Dems Are A Spineless Bunch

It is no secret that I have not been a fan of Dems for a very long time….I think they are cowards, spineless and worthless and to make my point I offer up two votes recently….

First the military budget vote….

Despite months of warnings from party members up and down the caucus that President Donald Trump has been “lawless,” “destructive, and ”authoritarian“ in his wielding of power both domestically and abroad, 149 Democratic members of the US House of Representatives on Thursday night joined with 192 Republicans to pass a sweeping military spending bill—a vote that progressive critics say exposes the fecklessness and hypocrisy of what claims to be an opposition party.

The 341-88 passage of the $828.7 billion fiscal 2026 military spending bill came over the objections of progressives who warned that the bill—now headed to the US Senate for final passage as soon as next week—is a tacit endorsement of the president’s policies, even as he has ordered federal agents to terrorize US cities, deployed US soldiers on domestic soil in the face of lawful protests, threatened to annex Greenland and other nations by force, and conducted overseas military operations—including overt acts of war over the last year against both Iran and Venezuela—without congressional notification, authorization, or oversight.

https://www.commondreams.org/news/democrats-military-spending-bill

Second the vote for funding ICE and DHS….

Seven Democrats in the US House of Representatives voted with nearly all Republicans on Thursday to pass a Department of Homeland Security funding bill despite growing calls from across the country for Congress to rein in the Trump administration’s deadly immigration operations, which are led by DHS agents.

Democratic Reps. Henry Cuellar (Texas), Don Davis (NC), Laura Gillen (NY), Jared Golden (Maine), Vicente Gonzalez (Texas), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Wash.), and Tom Suozzi (NY) joined all Republicans but Rep. Thomas Massie (KY) for the 220-207 vote that sent the legislation to the Senate—where the GOP also has a majority, but it’s so narrow that most bills need some Democratic support to pass.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) notably refused to pressure members of his caucus to oppose the bill, even though voters clearly oppose federal operations featuring violence and lawlessness by agents with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) everywhere from California and Illinois, to Minnesota and Maine.

Jeffries and other Democratic leaders have faced growing public pressure to use a rapidly approaching deadline—if Congress doesn’t pass legislation by January 30, the federal government shuts down again—to freeze ICE funding. The bill that advanced out of the House on Thursday would give ICE $10 billion and CBP $18.3 billion.

https://www.commondreams.org/news/trump-administration-ice-funding

Jeffries is as useless as teats on a boar.

Can you now see why I have no use for Dems?

Time for a change in Dem leadership for they are as corruptible as any GOPer.

Dems have an opportunity for success but will they embrace change?

You can see how Democrats got the wrong idea. When President Trump was sworn into his second term one year ago, it was not unreasonable for the opposition to feel somewhat cowed. Though his victory was narrow, Trump won the popular vote and made significant enough inroads into traditional Democratic constituencies—young people, people of color, working-class people—that his grandiose claims of a political realignment were arguably credible. That wasn’t an excuse to roll over—standing up to the regime was essential. But there was an argument for Democrats to be careful about picking their spots.

Instead, inexplicably, the leaders of the Democratic Party are still refusing to give up the fearful crouch they adopted immediately after the 2024 election. The most egregious recent example is their failure to organize serious opposition to funding for the Department of Homeland Security. The split screen we’ve been seeing on this in recent days is outrageous. ICE officers are kidnapping half-naked grandpas in the freezing cold; they’re denying legal counsel to detainees; they’re entering homes without warrants; they’re using chemical weapons against high school students; they’re sending babies to the hospital; they’re detaining 5-year-old children. They are violently occupying American cities, acting like the gestapo that Trump seems to want them to be.

The Dems are being warned to change their mindset or face more losses….

Democrats may be riding high now, but one of their top strategists says the party is on track to crash in 2028 unless it overhauls itself fast. In a New York Times op-ed, David Plouffe—who helped run three recent Democratic presidential campaigns, including Kamala Harris’ 2024 bid—argues that despite strong showings against President Trump and MAGA-aligned candidates, Democrats have “no credible path” to long-term control of the White House and Senate. Plouffe warns that Electoral College shifts after the next census could make the map even harsher: A Democrat could win every state Harris took, plus Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, and still miss 270 electoral votes, he writes. That matters, he says, because sustained power is needed to shape the Supreme Court, which could otherwise drift toward an 8-1 conservative majority over the next decade.

The party’s task, in his telling: Stop coasting on Trump’s unpopularity and rebuild a brand that can win “in politically unforgiving, even hostile, territory.” His prescription is blunt and policy-heavy. Step one: Tie Trump and congressional Republicans to everyday frustrations—prices, wars, economic turbulence—and make them “own everything.” Step two, which he calls harder: Confront how Democrats are perceived and offer a sharply focused agenda that voters see as immediately useful, not ideological. That means simple, easily communicated plans to cut living costs, from housing to child care to home health costs; aggressively build the workforce with needed jobs ( such as nurses, teachers, mechanics, plumbers); and regulate AI before it accelerates job loss, misinformation, and higher energy use.

