America’s Purpose and Role in a Changed World | World Affairs Journal

To me, American’ foreign policy has been in the crapper since the 1990’s……no matter how a new prez tries he just cannot seem to find a good stable policy…..

I ran across this article and wanted to pass ir on and hopefully get my readers opinion……

  1. Our foreign policy should be to get along with people. Get along with Europe and the smaller countries in Asia (Japan, etc.) that want to work with us. Get along with the countries that have traditionally been our allies. In other words “be there for your friends.”

    1. The problem is we tend to gravitate toward power centers…….we tend to ignore the suffering of the smaller nations…..

      1. I think in the next couple years it will be clear that someone needs to balance out Russia and China’s power. I guess that is what I’m getting at.

      2. They both are growing in influence…..and they will need to be handled….but is the US capable of doing it without an armed conflict?

      3. You may not want to hear this (probably nobody does), but I think the U.S. and others may have to go “old school” Cold War on them – less trade, visa restrictions, etc.

      4. Do whatever it takes…..but remember a tit for tat……would be good for the defense biz….

      5. Yes this is true. No interest genocide Africa, Haiti still note recovered from 2005 hurricanes and later earthquake and over 10,000 civilians killed in drug wars in Mexico. Mexico has no control over 1/3 of its territory to drug cartels. And then there is the gang/drug terrorism in the inner cities right here.
