I wanted to give my take on the convention but I was unable to watch it live thanx to my old friend Isaac…..so I am watching YouTube and other sources to see what was said…….I apologize for the delay.
I see that the enthusiasm was not dampened by the rain from Issac….all the usual suspects were there….Rove, Nordquist, Boehner, Rice, Huckabee, Rubio, et al and of course they all had much to say……I was waiting for the convention to see if they defined themselves more clearly than they have in the last 8 months to a year…..I was disappointed. I heard nothing of a clear cut plan to save the country other than Obama sucks….not in so many words but the implication cannot be ignored.
Speaker after speaker….told the people the same tired lines but NO clear path to recovery….not Boehner nor Ryan nor Christie (I was waiting to see just how long he could pat himself on the back) nor well, pick one….nothing has changed…..there was no explanation of what their policies are….they just keep hammering Obama and the Dems and saying “trust us”…..basically we will tell you all after we are elected……I will say that Ryan was a bit excellent on his presentation, but it sounded a lot like Ayn Rand, to me………you guys, the conservs, may think this is a good idea….but I want answers not promises…..while I agree that Obama may suck….it is not a platform that is for winners…….
I will say that the bright spot was Mrs. Mitt……she was animated and straight forward (by the way she used a teleprompter and I thought those were not allowed in politicians)….she had a compelling story to tell…..the problem is….I am glad the she has a good marriage and some great kids…..but I DO NOT vote for them….I personally, do not care about her private life or that of her sons…..I want problems addressed….because Mitt is a Helluva guy at home does NOT make him good presidential candidate….
Then there is Mitt’s acceptance speech….this was his chance to re-introduce himself and define his candidacy……his speech had something for everybody, kinda like his candidacy, he had the warm and fuzzy…..something for birthers, neo-cons, war hawks, evangelicals…..so did we learn anything new about Mitt? Not really….the same vague promises and the main plank of his candidacy….Obama Sucks!
I see that we still cannot talk about taxes or Bain or Governorship or religion……..but it is clear that everyone in Tampa feels the same as Mitt….OBAMA SUCKS!
All in all from what I watched I would say that nothing new is out there and Mitt is still an empty suit that has nothing to offer but…..Obama Sucks!
It’s hard to cover your tracks and to put lipstick on a pig but they are trying.
Larry you know the old saying….”when you try to put lipstick on a pig….you waste your time and piss off the pig”……a paraphrase of something my grandfather use to say….
The viewership was way down. Even with out Issac, the audience would have been smaller. I tried to watch it but it didn’t hold my interest like conventions did in the past. The far right GOP has been running for president since 2006 and it seems we have not had a break from that. I think I am suffering from GOP over load and too much bullying from them. There was nothing new or any real ideas to think about.
I like the fact that the fact checking started moments after anything was said….so far they LIED! Go figure!
There was a tweet posted on Daily Kos live wire during Ryan’s speech that just had me laughing for days. Ten minutes into his speech one of the fact checking outfits tweeted that their “fact checkers had already hung themselves.” We will have to see if they get following the convention it’s dead cat bounce from all their efforts next week.
They will probably get a small bounce but Isaac and lies will be the main story, IMO….
Romney is about as animated as a scare crow in an Iowa cornfield. And no, I did not watch any of it.
Did you watch the Wizard of Oz? LOL
Yes I did, which was back during the Eisenhower era. 🙂
