SHHH! It’s The Food Police

Daily Agitator

Maybe I should have titled this “How to fight the FAT””?

Daily we hear or see the studies that say just how obese the American people are…..and daily we hear this pundit or that rant and rave about overweight kids and adults…just how disgusting it is and a drag on the society….and they preach something has GOT to be done to stem this rising tide…..and then they go on to the regulation of salt or fat or sugar or……everything they find objectionable….

They find objectionable?  They?  Who the Hell are they?  Mostly they are people that make plenty of cash and have plenty of leisurely time on their hands….meaning they can afford the more expensive “healthy alternatives” and they have the time to play in a gym or run in the street and block traffic……unfortunately, most working people are not so lucky, they struggle with money and they have zero leisure time….

First of all, in a restaurant it is a choice of the people what they will eat and if they like a burger with bacon and lots of blue cheese then who the Hell are they to tell them it is not good to eat this?  Sorry, for now I still have free choice after that they can kiss my ass.

These self-centered people also support lower healthier food in schools, low fat, less salt and sugar free……a noble concern….but what about when they go home?  We all know the dangers of high sugar, high fat and high salt, or at least we should.

For all those bleeding heart dietary freaks…….most people that are obese are poor….they are poor because they have NO money……they buy what stretches the food budget the best….that means high fat, high sugar because those foods are the cheapest.  No matter what you try to do in schools or restaurants…they will go home and eat the foods that you are bitching about…..why?  They are poor!

Okay……you are on your high horse about the high fat, high sugar and high salt diets of people…here is an idea!  Make healthy eating less expensive and poor people would be eating more healthier…..the whole population would eat better…and is not the idea you originally started with?

But you will not….you will spend all your time and effort talking about the habits of obese people and their children….you will condemn and ridicule….instead of facing reality and attacking the real reason cause of obesity….POVERTY!

  1. I agree entirely with 80% of that. However, the cause of obesity is NOT poverty and never has been – it is IMO 100% caused by modern lifestyles and modern attitudes to living in the West – end of!

    1. See we can disagree….LOL

I have worked with the poor and find that they have horrible eating habits because they must stretch the dollar of the food budget and the kids grow up thinking high fat, high sugar and salt are the norms…..at everyone but poverty plays a big part in it especially here in the South….

      1. Sorry, there are just as many fat people amongst rich as poor. These days some better off ahve started to take the message on board and are working to inprove, but it doesn’t have to take money – it needs time and effort and, trust me, the poor have just as much of that available as rich ones – perhaps more so.

It’s not the whole answer, of couse, but the fact is that much of it’s a case of: turn the f*cking TV off and go out and get a life, however little money you have – simple and in most cases effective!

      2. TRue…I am not syaing that only poor people are fat…that it plays a major role in the eating habits and what is bought with a shrinking dollar……

      3. I personally think that, whilst small incomes make it harder to think of what is healthy, the real problem is our modern attitudes and lifestyles that are at fault. I don’t believe that eating burgers (for instance) is what makes people fat. What makes them overweight is that kids no longer play in the streets or outdoors. but sit in front of the TV or computer screen and eat candy and convenient crap their forefathers couldn’t even afford!

Nowadays we tend to insist that children must “have their childhood” like it’s something sacred, be kept safe from dirt and other dangers and mustn’t be asked to face the real adult world. Well, I personally think that we are literally KILLING our children with this attitude…

When kids had to get off their butts and work with the rest of the family and ate what Mother cooked and, if they did get to play, it was outdoors, they occasionally got scrapes and knocks and swallowed dirt and they DIDN’T get FAT and they DIDN’T get all these bloody allergies they suffer from today. Even according to medics, our homes are just too bloody safe and clean today and our kids don’t run around and physically work enough.

That to my mind is not the whole story, but it DOES very clearly point to the REAL problems that current generations and those yet to come face. IMO supermarkets are bad for people and bad for the economy and TV, far from being the exciting new media it should have been, is in so many different ways one of the worst things to happen to the human race during the twentieth century!

      4. Being an old fart…I must agree with you on the points you have made…..we can debate the causes of childhood obesity, but your point makes it all that more simple…….today’s world especially the US and quite possibly the UK, make children and people what they are…FAT!
