Seriously?
How many is that now?
There have been 398 children killed by gun violence….and yet there is very little public outcry (how sad is that?)….At least 57 people have died in 38 mass shootings in the U.S. so far this month, with another 133 injured.
The newest incident is in Nashville…..
The three students shot to death Monday at a private school in Nashville were all 9 years old, police said—two girls and a boy. Officials identified them as Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, the Tennessean reports. The adult victims were Cynthia Peak, 61; Katherine Koonce, 60; and Mike Hill, 61. Hill was a custodian, Koonce the Covenant School’s headmaster, and Peak a substitute teacher, investigators said. In an afternoon press conference, Police Chief John Drake said, “I was literally moved to tears to see this and the kids as they were being ushered out of the building.”
The six were killed by Audrey Hale, 28, a former student at the school, Drake said. Hale was killed by officers less than 15 minutes after the shooting began. Hale had no criminal history and obtained two of the three weapons used locally. In a search of a house later, police said they found a plan for the attack, including maps showing existing surveillance and points of entry, as well as a written screed. All entrances to the building were locked, per USA Today, and Hale got in by shooting a door. Police said Hale was a transgender man who used male pronouns, per the Tennessean.
What kind of POS does it take to want to shoot children?
The White House has had enough (don’t make me laugh)
“Enough is enough,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said at Monday’s briefing, hours after three children and three staff members were killed in a mass shooting at a private Christian elementary school in Nashville. “How many more children have to be murdered before Republicans in Congress will step up and act to pass the assault weapons ban, to close loopholes in our background check system, or to require the safe storage of guns?” she said, per the Washington Post. “We need to do something.” Police said the shooter, a 28-year-old woman armed with two assault rifles and a handgun, was shot dead by officers at the scene.
President Biden addressed the shooting during a small-business event at the White House, the New York Times reports. He called the shooting a “family’s worst nightmare” and urged Congress to pass gun control measures. “The shooter in this situation reportedly had two assault weapons and a pistol,” the president said. “So I call on Congress, again, to pass my assault weapons ban. It’s about time that we begin to make some progress.” “It’s ripping at the soul of this nation, ripping at the very soul of this nation,” Biden said of gun violence.
Jill Biden, speaking at a National League of Cities event in Washington, also condemned the Covenant School shooting, USA Today reports. “I am truly without words and our children deserve better,” the first lady said. “We stand, all of us, we stand with Nashville in prayer.”
Do you really think Biden and the Dems will do anything?
Do you really think Congress will step up?
Don’t make me laugh!
I Read, I Write, You Know
“lego ergo scribo”
More prayers from the President and his wife= More dead kids some other day. Nobody cares, except the relatives left behind. NRA lobbying, bribes, voted from gun owners, profits for the arms companies, that’s all that those in power really care about. All the rest is ”Collateral Damage’.
Best wishes, Pete.
“Thoughts and prayers” is what one says when they could care less. chuq
It’s not Biden and the Democrats standing in the way – as you know, it takes a certain number of people to vote new laws in – a certain number to even have them discussed in Congress, and Republicans are staunchly opposed to any action whatsoever. Without a super majority to push new laws through, Biden can’t do much of anything so it’s not really fair to point the finger there on this issue – it’s pretty clear where the different parties stand on it.
It bears remembering. that not all laws (by a long shot) will be Constitutional. That aspect is quickly discarded by a certain side.
The game is compromise….and it will never end well. chuq
Compromise….on what’s Constitutional?
No on what to do about this blight….words are cheap if they want this type of stupidity to end then it will take real work…..something none are wanting to do. chuq
I’m all for laws that will prevent people from getting firearms, who shouldn’t have them; providing that they’re reasonable, enforceable and Constitutional.
I am against people having arsenals…..but then we get to the debate on what is Constitutional….and that is a whole different stupidity IMO Why? Because it will be emotion against emotion….very little rational thought. chuq
But here’s the problem – what’s an ‘arsenal’, and why? Might differing opinions be irrational and emotional?
An arsenal to me is having more guns than people in the house….but that is just me. Of course they can for most people can not think any other way. chuq
they definitely love their guns more than they do their kids… no doubt about that.
