M4A stands for the progressive’s idea from several years ago…..Medicare For All….
I as can be expected wrote about it and here is my reminder for you guys….first from 2019….
Then in 2021….
You might come to the correct conclusion that I support M4A…..and now the new progressives are bringing this up again…
Simply put….M4A is health care for everyone not just those that can afford it….
A Single Health Program
Everyone will be covered by one health insurance program, administered by the federal government, and have equal access to all medical services and treatments.
Comprehensive Coverage
All services requiring a medical professional will be fully covered. You go to the doctor of your choice. Dental, vision, mental health, and pharmaceuticals are all included.
Free at the point of service
All healthcare costs will be financed through tax contributions based on ability to pay: no copays, no fees, no deductibles and no premiums. Ever.
Universal Coverage
Coverage for all United States residents — non-citizens included.
Jobs
A jobs initiative and severance for those affected by the transition to government-run healthcare.
WE need to keep electing progressives…..we need to squash the centrists for all they are doing is helping the destruction of the family….

I just discovered what the DSA meant by “Medicare for All.” I really think it needs a different name, because it even turned me off at first. I wouldn’t wish Medicare on anyone. Medicaid is a different story. The DSA’s program sounds more like that to me.
I am on Medicare and it has done a good job with my cancer treatments….chuq

I am on Medicare too, and it works sufficiently well. Although, universal health care would be better.

Progressives are the only ones who might introduce a proper healthcare system in your country. But so many policitians of both parties are already bought and paid for by Big Pharma.

Ah, how quickly we forget….
It was called the Comprehensive Health Insurance Plan. It required all employers to provide health insurance for all full time employees, would have created a single government funded health insurance program to cover the unemployed, poor and elderly to replace Medicare/Medicaid, would have requires health insurance companies to cover everyone who applied, despite any pre-existing conditions, etc. And it was the brain child of then president Nixon and senator Javits. Yes, it was the Republicans who were pushing this. They attempted to pass it in 1971 and again in 1974 and it was the Democrats, along with pressure from labor unions and the American Medical Association that killed the idea. Yes, my friends, the “evil” Obamacare idea that is so soundly thrashed by the Republicans is a plan they thought up themselves just a few decades earlier.
True that…..and the ACA was basically written by the industry…..it had no chance of making a difference, a major difference. chuq
You’re right, of course. The ACA was one of the worst “compromises” ever made in order to get at least marginal support.
What’s really killed universal health care in this country isn’t any political party, it’s what I call the medical industrial complex. Various attempts at providing universal health care fo the citizens of the country have been attempted since at least the late 19th century and every time organizations like the AMA, hospital associations, insurance companies, etc. have done everything they can to kill it off because it threatened their profits. The end result is that we have now, a system that isn’t intended to care for our health, but which is designed from the ground up to suck as much money out of the pockets of the citizens as possible. The term “socialized medicine” was, I believe, coined by the AMA in an attempt to link the idea of universal health care with communism.

Personally, I have reservations about a health plan that, essentially, doesn’t cost a person anything. Yes, I realize it’s tax-supported … but what does that really mean? The healthy ones are paying for the sick ones? I dunno’ how I feel about that. I admit I’m not all that familiar with the whole idea, but from a surface POV … hmmm.
If everyone pays into the fund and I mean everyone then it is a good and sustainable plan. chuq