Plouffe even envisions campaign ads that accuse Republicans of siding with “AI greed” and billionaire tech interests. He also urges Democrats to stop acting like guardians of a distrusted system. He calls for an anti-corruption push—term limits, lifetime lobbying bans, trading restrictions for lawmakers, even reconsidering presidential pardons—and for candidates to openly challenge their own party’s leadership, programs, and red tape. Voters, he argues, want reformers who will “blow the whistle” on broken policies and prove they can spend new tax revenue effectively. Both parties, in his view, are in deep holes. The difference, he says, is that MAGA is stuck as long as Trump dominates it. Democrats, he concludes, have a brief window to move while their opponent can’t. More here.

To me right now they appear they will do what they always do….wimp out!

The big question is will the Dems see the light and go for it or will they hang back looking for more cash from the lobbyists that run the party?

Right now all we have from the Dems is lip service their actions are not at all encouraging.

I say screw them all and primary these twats make them take a stance….if their spines will allow it.

Last Week At The Sh*t Show–25Jan26

I wish I could say we had an uneventful week but Donny and his minions cannot let a week go by without some sort of BS….

I read last week the we know Donny has changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America but his original plan was to name it the Gulf of Trump…..I do not know how accurate this report is but it does make sense.

As usual Donny and the conservatives are blaming Biden for the mash-up in Minneapolis…

President Donald Trump joined his favorite cable news channel in blaming President Joe Biden for the fatal shooting of Minneapolis mother Renee Good by ICE agent Jonathan Ross.

Trump quoted Fox & Friends in a Sunday, January 18, Truth Social post, writing: “It’s important to know how we got here. The reckless Open Borders Policy of Joe Biden led to the violent criminals that have gone into places like Minneapolis, which has forced ICE to go in and clean them up.”

https://knewz.com/donald-trump-fox-blaming-ice-shooting-joe-biden/

About the only thing Biden has not been accuse of is the crucifixion.

About the most disgusting yet telling statement that this idiot you elected came last week…..

President Trump, who has a lengthy résumé of authoritarian tendencies, thinks that sometimes “you need a dictator.”

“Usually they say, ‘He’s a horrible dictator-type person,’ I’m a dictator,” Trump continued. “But sometimes you need a dictator! But they didn’t say that in this case.… It’s all based on common sense, it’s not conservative or liberal, or anything else.”

Donny has been going around thumping his chest about ending 8 wars since taking office….what is the truth?

According to recent remarks by the 79-year-old Republican leader, the number currently stands at a whopping eight conflicts he claims to have brought to a close.

In a new letter sent to Norway’s leader, Jonas Gahr Støre, amid his ongoing efforts to controversially ‘take’ Greenland, Trump doubled down on the statistic.

But how much of Trump’s whole ‘eight wars’ claim is actually legitimate? Let’s take a look.

https://www.tyla.com/news/politics/donald-trump-ended-eight-wars-claim-explained-546021-20260119

If Donny and his minions lose the ne4xt election some say could invoke violence…..

One religious scholar is warning that the 2026 midterm elections could prompt a violent response from far-right evangelical Christians.

During a Monday interview with Zeteo host John Harwood, Public Religion Research Institute founder and president Robert P. Jones – who holds an M. Div from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from Emory University — spoke about how President Donald Trump’s MAGA movement has captured a vast bulk of Christian evangelicals. Harwood asked Jones whether MAGA Christians were excusing Trump’s “brutality and cruel behavior” due to innate racism, or if they were simply people fearing becoming a demographic minority and overwhelmed by the “loss of life they were accustomed to.”

“Do you feel sorry for the people who are embracing what the Trump administration is doing because they’re scared or what?” Harwood asked.

“Well, I should just say I am those people. These are my people. Like I said, I grew up in the deep, deep South,” Jones said. “… This is deep for me, and personal. It’s a big mix of emotions … I feel some anger about it, for sure. But I also feel some compassion, mostly because I feel like what has happened is they have let their own fears take control of their lives, and they let it snuff out the primary vision of Christianity, which is supposed to be about love.”

I see one of Donny’s supporters the grease ball Kid Rock showed his stupidity, as usual….

Kid Rock, whose real name is Bob Ritchie, has never been afraid to speak his mind, and he’s never really cared who he offended. From the hosts of The View to Bruce Springsteen, Kid Rock has never shied away from throwing jabs at his critics. People either love him or hate him for his outspokenness, which may explain why this blunt clip from May 2025 is going viral yet again on social media.

The rocker has admitted that he’s “uncancellable” and doesn’t care what people think, and in the clip from last year, Rock has a decidedly-not politically correct explanation for the low birth rate in America.

The comments came during an appearance on Fox News with host Jesse Watters, when Kid Rock was asked whether he ever has anyone with blue hair and armpit hair come out to his shows:

“We have this low birth rate in America and it all made sense to me. It just hit me right now, because who’s going to sleep with these ugly-a**, broke, crazy, deranged, TDS liberal women? I mean, you look at these rallies, it’s like a bunch of women that no guy wants to sleep with and a bunch of dudes that want to sleep with each other.”