Nope. You are incorrect.
Constitutional Insurgent — If they did love their kids more than they love their guns they would get off their asses and get something done about the gun violence that takes the lives of their kids. So don’t give me that “You are incorrect” shit.
I’ll absolutely give you that ‘shit’. Nobody gets to dictate what’s important to me. Further, the gun control camp routinely traffics in outright lies about the 2A, the Constitutionality of many proposed gun control laws….and about the firearms themselves. If their cause is just, there’s no reason to lie. especially where it regards a fundamental Right.
Nobody gives a shit about taking gun rights away from people ..even I support the 2nd Amendment — What we need to get done is something to make sure that a person who gets their hands on a gun gets it legally and is mentally balanced enough to own it –or we need to get enough government money for every community to build a cemetery especially for kids .. near schools ..because until the government gets the gonads to do something this shit is never going to end ..
That ability already exists – NICS. Why aren’t states providing mental health information to this database? And the gun control crowd is absolutely working to ban guns that they don’t like.
They don’t like the ones that can kill the most kids in the least amount of time and that makes sense.
You mean, with each pull of the trigger….like every other firearm. Aside from subtle differences like trigger weight, length of pull, cycling action (gas v. direct impingement) and trigger reset….all of which are measured in milliseconds…..there is no tangible difference between scary looking black rifles and any other firearm. Now, if you want to discuss magazine capacity, that’s a different conversation.
Insurgent — I love you in the Name of the Lord but I cannot engage with you in a conversation about gun control because In my opinion, you are way off base.
We’re the only developed country in the world that unconditionally allows civilians to own military-style assault weapons, that allows “open carry,” and that lets gun manufacturers openly buy politicians (thanks, Republicans on the Supreme Court).
As a consequence, we’re also the only country in the world where the leading cause of death for children is being blown apart by bullets.
I’m going to ignore “assault”, since that’s merely placing a verb in front of the object for emotional appeal. But “military style”. Style. Do you test your assertions, or just roll with the talking points spouted and circulated by the gun control camp?
Here’s the question I always ask in response to “military style” or “weapons of war”. Of course, I never seem to get an answer. I’m counting on you here…..Can you name for me a class (or “style”) of firearm that is not or has not been a “military style” “weapon of war”?
I personally think that open carry is dumb, but I wouldn’t prohibit it merely because it makes some people uncomfortable. It’s nobody’s business when I’m carrying (which is almost always).
“Blown apart”. Listening to POTUS yesterday, I’ve got to find some of the bullets that “explode inside a body” that he keeps talking about. Just when I think that no POTUS can be dumber than Trump, along comes Joe talking about guns.
Insurgent — I am sorry but I am going to ignore everything you have to say because In My Opinion …In My Opinion …your response is defensive of guns and by association of the wanton murder of children by gun wielding nutbags and entirely in agreement with right-wing principles that I cannot recognize or support.
Don’t care. No gun control fetishist can adequately explain or define the terms that I highlighted. You’re but one more lemming in the flock.
Do not lower your standards, Insurgent .. your most recent comment, accusing me of something sounds a lot like something an internet troll would say and I know that you are not one of those. I realize you have a passion for your convictions and I respect that. It is just that in my opinion your convictions are part of a paradigm that most of the country rejects — and that is not your fault –but to call me names is unworthy of you. However, I will accept it because maybe it gives you pleasure to do so …or something. You are forgiven.
I have a thick skin, it gives me no “pleasure”. Work hard, play hard, debate hard.
Meticulous definition of legislation that would turn Citizens into felons is a bridge too far for those who engage in such. This is why your ‘side’ loses.

Let me add this is my opinion, I am not trying to lecture on lawmaking
Go ahead….somebody needs to teach them a thing or two chuq
Like a good friend of mine always says, “You can’t fix stupid” and nobody is dumber than some jackass politician who doesn’t have the balls to attack the gun violence issue.
We have a whole Congress of stupid…..chuq
What America needs is a huge national cemetery (Like Arkington) where nobody but children killed by gun violence would be interred. I guarantee you that in no time at all it would be ten times the size of Arlington Memorial.
