Anyone who reads my posts know that I hate it when some on the Right or Left uses socialism to describe the US policies……I have tried to explain that yes there are some socialistic policies in place…but that does not mean that it is rampant socialism….that whole conversation is there to create fear…yes FEAR! And is its only function…..like I have said….I try to explain it as best I can without having my head explode…..and I found a good video that does it admirably……
Lawrence O’Donnell has worked in the Senate and has a grasp of the games being play and his definition or explanation, if you will is very good……please read it and learn….thanx!
A southern ignorant definition of socialism:
I actually had a employee at work say that he was sick of how America is going socialist. When I asked what he meant he said ” you know like pro abortion, and banning God, and taking our money”

Yes, Phillip – THAT describes the problem Chuq is highlighting precisely and it IS a major problem for you guys.
However, I do also understand the other side of the coin to some extent too. Socialism (in its more rabib forms at least), JUST LIKE FASCISM, can and often is a sort of creeping cancer in a society… THAT in my opinion is because the people who deserve to gain from the system (and thought they would) are very rarely the ones who actually get anything out of it at all.
The problem, I think, with socialism is that it requires VAST legislation and bureaucracy to impliment and describe it and those are VERY blunt and stupid instruments. Likewise, the mirror image of socialism, fascism, relies largely on draconian minimal legislation the interpretation of which changes almost hourly to suit no one except authority.
The REAL way forward is somewhere in the middle, but that will only EVER be possible if we can design a whole new system that is completely self regulating, ALWAYS works according to the basic rules of simple common sense and is largely inviolable by the elite and the criminals and wasters alike.
That should be easy then… what shall we do AFTER lunch? 😆
