Hey! It’s Working!

I wish the twats on the Right would shut up and let the facts drive the conversation…..but that is probably too much to ask for in these times, huh?

We all know just how the Right feels about Obamacare, right?  They are always telling us what a dismal failure it is and will be…..and of course the Prez gave them more ammo when in postponed the small business part of the law……let me interrupt the mindless clowns and telling of the successes……..but first let’s look at the action taken by the House (again)………

(AP) – House Republicans voted today to delay core provisions of ObamaCare, emboldened by the administration’s concession that requiring companies to provide coverage for their workers next year may be too complicated. After a day of heated rhetoric, the House voted largely along party lines, 264-161, to delay by one year the so-called employer mandate of the Affordable Care Act. It voted 251-174 to extend a similar grace period to virtually all Americans who will be required to obtain coverage beginning Jan. 1, the linchpin of the law. The House legislation stands no chance in the Democratic-run Senate. Even if it somehow did, the White House promised two vetoes.

The dual political-show votes marked the 38th time the GOP majority has tried to eliminate, defund, or scale back the law since Republicans took control of the House in January 2011. “This administration cannot make its own law work,” said Rep. Dave Camp, R-Mich., chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, during House debate. Eager to counter the Republican criticism, Obama plans to deliver remarks tomorrow focusing on rebates that consumers are already receiving from insurance companies under the health care law.

And now as promised…..the SUCCESSES!

  • New York: Just today we found out that health insurance premiums for those in the individual market will plummet by 50 percent or more. The New York Times reports that someone who is paying $1,000 a month now will be able to purchase coverage next year for as little as $308 — and that’s not even counting potential Obamacare subsidies that could lower the cost even further.
  • California: The costs for a medium coverage plan are far below predictions. For example, in southern Los Angeles County Health Net is going to charge $242 a month for one of its plans while Blue Shield is charging $287 and Kaiser Permanente $325 for the same coverage. That means that the 5 million uninsured residents of California will now have more access to affordable, higher quality care than is currently available.
  • Montana: The individual and small group health plans sold on the marketplace will be cheaper and offer better coverage. Without the health law, insurance officials predicted the average premium in 2014 to rise by 10 percent to $290. Instead, the average cost for an individual plan will be $273 — about five percent lower than it would have been without the health law’s marketplace. Costs are going down even has insurance companies will now have to cover ten “essential health benefits,” including prescription drug and mental health services, that skimpy individual plans almost never cover.
  • Louisiana: Residents will soon see lower premiums as well. Just last week Louisiana’s largest private health insurer, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, estimated that two-thirds of its customers who buy their own policies will pay the same premiums or less for better coverage under the federal health care overhaul.
  • Washington: After warning that premiums would go up by 50-70 percent under Obamacare, Premera Blue Cross released rates for individual plans that are far lower that current levels. Premera currently offers individual plans for 21-year-old non-smokers at a monthly cost of $325, with a deductible of $1,800. In the exchange, that same person in King County could purchase a similar Premera plan with a lower deductible at a rate of $276 — a decrease of 15 percent.

BOTTOM LINE: Obamacare is working. And with 24 million Americans expected to gain coverage through the marketplaces by 2016, that’s great news for Americans’ pocketbooks — as well as their health. It’s time Republicans do their job and make sure their constituents get coverage and the benefits from Obamacare, instead of doing everything in their power to take away those benefits from their constituents.

Okay sports fans here is the ammo we all need to fight the revisionist bullsh*t of the GOP……..make good use of the information at hand………we can beat the pants off the Right when armed with facts…..you have your facts…..GET BUSY!

  1. Sorry to disappoint you, but cherry picking a couple of instances does not make a success. I can tell you that I personally will see financial hardship because of Obamacare. I fall in the income range of I make too much for all the government hand outs but I don’t make enough to absorb the new costs, I am looking at getting a second job just to cover the cost of the mandate, and that means time I won’t have to spend with my kids as they are going through their teen age years.

No matter how much smoke you try to blow on this one the truth is the truth. Lower middle class families are going to get hurt by this program.