At the rate they are dying then I have to agree. chuq
No problem, Mr. Rieber, even the politicians don’t know a damned thing about lawmaking … so whatever you say about lawmaking will be far superior to any of the crap the politicians vomit out of their filthy mouths.
There have been over 300 school shootings since sandy hook and it doesn’t matter how many it has been because it is never going to end as long as guns control the dialogue in Washington, D.C., and guns will always be the dialogue in Washington, D.C., until the nut cases who defend guns run out of lithium and get themselves locked away where they will never see the light of day again.
That debate will go on and on and children will continue to die and the public will continue to shrug it off. chuq
agreed
Yes, there is an unlimited supply of kids but the gun supply is finite.
Maybe that is the heart of the abortion thing. chuq
Lobotero — I was thinking the same thing just this morning. You are a mind reader.
Great minds, huh? How the eyes doing? chuq
Fortunately for me, both procedures went without a hitch, there are no evident complications, vision has been restored to 20/20 in both eyes, clear as a bell ..I have to insert a regimen of eye drops for a week and then all is home free if nothing happens …so far it is all painless — I had the surgeries done by the Chief surgeon of the facility (which was an advantage) — and so far I am a happy camper. Thank you for your generosity in asking.
I had it 3 years ago and I am also a happy camper….need some reading glasses but other than that I see better than I did years ago….glad all is well…..chuq
Thank you for your kind and caring words.
You are welcome…..chuq
Guns ? Since Roe, the abortion people have murdered 70,000,000 children. But that’s not criminal and OK, eh ?
Why bring that into the debate over gun violence….chuq
Because the left is always inconsistant over what is right or wrong. If things fit their agenda it’s OK, if not , it’s not OK. Of course right or left both dread the killing of our children but the left condemns an entire society as proof for their gun confiscation agenda instead of focusing on the individual shooters. Why are they fearful of shootings at schools and not concerned about the DA’s who refuse to prosecute shooters and murderers in our big cities ? Arrest made, criminal goes free – no charge, no trial. Why is one class of shooters considered evil and another class of shooters are not even prosecuted ? We need the guns to fight a tyrannical government if that ever becomes the case. Why does the left want 87,000 IRS agents who will be fully armed ? That is a domestic army not designed to protect from invaders but a domestic army aimed to suppress, control, and monitor the people of our own country. A person has to be fairly stupid not to recognize that a domestic army aimed at its own citizens may be coming! Why does the left reject armed guards at schools ? Why does the left think disarming citizens makes people safer against crime ? Why does the left think declaring a city a no gun zone make them safe from gun violence ? Chicago has the strictest gun laws in the country and look at its weekly shooting numbers. If a people want an open society there are inherent dangers in that openness. Why are our open borders resulting in the arrival of fentanyl which has killed 100,000 Americans OK and the left is dismissive of that but concerned when a shooter murders a handful of people ? Isn’t that peculiar?
A simplistic view….the so-called “Left” is not calling to disarm citizens…that is how lies get started….most want some sort of control on assault weapons…..and that handful of people have been children…..chuq
Why does the left want 87,000 IRS agents who will be fully armed ?
We may (mostly anyway) agree on gun control, but this is exactly the type of disinformation that I call out the Left for employing. It’s unnecessary and disingenuous. In harsher terms, it’s a lie that somebody told you.

That was Carl that made that statement…..not mine chuq
I know, I didn’t see a ‘Reply’ link under his comment, since he replied to yours. Maybe a glitch on my end.
I can see both…..but I will check to be sure it is not me. chuq
I see the ‘Reply’ link at home, on my work computer, it didn’t show up for some reason. Reposting my reply there is you want to delete the previous.
Everyone’s safety would be greatly enhanced with consistent enforcement of our present gun control laws. Then there is the matter of DA’s choosing not to prosecute dangerous criminals which breeds fearless evil doers. My now adult two children survived 5 drive-by shootings. Unfortunately, no laws would have prevented the thugs from acquiring their weapons and committing drive-bys. Chicago has some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the country yet several dozen people are shot(and some killed) every weekend. So what’s the answer ? I don’t have an answer and regret that.
Everybody’s safety would be enhanced with assault type weapons were not readily available to every Tom , Dick and Harry with a credit card. chuq
