Rand Paul, Electoral Surprise?

Not really!

But in case you have been asleep after eating a drugged apple, let me refresh your memory…..just two days ago the son of Rep. Ron Paul won the Repub nomination for the senate seat in Kentucky after beating the fav of the GOP…this in a state that the Senate Minority leader is from and endorsed the other candidate……it was big news that he went against the established leadership of the Party and won the nomination……

But that is NOT the surprise!

Just hours after his win he had a couple of interviews and was asked if he believed segregation was okay in the private sector…..basically, he said it was fine if a privately owned company wanted to discriminate and that it was none of the governments business (I am paraphrasing)….

Immediately the media was all a gaga at his answer…they were caught by surprise….instantaneously they began to condemn him for his beliefs and saying that he needs to get out in front of the story…..

They were surprised!

(Thinking…..thinking……thinking…..)  What part of Libertarian do they NOT understand?  Do any of these “well informed” journalist ever pay attention to what is going on around them?  Where is the surprise?

Rand Paul is a Libertarian!  While there are some of their positions that I can agree with, most notably….anti-war, anti_IRS and anti Federal Reserve…..but that is where I cease to agree with them……other beliefs, of which there are many, that I cannot understand is their belief that capitalism will end racism or that capitalism will end poverty or CEOs deserve their massive bonuses or cheap imports do NOT destroy American jobs……just a few of the beliefs that I have a problem with….

Rand Paul is a Libertarian and he believes in some if not ALL of the things that I mentioned……So where is the surprise?  I am NOT surprised in the least…and the morons making the big bucks should be less surprised than me…..But then I do not search for a sound bite on which to make a story…..

  1. Well, there are lots of things there that I’d love to take you to task on, but we’d need a whole other blog.

However, whilst I don’t agree with racism or segregation of any sort, I don’t see why a private company shouldn’t practise it on private premises such as in a club – just as I don’t see why you shouldn’t have all male clubs (that are illegal in the UK).

Frankly, I’d rather be in a club where there are plently of women, but I suppose that is not only a highly personal view, but probably somehow sexist too!

How long I wonder before not only are gay rights protected (with which I have NO arument at all) but it’s actually illegal to try to figure out if your intended is a man or a woman until the wedding night (ladyboys of the far east rejoice!)?

Do you think slobs, murderers, assholes, thieves, pedofiles, rapists and straightforward bastards will all be protected groups in the future?

    1. Like I said there are some things that I like about Libertarianism…..and a bunch I do not like or agree with in any way. Since my political beliefs are kinda bastardized I have been called a “Left libertarian”. From my tweets…..

Not all Libertarians are the same http://bit.ly/9vp7jg or http://bit.ly/a1tCLn

      1. It’s the problem of trying to apply labels to people – doesn’t work!

      2. If we are talking about the Libertarian…then I would say that it applies…he sounds very much like the Libertarian that his father and he are…..

      3. I don’t think I entirely agree with you – there are few people in the world, let alone in politics who consistently stick to being what others label them – for instance Ann Coulter in your latest post 😆

      4. True that…but Libertarians normally hold the same their lassiez=faire, anti government, Anti-Fed, anti=IRS and other sticking points. But like I say I have been called many things….but I stick to my core beliefs…if you want services then you pay, no war of intervention, inclusive democracy, health care and education just to mention a few and I still like the LVT.

But Paul is an idiot…he should be off the TV and stick to Kentucky issues…..he just keeps kicking himself in the nuts….