Kid Rock Goes Viral With Explanation For America’s Low Birth Rate: “Ugly, Broke, Crazy Liberal Women”

What can we expect from a piece of shit like Kid Rock?

Late breaking news:

Donald Trump suggested putting the world’s strongest military alliance “to the test” in his latest social media posting that could have grave consequences.

The U.S. President has long criticized the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), which also includes 30 European allies and Canada, over his belief that other members don’t pay their fair share.

“Maybe we should have put NATO to the test: Invoked Article 5, and forced NATO to come here and protect our Southern Border from further Invasions of Illegal Immigrants, thus freeing up large numbers of Border Patrol Agents for other tasks,” Trump posted on Truth Social Thursday night.

https://time.com/7357315/trump-nato-article-5-test-truth-social-post-us-border/

I guess that would free up more resources to terrorize the citizens….he’s a moron!

To close a little something extra….a collection of Donny’s most lame ass statements….a few you may have forgotten he uttered in his delusional state….

It’s been a whole year since he took office for the second time. So, naturally, we’ve rounded up the 34 stupidest things Donald Trump has ever said… subjectively, of course.

IST Saturday News Dump–24Jan26

Another Saturday and another news dump for your reading pleasure.

Local–Next week they say will be the coldest weather we have had this winter….but it will not be as bad as others will suffer.

Personal–Biopsy went well….went in at 0700 and was finally released at 1345….will know the results next week I am told.

Let’s begin today with what we eat…..

Maggots may not be winning any popularity contests, but they’re quietly becoming a contender to become the world’s next big protein source—first for pets and livestock, and eventually, perhaps, for humans. In Kenya, InsectiPro is raising black soldier fly larvae by the tens of millions on piles of rotting mangoes and other crop waste, per Smithsonian. The larvae gorge for about two weeks in their transformation into grubs, then are processed into a high-protein, high-fat meal that’s used in animal feed. Each day, they turn 16.5 tons of waste into biomass, growing with startling speed and requiring much less land, water, and energy than it takes to produce corn or soy.

Their leftover waste, known as frass, can also be used as fertilizer. Globally, money is following the maggots: More than half of the roughly $2 billion invested in insect farming has gone to black soldier fly operations. France-based Innovafeed—which the Washington Post notes houses hundreds of millions of flies—runs a massive, highly automated larvae factory and has partnered with agribusiness giants ADM and Cargill. In Illinois, a pipe carries wet corn-processing by-product directly from an ADM plant into Innovafeed’s facility, where the larvae devour it. In turn, ADM buys the resulting insect meal for use in pet food, a neat loop that avoids the costs of drying or transporting the waste elsewhere.

Studies suggest that when larvae meal replaces part of conventional feed, hens shed fewer harmful bacteria, piglets have fewer digestive problems, and dogs get solid marks on everything from stool quality to breath. For now, however, the main hurdle isn’t biology but psychology. Americans are wary of eating insects or even feeding them to their pets, so companies are experimenting with friendlier branding—Innovafeed markets its ingredient under the innocuous-sounding name “Hilucia”—and focusing first on pet food. Human products, like protein bars and shakes made with insect meal, are on the drawing board but not yet on shelves at scale. In Democratic Republic of Congo, meanwhile, maggots and hairy caterpillars are already in demand.

I hope it does not come to this until I am gone.

Do you store bread in the freezer?

Bread may be a simple kitchen staple, but did you know that how you store it can actually impact its health benefits?

Maybe you store yours at room temperature in the pantry or toss it into the refrigerator (we beg you to stop doing that, because it only dries it out).

But if you store your bread in the freezer, you may be getting some additional benefits besides long-lasting storage — because freezing bread can also give a meaningful boost to your gut health, blood sugar and digestion, thanks to a natural change in the starches through a process called retrogradation, which forms resistant starch.

Starch is a type of carbohydrate found in foods like bread, potatoes and grains, and it absorbs moisture and gelatinizes when cooked with water. At a molecular level, starch is made up of two glucose polymers: amylose and amylopectin. In bread, for instance, registered dietitian Avery Zenker explains that the heat of baking disrupts the hydrogen bonds that normally keep starch molecules tightly packed in a crystalline structure, allowing amylose and amylopectin to become easier for digestive enzymes to access.

No time for lunch….then this may be your answer….

Soup fans who like their broth in unconventional formats have another chance to suck on it instead of sip it. Progresso is bringing back its oddball Soup Drops hard candies and adding two new varieties, the company said in a press release. Joining the returning Chicken Noodle flavor are Tomato Basil and Beef Pot Roast, with packaging that promises the candy “warms in your mouth,” per USA Today. The original line, described in marketing as “soup you can suck on,” debuted in January of last year and sold out in less than an hour, according to earlier reporting.

