Does This Sound Racist?

Mark Williams a pundit for the Tea Party, or at least one of its factions, wrote this “pretend” letter, as if it was a slave writing to Pres. Lincoln—this is Mr. Williams response to the NAACP’s call for the Tea Party to condemn its racist factions…….do you find the humor?

Dear Mr. Lincoln

We [National Association for the Advancement of] Colored People have taken a vote and decided that we don’t cotton to that whole emancipation thing.  Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards.  That is just far too much to ask of us [National Association for the Advancement of] Colored People and we demand that it stop!

In fact we held a big meeting and took a vote in Kansas City this week.  We voted to condemn a political revival of that old abolitionist spirit called the ‘tea party movement’.

The tea party position to “end the bailouts” for example is just silly.  Bailouts are just big money welfare and isn’t that what we want all [National Association for the Advancement of] Colored People to strive for?  What kind of racist would want to end big money welfare?  What they need to do is start handing the bail outs directly to us [National Association for the Advancement of] Colored People!  Of course, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is the only responsible party that should be granted the right to disperse the funds.

And the ridiculous idea of “reduce[ing] the size and intrusiveness of government.”  What kind of world would we have is I  ever  to control and be responsible for my life own?  As [National Association for the Advancement of] Colored People we must have somebody care for us otherwise we would be on our own, have to think for ourselves and make decisions and if you do not agree than there is not enough Colored in your People, as we labeled Ken Gladney

The racist tea parties also demand that the government “stop the out of control spending.”  Again, they directly target [National Association for the Advancement of] Colored People.  That means we [National Association for the Advancement of] Colored People would have to compete for jobs like everybody else and that is just not right.

Perhaps the most racist point of all in the tea parties is their demand that government “stop raising our taxes.”  That is outrageous!    Totally racist!  The tea party expects [National Association for the Advancement of] Colored People to be productive members of society, especially when our mission is to convince them that progress is impossible for them based on the color of their skin?

Mr. Lincoln, you were the greatest racist ever.  We had a great gig.  Three squares, room and board, all our decisions made by someone else.  Please repeal the 13th and 14th Amendments and let us get back to where we say that belong.

Sincerely

Ben Jealous, Tom’s Nephew  National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Head Colored Person

This is Mr. Williams response to the NAACP for their vote…..in humor it is a letter “found” from a “colored” person to Pres. Lincoln…..the humor escapes me!

Mr. Williams has vehemently denied that there are NO racist in the Tea Party…..I posted this from his website in case it disappeared in the future….you decide……

So does it sound racist to you?

  1. Yes, it kind of does to me – but then I think there may at some levels be some elements of truth in it, which is why I can’t see it as funny. Then again, I frequently don’t understand American humour, so there’s no surprise in that!

I think the scariest thing it indicates is that ordinary white Americans are totally unaware that they too are slaves and always have been.

Virtually ALL great civilisations have been founded (and have flourished) based on slavery. In a modern democracy it is cleverly disguised, but it’s still there and it’s still slavery. All but the very top echelons of the corporate jungle are slaves in a way and – in fact – possibly all but the top few unseen masters in the world may be said to be slaves in one form or another – IF you believe in the conspiracy theories that abound. Personally, I think there is a fine line between the needs of living and survival and the utter subjugation of slavery and it may be that the real test is how a person came to wear the shackles they do…

If a person is deliberately trapped and physically forced to do the bidding of another on pain of death of serious injury, then that is slavery and we all know that goes on in most countries of the world – not least the girls who are brought from poorer societies and used as sex slaves by organised crime and even some wealthy individuals. However, there is another form of entrapment and subjugation that is just as much slavery as anything as blatant as that…

…and that is called advertising. I know that sounds fanciful and somewhat paranoid, but unmanageable debt IS a form of slavery and many, many people are born into that and remain trapped in it for their whole lives. Brain-washing the poorer people of a whole nation (or nations) into the idea that they NEED all the modern gizmos and gadgets and that life will somehow become perfect when they buy them now and pay for them later is not just a lie, it IS a form of entrapment and once caught, most people are quite unable to extricate themselves from the ever tightening bonds of huge and unmanageable debt. It’s a vicious circle – and I DO mean VICIOUS! (Witness to that is the American system of “pay-day loans” – which I find disgusting!)

    👿

    1. Yep…but try to explain a wage slave to a wage slave….virtually impossible without them calling you a commie for what you say…..

This guy in the post was the one that stated that there were NO racist in the Tea Party and then he writes this piece of crap……I decided to post the whole thing in case he decided and took it off his site…..plausible deniability ….if that is a term…….

The Pay day Loans thing is huge business in the States along with auto title loans….many people get screwed hard by this practice….

      1. True – though as you know there’s noth the tiniest bit “commie” about me – the opposite if anything.

I just think that the whole thing amounts to a plot by the corporations to entrap people into being totally dependent on “the system” – because they own that system.

Gordon Brown’s version in the UK was the same thing except that it was approached from the opposite direction, but it still amounts to slavery.

  2. Not sure if I would call it racist but certainly gets close to that fine line. It clearly is bigoted though; in particular this “Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us”.

    1. Terrant: Yes indeed – when did the big corporations like the swindlers in the banks last have to “take consequences along with the rewards”?

      1. Huh? Holding our wealthy elite to the same standards as us serfs? That is just crazy talk. 😈

      2. That’s what the man is suggesting (though he didn’t mean to I’m sure) 😆

      3. I see that Mark Williams and his Tea Party Express have been thrown out of the movement because of the letter in this post…..thinking……was not Ms Palin involved in this group? Just wondering…..