    1. What I feel sorrow for is that the the families that everyone pretends to be so concerned over will most likely lose out completely…..any help whether isolated or not is helping……concern over the mandate is just another way of pretending…..rgw only smoke arise is from the Right and their paranoia that something good will happen and it will not play well for them in campaigns….

      1. If you took off your blinders you would see that I am only doing simple math and the math of the ACA will not add up for my family, and several others that I know of personally. No matter how much you try to ignore the facts, the fact is that my family will be hurt by this legislation, do you not care about the lives of my children?

      2. Apparently, we use two different maths….but that is to be expected….let me ask FL…..if conservs successfully kill Obamacare what is their answer to the health problem? Please there has to be more than some Health Care Savings Account, right?

      3. lobotero, there is too much wrong with the healthcare industry that no matter which politician it is they will make it worst. My recommendation is to remove as much subsidies from the industry as possible and remove restrictions on coverage. Everything is better with less government intervention.

I would like to point out I said LESS and not NONE. Before some cry anarchy, please look up the definition of LESS. Thank you.

    2. FL, if Obama cured cancer today you’d be accusing him tomorrow of conducting a war against obstetricians.

I hope you realise how pathetic, bitter and small-minded you and your fellow Teabilly right wing lunatics appear to everyone in the outside world.

      1. Why are you so hateful John? What comment have I made that makes you believe I hate President Obama?

      2. Comment”s”… every single one.

I don’t hate, but i do loathe the anti-science, anti-women, anti-environment, anti-education lunatic far right in the US, of which you are a card holding member.

      3. I guess there is nothing left to discuss with you john, you already have your narrow mind made up.

      4. Discussing anything with a Teabilly like yourself is already pointless. Just go and buy your Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin books, listen to your Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck and do please just leave everyone else alone. Your kind of “stupid” shouldn’t be heard.

    3. Well FL, then perhaps you would be for a Medicare-for-all plan. You’re sure as hell not going to get any health care reform from the private sector so why not pay a smaller amount in taxes for a medicare plan than those higher premiums and deductibles your paying the private sector?

      1. I was doing fine with my current medical plan, no need for some federal bureaucrat to get involved. Besides, if I wanted a single payer system there are other places I could live to get that. I choose to live in America where I have choices.

      2. FL, the problem as I see it is that not everyone in this country is lucky enough to have that choice….I applaud anyone who tries to find an answer to our pressing health problems….I do not agree with Obamacare but at least someone tried…..

      3. but that’s like saying you would be fine with burning your house down to kill a spider. It may not be the best solution to the problem, but at least you tried. Some “solutions” are worst than the problems.

      4. FL, I see where you are coming from and may I saw a bit extreme as an example…but I get it. The problem is everyone sees the problem but few want to do anything about it……choice is a good line but there are few without the chance…..we could always point at Medicaid but there are stipulations not everyone poor can get it…..I still contend that one can hate the solution but offer an alternative….and if it does more good I will chamlion it here on my site….so far there has not been anything except some health savings account….and that does NO one any good with the exception of brokers they will make out like bandits….

  2. It is a great article you have written here and much needed.

I know Obama Care is already helping millions of people save money on prescriptions and allowing their children to stay on parental insurance – – and some other things – – – and I am afraid that because of the fog generated by the right wing anti-obama machine a lot of Americans are still in the dark on much of the potential benefits of this great social program.

It is good that you have shed some light on this for everyone – – – of course the “objectors” will always dream up ways to argue but their arguments are – – – for the most part – – – smoke and mirrors and tend to drift with the “Party Line.”

It is time Americans were able to afford to go see a doctor!

I think those who think they are inconvenienced by affordable health care ought to just shut their complaining mouths and use some of that good old Right Wing “Self-Sufficiency” and “Self-Reliance” and go out and “Build” something “With their own two hands without any help from anybody” and bring their financial situation up to where it needs to be so they can participate in America – – still enjoy the comforts of having more than most people – – and get with the program!
