this overt bullshit by a some billionaire to hedge his vote.

I will vote for a third party but it will not be anyone of this caliber.

Any thoughts?

Same Sh*t, Different Election

HAPPY EARTH DAY

Let’s take a break from silly Donny’s Iranian venture and talk about the quickly approaching elections, both midterms and the general in 2028….

There are many reports telling us what is happening with the politics around these elections….but sadly everything being said/ewwritten has all been so before….

First the voters attitudes…..

According to a recent study from the University of Notre Dame, voters who are comfortable living in the middle—neither agreeing nor disagreeing when asked about substantive issues relevant to upholding democracy—might be the largest group to blame for democratic decline in the United States.

These “democratic neutrals” are what the study’s co-authors consider some of the most dangerous voters in the current political environment.

Using three surveys of more than 45,000 voting-age Americans, the researchers found that about half of the U.S. population expresses an attitude of democratic neutrality—or an “unwillingness to support or oppose policies or practices that undermine democracy,” explained Matthew E.K. Hall, lead author of the study recently published in the journal Nature Human Behaviour.

“Neutrality towards democracy, rather than outright opposition, has enabled democratic backsliding among various Western democracies as elected officials leverage citizens’ neutral attitudes to pursue antidemocratic outcomes,” Hall and his two co-authors wrote in their study.

https://phys.org/news/2026-04-america-democratic-limbo-silent-middle.html

Basically it is a wait and see attitude…..and this type of thinking is what put us in the position we find ourselves today….this whole neutrality thing is total BS.

Because of this laziness we may miss the opportunity for change….

We have a leader who does nothing but expand a war department, make his friends richer and destroy what little democracy we have left.

And when we do change leadership at the top we get very little in return….the rich get richer, the masses suffer and corporations still write the laws….what part of that is change?

This coming election will be NO different without a change in attitudes from the voter……so if you are looking for a saving grace from the destruction of Donny you will be disappointed for all you will get is a new face to twist the knife in you back.

This is a little something extra for all you AI fans…..trhis basically focuses on thge 2028 election, Vance and Rubio…..

A simulation utilizing AI has delved into how the 2028 U.S. presidential election result could look, and it was far more nuanced than a simple prediction.

By feeding political trends, polling dynamics, and candidate positioning into an AI model, the YouTube channel, I Ask AI, has attempted to understand not just who might win, but why.

The simulation suggested a scenario where changing political conditions shift momentum. If Republican performance weakens and Trump’s approval declines, Rubio could emerge as the nominee: “By 2028, Trump’s approval will have dragged Vance down too far to recover. The guy standing next to Trump for four years owns every bad decision, every scandal, every economic complaint.”

Meanwhile, Rubio’s relative distance becomes an advantage: “Rubio has the crucial advantage of distance. He was doing diplomacy while the domestic mess was happening.”

Dems Want To Know What Went Wrong

THIS IS HILARIOUS!

Ready for a good laugh?

About two and half years out from the 2028 election and the Dems want to know why they lost to madman Donny in 2024.

They put together a strategy to find out what happened and how to find younger voters.  (This ought to be good)

Democrats are launching a new program Wednesday to try to reach voters in their corner who opted to stay home in 2024 instead of voting against then-candidate Donald Trump, as the party continues its search for its identity in the second Trump era.

The Democratic National Committee program — details of which were shared first with POLITICO — targets over a million voters they view as likely Democrats in battleground House districts who voted in 2020 but didn’t vote four years later.

The large-scale voter contact operation called “Local Listeners” is a tacit acknowledgement of one of the ways Democrats fell short in 2024, when then-Vice President Kamala Harris failed to engender enough enthusiasm from likely Democrats frustrated with the Biden administration’s economic agenda and its handling of the war between Israel and Hamas.

“We didn’t lose to Donald Trump. We lost to the couch,” DNC Deputy Executive Director Libby Schneider said in an interview. “We saw our voters, many of our important voters, stay home. Obviously, that is a trend that cannot continue.”

