We hear almost daily somewhere that this Muslim did this or said that or thought thusly….but there is seldom anything when a “Christian” acts out some sick or perverted event……
But being a person that reads constantly I run across some amazing crap that the media overlooks….and especially when it is about Christians acting badly….
For instance……
Baptist pastor from Missouri has been sentenced to 50 years in prison last week for hiring his mistress and her husband to burn his house down with his wife inside of it, reports the Riverfront Times.
Donald Lafferty, 71, who was sentenced to 50 years in prison after a jury convicted him on charges of attempted murder, arson, armed criminal action and financial exploitation of the elderly after investigators discovered he had embezzled $87,000 from his 89-year-old mother.
The January 12, 2013 fire at Lafferty’s home had become a cold case despite investigators finding evidence of arson.
The case was reopened in April of 2014, after investigators uncovered evidence that Lafferty had forged power-of-attorney documents and transferred his mother’s life saving into an account controlled by him.
According to investigators, Lafferty had been involved in an affair with Brandy Lee Hicks, 33, who was a member of Beech Grove Church along with her husband, Christopher Hicks, 34.
A fine example of Christian love……
Then there was another Christian acting badly…….
A pastor in Somerset County, New Jersey, did a really crappy job of faking a hate crime against himself last Friday, according to local officials. Rev. Jairon Pena of the New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church was found by Somerset police inside his church, with his hands and legs “loosely bound” with rope, a rag stuffed in his mouth, a plastic bag over his head, and a “piece of paper taped to his chest and back with a misspelled Islamic phrase” on it.
Police arrested Pena after he told them an inconsistent story about having been assaulted by two men and a woman wearing masks and gloves, who allegedly beat him, pulled Bibles from the pews, and stomped on them — all the while blaspheming against God. The detectives quickly noticed that Pena was remarkably uninjured for a guy who’d supposedly been beaten, and the pastor eventually admitted he’d made up the entire story due to unspecified “personal events in his life,” according to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano, who charged Pena with “false public alarm, false swearing and fictitious report to law enforcement.”

Its called argument using specific cases ; the media use it all the time.
It does highlight the problem of news since most news is about specific cases and unusual cases.
So although the media have a share of the blame the reader must take his share in his inability to interpret the news.
Here’s an interestng but absolutely.true piece of news.
Grass was incouraged to grow all over the world today as the sun shone on it.
Thanx for the visit and the comment…..the media is used as a propaganda tool…reporting only what drives the paradigm set forth….chuq
Christians do not post the threat to civilization that some of the “Not Really Muslims” do. There is no comparison.

