First let me answer the question……unequivocally………..YES!
The South is a hot bed of conservative politics….well that is not accurate…..it is hot bed of Tea Party politics……and for decades I have wondered just what they were doing…they seem to vote to screw themselves and then continue to screw themselves…..I have asked where is the rationale?

Interesting discussion, one that gets the reader to think, but, I will merely refer you to the comments I made on yesterday’s post, about Mississippi’s legislature and birds…. with a reminder that stupidity is not limited to those who are uneducated… There are a very large number of people wandering around who have college degrees, can spell and punctuate well enough to satisfy even the grammar nazis, and still can’t string two coherent thoughts together without help from their Dick Tracy watch….
North, South, East, West, they’re all getting dumber, every day, and there isn’t anything anyone can do to change that… Every time another human being is born, the average intelligence of the species goes down; it is a mathematical certainty, easily demonstrable even to someone who is only conversant with arithmetic…and the numbers don’t lie… All we can really do is try to stem the tide of ignorance, by poking at them whenever possible, either to educate them, to shut them up, or to nudge them away from our presence….
If it weren’t so evil to even think of it, the overall best solution to the problem resembles the one Adolph Hitler tried to use, i.e., genocide, with IQ as the determining factor to decide who lives, and who dies… thus, taking it out of the hands of natural forces, and assuming the mantle of God…. Not too good for the karmic burden we all carry, to say the least… Not to mention having to live on anti-nausea drugs, to be able to look in the mirror….
Sorry, needed to get that out… This is a good article, but, it begins from a point from which the view is limited, by the nature of the subject under view, and thus, never reaches the point it needs to make, which is….. Yes, the South is a drag on American culture, and no, there isn’t anything to do that will improve the situation, until we figure out a way to overcome the inertial resistance of our culture to suffering ANY change….
That’s my take, anyway, but, then, I’m convinced that our own stupidity is going to kill all of us, and there is little, if anything, we can do about THAT, either, so, perhaps I’m a bit prejudiced…. Ultimately, the results will look the same, I think…