A key element of the strategy, according to the party, will be training volunteers to engage infrequent voters with a “listening first” approach that prioritizes “active listening” and “having difficult conversations about politics.”

Part of President Donald Trump’s winning strategy included engaging with unlikely voters his campaign identified as being potential Republicans. Trump aggressively courted people who had skipped previous elections, focusing predominantly on young men, and ultimately defeated Harris among voters who skipped the previous midterm and presidential elections.

First let me say getting a late start does not bode well for their next time around other than “not Donny” is their only hope.

But that said maybe I can help out just a bit…what went wrong in 2024….

Wrong candidate

More concern for donors/money then voters

Terrible platform

Focus on wrong economy

Little time spent with the actual voter

That is off the top of my head…..it went deeper than that…..but I will be interested to see what the ‘great minds’ of the DNC come up with…..how about you?

Do you think I missed anything in my summation?

Oh Great Another Billionaire Candidate

I know it is a bit early too discuss the upcoming general election in 2028 but there are some names that are being batted around like Newsom….and now the brains behind Clinton in 1992 election has come out with his chose for a candidate….

James Carville’s top pick to become the Democratic nominee in 2028 may come as a surprise: Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker. In an appearance on Raymond Arroyo’s Fox News show, the Democratic strategist said the billionaire governor has two big selling points: He’s a prodigious fundraiser, and he’s well-liked in the Black community. “If I had to say one guy—I really don’t know him, very superficially—but if I were betting the Kentucky Derby and I saw this 12-to-1 horse and I said, ‘I want to get a prize,’ I’d take JB Pritzker,” Carville said, per HuffPost.

Kamala Harris? She has “no chance,” says Carville. “No Democrat wants anything to do with anybody that had anything to do with 2024.” Carville thought Rahm Emanuel, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro can make strong runs, but none match Pritzker’s overall appeal in his view. “He’s bigger than life,” says Carville. “He’s worth $3 billion and won a million and a half dollars shooting craps and blackjack in Las Vegas. That makes people like him.” Early polling has Harris in first place, followed by Newsom, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, but Carville calls such polls “meaningless” at this point.

I would expect Carville to push a billionaire for he was instrumental in the Clinton and turning the DNC into a corporate stooge.

He is about the cash not the person.

Meaningless?  Same can be said for his push for yet another billionaire to rape the country….a precedent has been set by Donny and I bet it will carry forth no matter who gets the nod in 2028.

Will the voter be fooled by this?  My guess is they will for they are not the sharpest pencils in the box….if they are then nothing will change just a continuation of rule by the rich.

I know it is early and a lot can happen between now and November of 2028 but for now it is not looking good for the people of those country.

Any thoughts?

That Third Term

The buzz for the last few months has been this .maybe’ third term.

Since Donny walked into the WH there has been speculation and wishful thinking that he will run for an illegal third term as our prez.

Of course being the ego freak Donny has hi8mnted at the possibility but never has he out right stated that he would stand for that illegal third term.

Like I stated there have been many of his sycophants that have taken up the idea….lots of press coverage of the possibility…..but nothing as far as confirmation.

There seems to be a leaked memo about the task of making a third term possible….

Podcaster Brian Allen, who tweets using the handle @allenanalysis, shared a memo that argues for “reconsidering presidential term limits” so President Donald Trump can receive a third term, citing “unfinished business” and “continuity” as reasons why.

The memo, from the Third Term Project, is for a Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) event that was held on February 20, 2025, just one month after Trump took office again.

The memo mentions a discussion of a measure proposed by Representative Andy Ogles of Tennessee to introduce a constitutional amendment to allow presidents to run for a third term, something that is currently prohibited by the Constitution.