The latest Soup Drops will be sold as part of a bundle available exclusively on Walmart’s website. Each bundle includes a can of Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup, plus a Soup Drops variety pack containing all three flavors, for $2.97—roughly the cost of a single can of soup. The soups will be restocked weekly, while supplies last. More details, including information on the variety cans, are posted at ProgressoSoupDrops.com.

I do not partake in social media….no Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc….none at all and some times people look at me funny when I tell them that….but ….

I still remember when my neighbor Bob got his first smartphone a few years back. Within weeks, he was showing me dozens of photos on Instagram, asking if I thought each one was good enough to post. The man was a chess champion, for crying out loud, but suddenly he needed strangers on the internet to validate his morning coffee.

I’ve never been much for posting my own life online. Sure, I scroll through Facebook now and then to see what my grandchildren are up to, but sharing my own updates? That’s never felt necessary to me. And according to psychology research, there might be something to that instinct.

Turns out, people who choose not to broadcast their lives on social media often display some pretty remarkable qualities. Not because they’re trying to be different, but because they’ve developed a particular kind of confidence that doesn’t rely on external feedback.

Let me walk you through what the research says.

Psychology says if you never post photos or updates about yourself on social media you display these 9 confident qualities

Blogging is as close as I get to sharing….

Then there is your mobile phone……some worry about brain cancer and other such things but the one thing they should be worried about is who is looking at your data….

Immigration officials now have access to a tool that can map the movements of phones across whole neighborhoods, raising new alarms among privacy advocates. Documents obtained by 404 Media show that Immigration and Customs Enforcement has purchased access to two products from Penlink called Webloc and Tangles. Webloc lets users draw shapes on a digital map—ie, workplaces, protest sites—and pull up all the phones there during a chosen time window, then trace those devices to other sites, like homes and workplaces. An internal ICE memo says agents can query this commercial data sans warrant. “This is probably unconstitutional,” says Don Bell of the Constitution Project at the Project on Government Oversight, per the Independent. The data comes from the murky location-data market, with info harvested from ordinary apps, then sold by brokers, per 404.

Once a device is flagged by Webloc, the system can reconstruct its travel history locally and nationwide, cross-matching phones that show up at multiple sites. Tangles, meanwhile, lets users monitor social media, detect faces in images, run “sentiment analysis” on posts, and maintain watch lists. Civil liberties groups say ICE is exploiting a legal gray zone to sidestep the Supreme Court’s Carpenter vs. US decision, which requires warrants for historical location data from telecoms. The agency argues people have “voluntarily” shared data with third parties by using apps, undermining any expectation of privacy under the Fourth Amendment. The ACLU says that reasoning is “self-serving,” warning the system enables pervasive tracking “at an agent’s mere whim,” with immigrant and minority communities likely to bear the brunt; anti-ICE protesters will also be targets, per the Brennan Center.

Sen. Ron Wyden, a critic of the location-data sector, says the program gives “Trump’s shock troops” a powerful tool against people “who have done nothing wrong” and contends it violates federal law unless users clearly consent to government sales—something he says isn’t happening, per 404. ICE has spent more than $2.3 million on Penlink licenses since September, even after a 2023 inspector general report found ICE, Customs and Border Protection, and the Secret Service broke rules using similar commercial-location datasets and lacked adequate safeguards. In a statement, Penlink said its tools use only public or commercially available data, are meant to “advance criminal investigations and save lives,” and are governed by “strict compliance” and “responsible-use standards.”

I know some cannot live without constant use of their phone…..so be aware and be careful.

Finally have you ever noticed that the older we get the faster time seems to pass?  There may be a reason.

Have you ever looked back and felt like the years just vanished overnight? You’re not the only one. Many of us notice that as we age, our perception of time changes.

Days and years seem to speed by, leaving us wondering how this happened. Is it just our busy lives, or is there something deeper happening in our brains?

Scientists are diving into this age-old mystery to uncover why time feels like it’s racing against us.

From changes in how our minds process information to the routines that shape our daily lives, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes.

Adrian Bejan, a researcher at Duke University with decades of experience, offers a fascinating perspective on this phenomenon.

He suggests that our perception of time changes due to physical alterations in our brains and bodies as we age.

But let’s unpack this idea step by step. Why do some days feel longer or shorter than others? And why does time seem to fly by as we get older?

New Power For ICE?

America has its band of legal thugs called ICE….they can do whatever they want with no oversight…..they can detain citizens, jail citizens, arrest protesters, all in all just intimidate the citizenry….and now there is a new power the Gestapo has in its hands….

Federal immigration officers are asserting sweeping power to forcibly enter people’s homes without a judge’s warrant, according to an internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement memo obtained by the AP, marking a sharp reversal of longstanding guidance meant to respect constitutional limits on government searches. The memo authorizes ICE officers to use force to enter a residence based solely on a more narrow administrative warrant to arrest someone with a final order of removal, a move that advocates say collides with Fourth Amendment protections and upends years of advice given to immigrant communities. The shift comes as the Trump administration dramatically expands immigration arrests nationwide, deploying thousands of officers under a mass deportation campaign that is already reshaping enforcement tactics in cities such as Minneapolis.

