Time grows near! Under normal conditions we would be talking about the field as it was developing but the 2012 election is fast approaching and so far NOT a single Repub has declared that he/she will run for the GOP nomination….why?What are all these bravely talking and condemning people afraid of that they have to wait….and wait….and wait?
This occurrence has NOT been lost on conserv reporters and journalist and one of the most conserv writers, George Will has made an interesting observation…..
George Will argues that credible Republican presidential candidates will be hurt by “a process cluttered with careless, delusional, egomaniacal, spotlight-chasing candidates to whom the sensible American majority would never entrust a lemonade stand, much less nuclear weapons.”
“If pessimism is not creeping on little cat’s feet into Republicans’ thinking about their 2012 presidential prospects, that is another reason for pessimism. This is because it indicates they do not understand that sensible Americans, who pay scant attention to presidential politics at this point in the electoral cycle, must nevertheless be detecting vibrations of weirdness emanating from people associated with the party.”
The ones seeking the spotlight more than others, Palin, Newt and Trump, keep teasing the people and the media about their possible run…..but that is all that it is…a tease…..Palin is not smart enough…..Newt has too much baggage and Trump is too weird…and then there is Huckabee…..maybe a possibility but for one thing….he cannot raise enough cash to win……
And then there are those just riding the media gravy train…..Pawlenty, Romney and Daniels…..they may be serious about the nomination but are being way too cautious…..and then there is that dude, Huntsman…..who? Exactly, he needs to hurry up and start a campaign of name recognition or he will be another also ran…..
All in all about the only two that I would give a shot at the nomination is Pawlenty and Romney……of those two Romney looks the best shot….but then he has a religious problem that could hamper his bid…that brings us back to Pawlenty….snooze…this man will say whatever it takes to win his recognition and that could be a problem for the traditional Repubs…..so where does that leave the GOP field for 2012?
Up the proverbial creek without a paddle! If you are a conserv then you are probably worried about the choice that will be made…..you should be! You guys have NOTHING in the way of a winner at this juncture of the political saga……
Mark this day. Right now they are cautious and friendly. A year from now they will be lying about each other, running false info ads, character assasination and so on and so on. Ah primary season, 2nd only to march madness.
They are already lying…but I know what you mean and I personally look forward to the assassinations of their character….because most of them have NO character….
A good post, I’m sure, but I have to ask – how is this surprising under a system that does NOTHING to encourage decent, considerate and altruistic people to take part? In fact, it actively discourages them!
Well we usuyally have at least one adult….someone who has good principles, but NO chance of election….the GOP so far has nada!
Ah, well – I wouldn’t really know that – but then, as you say: “with no chance of election”… Says it all really.
But with the lunacy of the voter anything is possible….and that is the scary part………..