Christianity…the religion of love…
That is a matter of opinion….these men are teaching our children….and no sees the damage they can do…..but that is okay right?
The Truth of Christianity is that all things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purposes. Salvation is a free gift from God and is wrought not with righteous works of the hands but through the regeneration that comes by the Blood of Jesus Christ and the whole thing is an act of Grace on the part of God. The works of a man shall never enter into the Kingdom of Heaven and neither will his sin or his sinful nature. What is done on this earth is going to pass away at the end time and only God and His redeemed will survive. Christianity works on faith and is not contingent upon works. Christianity prepares us for a Spiritual world, not this physical one. God protects those whom He calls and who respond to His call. The “Men” can teach anything their hearts desire but once a person hears the call of God and responds, The Holy Spirit clears away all obstacles to whoever has been taught so that whoever has been taught can discern truth from error and be enabled by The Holy Spirit to act on that Truth and to reject everything else. Jesus said, “My sheep shall hear my voice and they will not follow another.” Yes, it is okay — God controls the destiny of Mankind and all things will work together for good (all things whether they appear to be good or evil) for those who are called and who love Him. He is all powerful and all knowledgeable and is fully able to perform the things He says He can do. We have to believe these things by faith and faith is also a gift from God for those who ask for it. Yes, — the answer to your question is “Yes,” it is okay!
Sorry John I have seen nothing that would lead me believe that Christians are living the word of Jesus nor God
It is all in their desire and the efforts they make. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. There is not onoe rightous, no not one. All have gone their own way and none does the Will of God. It is not a matter of what men do for God or do not do for God. It is a matter of what God has done for mankind. Faith is the evidence of things unseen, and there is no need for us to “See” any evidence of who is living for God and who is not. That is in His court. That is in His hands. He knows who we are. If any were perfect then Jesus would never have needed to die on the cross. Man will always fail. Man is always imperfect. God does not look on what the man does but can only see the man through the veil of the Blood of Christ that is applied to him at the moment of Salvation. If you are looking for some kind of confirmational sign then you will never find it. God hides these things from all but those who seek Him. But the good part is that those who seek Him will find Him. He has promised that much.
Then heaven will be an empty place…..these so-called Christians do not walk the walk they claim they follow.
This is for God to decide. Jesus Himself has said that Many shall seek to enter into His Kingdom but there will be few who find the way. He has also promised that those who seek Him will definitely find Him. He has also said that He alone is the way, the truth and the life and that no one can come to the Father (God) except through Him. The number of those who will be saved in the end is strictly up to God and yes, Heaven will be bare of a lot of folks who could have gone there if only they had listened to the call of God. However, the believer can only pray for those souls and do the best he or she can do to do what God demands of them.
If all that is true then why are these people so vindictive and petty? I am sure there are some really good devout Christians but so far I have met few that I would consider devout.
It is not up to us as individuals to judge who is devout and who is not. It is our place to do the best we can ourselves. People are vindictive and petty because they still have the sin nature in them. It is not by their works they are saved but by their faith. They may remain perfectly filthy outwardly until the time of the regeneration and most probably will remain that way because the verities of the Eternal are not discerned by the corporeal mind. The verities of the Eternal are discerned by the Spiritual Mind that operates above and beyond the temporal. Man whoi has accepted Christ as Savior and Lord is nothing but a sinner saved by grace. They never cease to sin but their sins are forgiven. God chooses to see nothing but the mantle of His Son’s Blood that covers them once they have responded to His call to repent. They will always be imperfect vessels until God performs the final act of perfection upon them. I myself am not without sin in my flesh nature but I am commanded to clean my own house before I try to take a broom to the houses of others.
So basically one can do and say anything as long as they think they are doing good then they are saved? I will pass.
I was taught by my parents the way to deal with life and it has worked well for me….
God meets us all at the point of our understanding. He deals with each of us on the basis of the nature of our understanding of Him.
May I suggest that a bit more study is needed
Christianity demands a lifetime of study. It is a never-ending study. The Word of God is Life and it must be constantly fed to the soul. The soul who embraces the precepts of The Word hunger for more and more of it as if it were a fountain of the purest water and the one drinking it lived in a perpetual desert. One can never get enough of the study of God’s Word. The more we think we have learned about it the more we find out we don’t yet know. Yes “A bit” more study is indeed required … massive “Bits” of study will only scratch the surface.
I think I would say that if you have seen nothing that would lead your to beleive that Christians are living the word of Jesus nor God then the best that you can do is to do your best to live the word of Jesus and God yourself and leave the rest to the Almighty. He loves you, He cares for you, He will lead you and guide you. In the end it always boils down between the individual and His God. There are not whole masses of humanity present nor involved in our interpersonal relationships with God at the time we are destined to leave this world and to meet Him face to face. It is an individual thing. So all we can do is the best we can do with what we have and not worry too much about what the rest of the world does. We will not enjoy a blessed eternity based on what the rest of the world does, says or things. We will do it on the basis of our own individual relationship with the Divine.
I live where religion is supposedly paramount and they are the most insulting, less compassionate group I have ever been around….most are either Baptist or Catholic.
They all go to church every Sunday and Monday they are back to bad mouthing and looking down on their fellow man….
If that is Christianity then I can do better.
No one is perfect. Salvation is not dependent on the works of the flesh but on the gifts of the Spirit. These gifts are bestowed by God on the repentent sinner. Christians are works in progress. They are not completed until the second coming when they will be translated into another form. No one knows what that form will be like but we are assured that when the change comes those who are changed will find themselves suddenly like Christ. They will have all their tears wiped away and all their sins will be cast into the eternal sea of forgetfulness to be remembered no more by God.
Yes that is Christianity and maybe you can do better but I would counsel that to look upon the Christian walk of others is a mistake and we really need to be working on our own.
Most are short changed then…..they can speak hatefully and then still move on? Good advice John but NO christian will follow.
Like I said before, “That is not my judgment to make.” The mouth is always going to be a fountain filled with poison because the mouth is a fleshly thing. But no flesh shall enter into Heaven nor the works thereof. They can say nasty things and move on because they have Christ in Heaven propitiating for them … pleading their case …. protecting them from the further claim of Satan upon their souls.

John, All Christians, no all religious types make judgment on others…if rhetoric is any indication of their spirit then they need to do a bit more work.
We all need to do a bit more work.
I am at ease with my spirit and my beliefs.
I am happy for you
I am also happy with my choices and my decisions.
As well you should be.
One life, ’twill soon be past!
Only what’s done for Christ will last.
I cannot see where anything is done for Christ….it is done for their own benefit and find ways to justify anything.
You and God can work this out between you. I am but a mere mortal and though I am a self-acknowledged genius in most things …snark …lol … I cannot get between you and your relationship with the Eternal. Like I said, “Other Christians have their own yard to rake and I am busy enough trying to rake my own.”
The creator and I have already worked it out….I am pleased with mine.
This is good. I am happy for you.
So am I,albeit I am only flesh….thing is there are very few people in this world who live in peace…meaning an inner peace……we are so indoctrinated by concepts that we simply can only Bbbbaaaaa…
Working out a relationship is with ones self only….most wear religion like a cloak to hide their inner confusion.
” The mythology of peace comes in the doctrines of Jesus or Lao Tzu,or the Buddha. But those do not dominate the culture” as you can see…grin
“Working out a relationship is with ones self only…most wear religion like a cloak to hide their inner confusion.” Well said and I agree.