For years, immigrant advocates, legal aid groups, and local governments have urged people not to open their doors to immigration agents unless they are shown a warrant signed by a judge. That guidance is rooted in Supreme Court rulings that generally prohibit law enforcement from entering a home without judicial approval. The ICE directive directly undercuts that advice at a time when arrests are accelerating under the administration’s immigration crackdown. The memo itself has not been widely shared within the agency, according to a whistleblower complaint, but its contents have been used to train new ICE officers who are being deployed into cities and towns to implement the president’s immigration crackdown. New ICE hires and those still in training are being told to follow the memo’s guidance instead of written training materials that actually contradict the memo, according to the whistleblower disclosure.

It is unclear how broadly the directive has been applied in immigration enforcement operations. The AP witnessed ICE officers ramming through the front door of the home of a Liberian man, Garrison Gibson, with a deportation order from 2023 in Minneapolis on Jan. 11, wearing heavy tactical gear and with their rifles drawn. Documents reviewed by the AP revealed that the agents only had an administrative warrant—meaning there was no judge who authorized the raid on private property. Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said in an e-mailed statement to the AP that everyone the department serves with an administrative warrant has already had “full due process and a final order of removal.”

(Click for the AP’s full story.)

How much longer will Americans tolerate these actions by a pack of cowardly goons that hide their identities and show no concern for the Constitution.

Any American that condones these tactics and violations is no more American that my Hyundai auto.

Time to flood the streets of Minneapolis with people…..true American patriots not the bozos that worship the Orange dickhead.

Thomas Paine–Working Class Hero

Since it is the 250th anniversary if the US I have set about re-acquainting the American people with the original Founding Father with a series dedicated to Thomas Paine.

I am always amazed to see any Right winger use Paine as some sort of icon for their beliefs….it is humorous for if they knew anything about Paine they would realize that he stood for damn near everything they hold dear.

The only thing Paine liked less than monarchical rule was its enablers, anyone who relinquished their freedom willingly to an aspiring tyrant.

This is not only wrong, Paine insists, but against nature, since all of us are created equal.

But even that’s not the worst part. Those who sacrifice their own freedom on the altar of monarchy also sacrifice that of future generations. Their “unwise, unjust, unnatural compact might (perhaps) in the next succession put them under the government of a rogue or a fool.” Ouch.

“Most wise men,” Paine adds, “in their private sentiments, have ever treated hereditary right with contempt; yet it is one of those evils, which when once established is not easily removed; many submit from fear, others from superstition, and the more powerful part shares with the king the plunder of the rest.”

https://theconversation.com/in-1776-thomas-paine-made-the-best-case-for-fighting-kings-and-for-being-skeptical-266448

It was Paine that chided Americans to throw off the yoke of Britain….

“In ‘Common Sense,’ Thomas Paine defines common sense as the fundamental ability of all people to reason and discern truth, regardless of social standing or education. He argues that this innate capacity, when applied to political matters, reveals the absurdity of hereditary monarchy and the necessity of self-governance based on the consent of the governed. Paine’s ‘Common Sense’ is a call to action, urging colonists to reject British rule and embrace republicanism, a system of government where power resides in the people.”  (To discern the truth….something Americans have lost)

What was Paine’s specific vision for human society? Long after the successful defeat of British colonialism in “the colonies, he wrote this passage in Rights of Man, Part the Second”: “When it shall be said in any country in the world that my poor are happy, neither ignorance nor distress is to be found among them; my jails are empty of prisoners, my streets of beggars, the aged are not in want; the taxes are not oppressive; the rational world is my friend, because I am the friend of its happiness—when these things can be said, then may that country boast its constitution and its government.”

“Anyone needing to be reminded of core Enlightenment beliefs—that government can only be empowered by its citizens; that such citizens are born with certain natural rights; that none are born superior to any other; that all will be treated equally before the law; and that the state has a duty to help the neediest of its people—reading Paine offers a political and spiritual inspiration, one that has driven men and women to achieve greatness across history. Of Paine’s many reasons for daring to publish work for which he could have been hanged or guillotined in the United Colonies, the United Kingdom, or France, this legacy is his glory.”

The US resistance movement fighting the Trump regime’s effort to destroy everything Thomas Paine stood for and fought for, and more, will be stronger if we raise him up more and more over the coming months as we approach the 250th anniversary on July 4th next year of the issuing of the Declaration of Independence. There’s no question which side he would be on if he was alive today.

Board Of Peace?

Are you kidding me?

It should read “Bored of Peace”.

We all know what is going on in Gaza if you do not then you are a mindless freak and now that the fighting is over and the death and starvation continues our dear little Donny has a brilliant idea….a Board of Peace.

What is the purpose?

Chaired by Trump, the board was originally envisaged as a small group of world leaders overseeing the Gaza ceasefire plan. The Trump administration’s ambitions have since expanded into a more sprawling concept, with Trump extending invitations to dozens of nations and hinting the board will soon broker global conflicts. Trump headed on Tuesday for the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, where he’s expected to provide more details.  Hint:  He offered very little explanation as usual)

This organization will oversee the rebuilding of Gaza after the devastation by Israel….and members have been announced….