It cites “unfinished business,” namely “the need for more time to complete President Trump’s agenda,” as well as “national stability and growth,” “the will of the people,” and “building the next generation” as key topics.

https://www.comicsands.com/trump-third-term-project

I have stated that Donny has teased the possibility but never confirmed that he would be interested….. he must keep the rhetoric going…..

President Donald Trump is still talking about trying to seek a third term in 2028, despite that being blatantly unconstitutional.

After Trump ally Steve Bannon suggested last week that some kind of plan was in place for the president to run again, Trump overnight downplayed the idea of running as vice president but otherwise left his options open.

“I would love to do it. I have the best numbers ever,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One when asked about the possibility, while falsely claiming his poll numbers are at a high point. Pressed further, Trump said: “Am I not ruling it out? You’ll have to tell me.”

So what to make of his latest noncommittal comments about this matter?

It would be foolish to completely dismiss it.

This is a president, after all, who has shown increasingly little regard for the legal barriers in front of him. This is also a president who, less than five years ago, attempted to overturn an election based on lies about voter fraud. Plenty back then dismissed it as unthinkable that Trump would go to such lengths to stay in office. (Remember Mick Mulvaney’s op-ed?) And there are plenty of examples of Trump doing things that people wagered were just trolling.

https://www.cnn.com/2025/10/27/politics/president-trump-third-term-2028

We know that his ego wants that third term worse than he wants to bury Epstein…..but how will he do it  (if he decides that is his desire)?

Aboard Air Force One flying to Japan on Monday, Donald Trump found himself making news for many of the wrong reasons.

Facing a raft of imprecise questions from reporters about his aspirations to serve a third term in the White House, the President indicated his possible plans to flout the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution that restricts any president to two full terms in office.

I would love to do it, I have my best numbers ever,” the US President told reporters. His comments immediately fuelled headlines suggesting that he is open to riding roughshod over the strictures of the constitution in an effort to retain his firm grip on the levers of power in Washington.

Asked whether he was failing to rule out another election bid, he demurred. “Am I not ruling it out? You’ll have to tell me,” he said coyly.

Trump’s remarks came 48 hours after The Economist published an interview with his on-again, off–political adviser, Steve Bannon, a self-confessed fraudster who pleaded guilty in February to duping Americans who donated money thinking that they were funding the construction of a wall along the country’s border with Mexico. With a glint in his eye, Bannon gleefully assured the newspaper there is no doubt that Trump will remain in office beyond January 2029.

“He’s going to get a third term. And people ought to just get accommodated to that,” Bannon insisted. Asked how the President could possibly expect to overcome the 22nd Amendment, Bannon said: “There’s many different alternatives. At the appropriate time we will lay out what the plan is, but there is a plan, and President Trump will be the president in ‘28.” For good measure, he called Trump “a vehicle of divine providence”, and suggested it is God’s will for him to remain in office.

Trump wants a third term as president. Here’s how he could actually get it

There is some sort of strategy behind is non-committal answers and desires….

President Trump continued to muse about the possibility of a third term this week, and nobody can quite figure out how serious he is. Sure, he may just be trolling his political enemies, but “it would be foolish to completely dismiss it,” writes Aaron Blake in a CNN analysis. A few takes on the political calculus:

  • His gain: One thing that is clear: Trump “sees great political benefit” in talking about another run, regardless of the 22nd Amendment, writes Jess Bidgood in the On Politics newsletter of the New York Times. In her view, the president is keeping the idea alive because it keeps “him from being seen as the most ineffectual of Washington stereotypes, a lame duck.”
  • His gain, II: Blake makes the same point in his analysis. Talking about the idea “helps him stave off something that is looming increasingly large: lame-duck status.” Blake argues that this is more important in Trump’s case than with typical presidents because he loves to make his enemies pay. If people know he’s leaving, they can just wait him out. “So what Trump and allies like (Steve) Bannon are effectively doing is planting a seed in people’s minds that says: What if you don’t actually know he’ll be gone come January 2029?”
  • Been a while: Trump has been talking about this for quite some time. Back in February, Maggie Haberman made this point in her own New York Times analysis: “Even when Mr. Trump presents something as a joke, the idea he suggests often becomes socialized by his supporters, both those in office and in the right-wing media. The concept then often takes on more weight, including for Mr. Trump.”
  • Backfire? At New York magazine, Ed Kilgore sees the potential of this backfiring in a big way, at least for Republicans. The longer Trump keeps the idea in play, the more his supporters will yearn for it—thus creating a “Trump Third Term Bubble,” he writes. “When it inevitably bursts (as it will unless Trump seriously considers a military coup and an actual, undisguised fascist dictatorship), MAGA folk will be very disappointed and may be less than enthused about being offered the booby prize of J.D. Vance.”

All this is some elaborate game that Uncle Donny enjoys playing….we know he wants that third term but has to keep the speculations coming.

I will not speculate…..you may if you so choose.

“Probably Not”

That was the answer Donny gave when asked if he would run again….it is sweet music to the ear and mind but is probably all BS.

President Trump didn’t rule out running for a third term in a wide-ranging interview with CNBC‘s Squawk Box on Tuesday. He boasted that he had received the “highest vote in the history of Texas, a record that they say won’t be beaten unless I run again,” prompting the question, “Are you going to run again?” He replied “Probably not,” adding, with a laugh, “Probably not, I’d like to.” Trump has repeatedly mentioned the possibility of running for a third term since he started his second term in January, though doing so would require a constitutional amendment supported by two-thirds of the House and Senate and ratified by three-quarters of the states, USA Today reports.

“I’d like to run. I have the best poll numbers I’ve ever had,” Trump said. “You know why? Because people love the tariffs.” Squawk Box‘s Joe Kernen pushed back against Trump’s poll numbers claim, saying, “Overall poll numbers, you don’t have the best you ever had in overall poll numbers.” Trump replied that he was at 71% overall and “94% and 95%” among Republicans. When Kernan countered that some polls had his approval rating down in the 30s, Trump said, “But they’re fake polls, Joe, I had a lot of fake polls.” It’s not clear where Trump got the 71% number, Mediaite reports. Even the pollsters friendliest to Trump haven’t put him above 50% recently. The RealClearPolitics poll tracker puts Trump’s approval rating at average of 45.9%.

He has the ‘best poll numbers he ever has”?

What a delusional POS.

But let’s say he holds true to the lie and does not run again….that would open the door for that massive gasbag Vance…..then the question will be asked who (for now) would be his opponent?

So, what are the results? Well, the Emerson College June poll suggests that Vice President JD Vance is currently the leading contender to succeed President Trump as the Republican nominee in the 2028 presidential election.

Vance is currently backed by 46% of Republican voters — leaving other high-profile names like Marco Rubio at 12% and Ron DeSantis at 9% trailing far behind.

And July’s national poll – conducted by Emerson College between July 21 and 22 – surveyed 1,400 registered voters, and pitted Vance against three possible Democratic candidates: former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).

In a hypothetical matchup with Buttigieg, Vance holds a narrow edge with 44% of support to Buttigieg’s 43%, while 13% of voters remain undecided.

Against Ocasio-Cortez, Vance leads 44% to 41%, with 15% undecided. The widest gap emerges in a potential race against Newsom, with Vance garnering 45% of the vote to Newsom’s 42%, and 13% still undecided.

“A key takeaway from the ballot tests is that about 13% of the electorate remains persuadable, while the other 87% have already settled on a party preference,” Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said.

(vt.co)

87% have already made up their minds on their choices…..that should freak you out because we are 3+ years away from the election in question and already people have decided….I know it is early and things can change on the ground…..but to already have made up your mind this early illustrates to me just how lazy and uninformed the public must be.

Do I have a choice at this early stage?  No I do not….I am not really impressed with anyone mentioned.

How about you?
