Here We Go Again! (And Again)

Those damn drums of war are beating loudly….and the Congress and media is whipping the populace into a blood thirsty mob.

The predictions from our man in the High Castle is not good news….

President Biden told the nation Friday that he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided whether his forces will invade Ukraine. “We believe that they will target Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, a city of 2.8 million innocent people,” Biden said from the White House, the Los Angeles Times reports, adding that he has reasons for concluding that’s Putin’s intention. “We’re calling out Russia’s plans loudly and repeatedly, not because we want a conflict, but because we’re doing everything in our power to remove any reasons that Russia may give to justify invading Ukraine.”

It was Biden’s bluntest assessment yet of the situation at the Ukraine border. Asked how he reached his conclusion, per USA Today, Biden said he was informed by the nation’s “significant intelligence capability.” Up until the moment of attack, Biden said, diplomacy remains a way out of the impasse involving Putin, Ukraine, and NATO nations. “As of this moment, I am convinced he’s made the decision,” Biden said. The president promised to help the Ukraine people but again said US troops would not be going into the country.

The mayor of Kyiv told the Munich Security Conference that his city would resist an invasion. “We’re ready to fight with our families,” said Vitali Klitschko, who thanked the allies for financial aid from the audience but added, “What we need right now [is] defensive weapons.” The leaders at the annual conference warned Russia that an invasion would cause lasting harm to global norms, per the Washington Post. Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken are representing the US in Germany.

Our SecState is cheer leading as well and making the rounds to keep the war juices flowing at a fever pitch….

Blinken claimed that the US has evidence that Russian forces “are preparing to launch an attack against Ukraine in the coming days.” He accused Russia of creating a pretext for the attack that could include a fake “terrorist bombing” or “a fake, even a real, attack using chemical weapons.” Blinken named targets Russia would then attack in Ukraine, including the capital Kyiv.

As usual, Blinken did not offer any evidence to back up the claims, and Russia strongly rejected the accusations. At the Security Council meeting, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin called the false flag claims a “baseless accusation.”

Let the cash pour in!

There is only one winner in this thing…..the usual suspects….the M-IC.

Then there is the media…..these slugs are laying the foundation for this supposed ‘invasion’….

Thursday was roiling with headlines—thanks to remarks from U.S. government officials, including President Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and US Ambassador to the UN Linda Greenfield—that a Russian invasion of Ukraine was “imminent.” As a result, social media was crackling with the speculation that war might break out any moment.

Media coverage of the Ukraine crisis for the last several months has been increasingly sensationalist and overwrought. Many of the worst features of Western media reporting on foreign policy issues have been on display from the mostly uncritical acceptance of government claims at face value to the worst-case alarmism about what is going to happen.

It is good to have the media in your pocket…this is how the war will be sold to us mere mortals.

  1. If there is no intention to offer ‘boots on the ground’ support to Ukraine, then the only reason to whip up this hysteria can be to sell that country weapons. To try to make the war happen to do that is simply cynical in the extreme, not to mention shameful.
And why choose Munich as a conference venue? I cannot believe that was by chance, as the significance of that city still rings through history.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. March 8, 2022 — as I look back on this thing, it seems that the president and the defense people were kind of spot on in their assessment of a potential war breaking out between Russia and Ukraine … can you agree that it was a little more than beating of the ewar drums at this point?

      1. Yes they have been….but if you cry wolf enough times and one shows up…..c an you say that you are accurate? Just a thought. chuq

  3. I have discovered through more than 80 years of living that if you cry wolf long enough and loud enough some wolf will hear it, think you are calling it and will come.