President Trump used the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, to unveil a proposed “Board of Peace” for Gaza, bringing leaders from more than a dozen countries onstage Thursday, though many top American allies aren’t participating in the board. Speaking at a ceremony to sign the board’s charter, Trump said it could work with the United Nations to resolve wars not only in the Middle East, where the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza was the genesis of the concept, the AP reports.

  • Trump offered few details about its mandate and how the panel will work or might pursue efforts to end global conflicts, but he hailed the board as “something very, very unique for the world.”
  • “I think we can spread out to other things as as we succeed with Gaza, we’re going to be very successful in Gaza,” Trump said. “We can do numerous other things. Once this board is completely formed, we can do pretty much whatever we want to do.”
  • Trump did not provide specifics about how the board would cooperate with the UN. A number of countries, many of them close US allies, have expressed concerns Trump might want the board to supplant or rival the UN and have either refused to sign on or remained noncommittal. Vladimir Putin says he’ll join the board if the US unfreezes Russian assets. Joining requires paying a $1 billion “bond of peace.”
  • The Guardian notes the the Board of Peace logo resembles the UN logo, “except reworked in Trump fashion: all in gold, and focused squarely on the US.”
  • Some of the leaders at the Board of Peace ceremony had little connection to the Middle East, the Telegraph reports. Argentina, Mongolia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Paraguay were represented. Viktor Orban of Hungary was the only European leader present.

Now I ask you does it make sense to put Israel, US and possibly Russia on a Board of Peace?

This smells like just another way to wrestle Gaza out of the hands of Palestinians to the benefit of the world’s biggest warmongers.

As usual with most of Donny’s plans….there is little information on how it will work.

This is just another scam from the world’s biggest con man.

Donny, The Waffling Man

JUst a few days ago there was a mash-up of tough talk by our Dear Donny over his desire to steal Greenland….from invasion by force to tariffs on anyone who sided with Greenland.

That was just days ago….and in true form Donny waffled on Greenland.

President Trump announced Wednesday that he was canceling his planned tariff on US allies in Europe over US control of Greenland after he and the leader of NATO agreed to a “framework of a future deal” on Arctic security.

  • “Based upon a very productive meeting that I have had with the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, we have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region,” Trump said in a Truth Social post. “This solution, if consummated, will be a great one for the United States of America, and all NATO Nations. Based upon this understanding, I will not be imposing the Tariffs that were scheduled to go into effect on February 1st. Additional discussions are being held concerning The Golden Dome as it pertains to Greenland.”

The abrupt about-face emerged hours after Trump had insisted that he wants to “get Greenland, including right, title and ownership,” but said he would not use force to do so while deriding European allies and vowing that NATO should not try to block US expansionism. In an extraordinary speech at the World Economic Forum, the president said he was asking for territory that was “cold and poorly located.” He said the US had effectively saved Europe during World War II and even declared of NATO: “It’s a very small ask compared to what we have given them for many, many decades.”

In subsequent comments to reporters, he declined to name a price that might be paid, saying only, “There’s a bigger price, and that’s the price of safety and security and national security and international security.” Afterward, Trump met with the leaders of Poland, Belgium, and Egypt and again repeated that the US would not be invading Greenland, the AP reports. The New York Times reports that stocks surged after Trump backed down from the tariff threat, erasing their steep losses from the previous day.

So was it an idle threat that backfired?

Well that settled what about his threat of the use of force to acquire Greenland?

President Trump has finally taken the idea of using military force in Greenland off the table. In his remarks to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Politico and the New York Times report Trump said, “We probably won’t get anything unless I decide to use excessive strength and force, where we would be, frankly, unstoppable, but I won’t do that. That’s probably the biggest statement I made, because people thought I would use force, but I don’t have to use force. I don’t want to use force. I won’t use force. All the United States is asking for is a place called Greenland.” More standout lines from his more than hour-long Davos speech:

  • He opened by saying, “It’s great to be back in beautiful Davos” alongside “so many business leaders, so many friends, a few enemies and all of the distinguished guests.”
  • “I have tremendous respect for both the people of Greenland and the people of Denmark. But every NATO ally has an obligation to be able to defend their own territory. And the fact is, no nation or a group of nations is in any position to be able to secure Greenland other than the United States.”
  • Per the Times, Trump made the case that when Germany invaded Denmark in World War II, the US had to send forces to defend Greenland but then chose to give it back to Denmark. He framed America as “stupid” for doing so and Denmark “ungrateful.” He quipped that “you’d all be speaking German and little Japanese” if not for America’s war efforts.
  • The Times adds it’s not quite right to say the US gave Greenland back: “Denmark signed a deal in 1941 for the United States to defend Greenland, a Danish territory, but never to take it over.”
  • Trump said the US is seeking “immediate negotiations” to discuss the acquisition of Greenland.
  • The Times reports there were “some gasps in the audience” after Trump set his sights on Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, saying, “Canada lives because of the United States. Remember that, Mark, the next time you make your statements,” an apparent reference to Carney’s Tuesday speech.
  • Trump then described Greenland as a “cold and poorly located [place] that can play a vital role in world peace and world protection. It’s a very small ask.”
  • “You can say yes and we will be very appreciative, or you can say no and we will remember,” he said to European leaders of his acquisition request, per the Guardian.

I have said this man is an idiot and every day he opens his mouth and removes any doubt….

President Donald Trump told a room full of German speakers that they would be “speaking German” without the US at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Taxation Without Representation

An old bitch but holds true today as it did in the 18th century.

What the Hell am I going on about?

Tariffs.  Remember those half ass ideas?

I have tried to get people thinking about this stupidity…..all tariffs are paid for by the consumer (that would be you)….

A new study of President Trump’s tariffs will not please the president: The research finds that Americans are footing nearly the entire cost of them, reports the Wall Street Journal. Specifically, the study from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in Germany finds that US consumers and importers are paying about 96% of the costs tied to the tariff hikes, with foreign exporters absorbing the remainder. That runs counter to Trump’s frequent assertion that tariffs function as a kind of tax paid by other countries, and it suggests Washington may have less leverage than advertised in ongoing trade tensions with Europe.

“Foreign exporters did not meaningfully reduce their prices in response to US tariff increases,” reads the report, per Bloomberg. “The $200 billion surge in customs revenue represents $200 billion extracted from American businesses and households.” The researchers examined roughly $4 trillion in shipments between January 2024 and November 2025, concluding that the tariffs have effectively operated as a consumption tax on Americans, pushing up prices over time.

“There is no such thing as foreigners transferring wealth to the US in the form of tariffs,” co-author Julian Hinz of Germany’s Bielefeld University tells the Journal. He added, however, that foreign exporters might eventually absorb more of the tariffs if American companies find other sources of products. Earlier studies from Yale’s Budget Lab and Harvard Business School reached similar conclusions, though Harvard economists found that only about 20% of the tariff costs had fully shown up in consumer prices after six months, with much of the hit initially borne by US importers and retailers.

If that is not enough info then maybe this will help….

Why taxation with representation?

The cost of tariffs are a hidden tax that we all MUST pay…..plus it was foisted upon us without the use of Congress (our representation)…..ergo we are taxed without representation.

Do you get it now?

Is Life Great Again?

++++Today is another hospital ordeal…..my biopsy to start at 0700 and god knows when it will end…..for that reason this will be my only offering today and hopefully everything will be good for tomorrow.++++

Donny has a tendency to spews crap and the best manure he spreads is how life has gotten better for us mere peasants (in his eyes)….but is his outlook accurate?

Let’s look at life thanks to commondreams.org…..there are 47 ways that we are worse off thanx to Donny and his Band of Goons…..

The first section highlights that Trump (1) cut the minimum wage for nearly 400,000 federal contractors, (2) ended enforcement of protections for workers illegally classified as independent contractors, (3) slashed wages of migrant farmworkers in the H-2A program, (4) deprived in-home healthcare workers of minimum wage and overtime pay, and (5) facilitated the inclusion of cryptocurrencies among 401(k) investment options.

On the job creation front, the president (6) paused funding for projects authorized under a bipartisan infrastructure law, (7) signed the Laken Riley Act as part of his mass deportation agenda, (8) revoked an executive order that created a federal interagency working group focused on expanding apprenticeships, (9) is trying to shutter Job Corps centers operated by federal contractors, and (10) disrupted manufacturing supply chains with chaotic trade policy.

In addition to (11) attacking the union rights of over 1 million government employees, Trump (12) delayed enforcement of the silica rule for coal miners, (13) proposed limiting the scope of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s general duty clause, (14) fired National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo, (15) stripped work permits and temporary protections from immigrants lawfully in the country, and (16) deterred worker organizing with immigration enforcement actions.

Trump’s assault on workers’ rights has included (17) nominating Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, who has pursued a deregulatory agenda, (18) illegally firing Gwynne Wilcox from the NLRB, (19) ending funding to fight human trafficking and child and forced labor globally, and (20) terminating International Labor Affairs Bureau grants.

Chavez-DeRemer isn’t Trump’s only controversial pick for a key labor post. He’s also nominated (20) Jonathan Berry as solicitor of labor, (21) Crystal Carey as NLRB general counsel, (22) Scott Mayer as an NLRB board member, and (23) Daniel Aronowitz to lead the Employee Benefits Security Administration.

Trump has also (24) weakened workplace safety penalties for smaller businesses, (25) nominated Andrea Lucas as Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) chair, (26) revoked an executive order promoting strong labor standards on projects receiving federal funds, (27) appointed Elisabeth Messenger, the former leader of an anti-union group, to head the Office of Labor-Management Standards, (28) fired EEOC Commissioners Charlotte Burrows and Jocelyn Samuels, and (29) conducted systematic worksite raids that punished workers rather than improving wages and working conditions.

The president’s various “deliberate actions to weaken the federal government” have included (30) politicizing career Senior Executive Service officials, (31) firing most staff at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, (32) nominating Brittany Panuccio as an EEOC commissioner, (33) and picking Project 2025 architect Russell Vought as Office of Management and Budget director.

He has also fired (34) Federal Labor Relations Authority Chair Susan Tsui Grundmann and (35) Merit Systems Protection Board Member Cathy Harris, and (36) tried to fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, whose case is set to be argued before the US Supreme Court next week. Trump further (37) fired Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Commissioner Erika McEntarfer over accurate economic data, and is attempting to shut down (38) the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and (39) the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.

Additionally, the president (40) directed federal agencies to end the use of disparate impact liability, (41) put independent agencies under his supervision, (42) signed the so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act that transfers wealth from working families to the ultrarich, (43) proposed a rule that would make it easier to fire federal employees for political reasons, and (44) issued an executive order on apprenticeships that does not require the government to consult with labor groups.

Finally, since returning to the White House, the Republican has (45) gutted the federal workforce, (46) directed US Attorney General Pam Bondi to challenge state laws that would regulate artificial intelligence technologies, and (47) fired 17 inspectors general.

Can SCOTUS Be Fixed?

A new year and a new focus on the political hacks we call the Supreme Court.

It is actually functioning as an extension of MAGA these days and it is time for us peasants to realize that it must be changed or replaced.

The justices of the US supreme court – even its conservatives – have traditionally valued their institution’s own standing. John Roberts, the current US chief justice, has always been praised – even by liberals – as a staunch advocate of the court’s image as a neutral arbiter. For decades, Americans believed the court soared above the fray of partisan contestation.

No more.

In Donald Trump’s second term, the supreme court’s conservative supermajority has seized the opportunity to empower the nation’s chief executive. In response, public approval of the court has collapsed. The question is what it means for liberals to catch up to this new reality of a court that willingly tanks its own legitimacy. Eager to realize cherished goals of assigning power to the president and arrogating as much for itself, the conservative justices seemingly no longer care what the public or the legal community think of the court’s actions. Too often, though, liberals are responding with nostalgia for a court that cares about its high standing. There is a much better option: to grasp the opportunity to set right the supreme court’s role in US democracy.

If we agree that something needs to be done with SCOTUS and its drift from neutral arbitrator to MAGA enforcer then what can be done?

There are a few suggestions….

Should Democrats retake the White House in 2028 and have majorities in both chambers of Congress, one legal expert is arguing there are numerous ways the six-member conservative majority on the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) could be brought to heel.

In a Monday essay for Slate, legal writer and attorney Mark Joseph Stern directly addressed a reader’s concern that no matter what laws Democrats may try to pass under a potential new Democratic majority government, the Supreme Court could simply strike those laws down. Stern countered that there are several ways to re-establish Congress’ powers and prevent SCOTUS from acting as an unelected super-legislature.

First, Stern argued that Congress should immediately grant statehood to both Puerto Rico and Washington D.C. as part of a “suite of structural reforms.” He argued this was a necessary step to take in order to make sure that sparsely populated conservative states like South Dakota and Wyoming aren’t over-represented in Congress (both territories have already passed statehood resolutions, meaning all Congress needs to do is pass a bill to admit them).

“Remember, the senators who voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court represented fewer people than the senators who voted to oppose him,” Stern wrote. “That is a huge structural problem that Congress can fix.”

Second, Stern proposed that Congress pass a law that would require the Supreme Court to have a 7-2 supermajority to strike down any legislation passed by Congress and signed into law by the president. He noted that the Nebraska and North Dakota state constitutions already have amendments requiring a supreme court supermajority in order to toss out any laws, and called on a potential future Democratic government to “put it in there that the law cannot be struck down unless seven justices agree that it’s unconstitutional.”

Stern also advocated for imposing a strict time limit on the judicial review process, calling the Supreme Court to no longer be able to evaluate the constitutionality of any new laws more than one calendar year after their passage. He observed that the Supreme Court’s 2012 review of the Affordable Care Act took place after Democrats had already lost their majority in the House of Representatives in 2010, and that a one-year limit would mean that Congress’ partisan makeup would still be the same if the Court threw out any laws passed by that Congress and lawmakers wanted to try passing the law again.

The Slate author described these proposed reforms as a “good-faith effort by Democrats to recalibrate the balance of power by reestablishing Congress’ primacy and diminishing the Supreme Court’s untouchable supremacy.” However, he allowed for the possibility that these reforms may fall short. In that event, he called on Democrats to “add four seats” and pack the Supreme Court with new Democratic appointees.

“The current Republican justices have already shredded adherence to precedent. A future liberal majority should say no to unilateral disarmament and apply the same rules,” Stern wrote. “That is how Democrats put the court back in its place: by undoing its attacks on democracy and restoring the constitutional settlement the Roberts court has spent years dismantling.”

I do not think much will change (for now) no matter what happens in November.

Personally I think it is beyond time to put these smug bastards in their place or rid ourselves of their stench completely.

But that is just me.
