On Day one the GOP has been playing the partisan card, the dipsticks started early in the Obamna admin and it could quite possibly come back and bite them in the ass. The BS antics like those of Vitter and De mint on the confirmation of Clinton as Secretary of State was nothing but a pad to their resumes for the next political cycle.
The last national election has shown just how out of touch the GOP is with the American people, that is basically been reduced to a Southern, rural regional party of white people and these type of antics against a popular president is not helping them find a new direction and a new hook for support. If Obama stays calm and cool as he has in the past, then this could alienate the GOP even further from the peoplke and give the Libertarian Party a shot in the butt and make them more mainstream.
The partisanship game that the GOP is starting to play is a dangerous one at this time. Look at Rush, his lame ass comments on Obama h is costing him markets and listeners. If the GOP wants to find a new direction and a new voice for the party then they need to tread very lightly in these early days of the new adminstration or they could quite possibly be lost to history. (We can only hope.)
I guess after 8 years of partishanship, now it is the Dems that get to know what it is like, huh?
The GOP didn’t lose because they were out of touch with Americans, they lost because they were out of touch with their principles. The Democrats will lose in two years when the American people begin to see exactly what their “principles” are. Welcome to socialism
Hello DC and thanx for the swing by..I appreciate any and all comments….I have to disagree with you a bit…Obama is NO socialist, just look at his picks ..none of them are anywhere near the Left…..his stimulus does more for business than it does for the people so I cannot see where anyone would think that creeping socialism is approaching…if anything it is a centrist admin.

his picks include Tom Daschle, Hillary Clinton, Leon Panetta, and Carol Browner. Carol Browner is, or at least until she was picked as the Climate Change Czar was, a member of the International Socialist Association, I believe she was also a member of the Democratic Socialists Association. Daschle, Clinton, and Panetta are all more left than not.
His economic stimulus package gives control of these financial istitutions to the government. If you consider Rep. Shiela Jackson Lee’s comments about nationalizing the oil industry, the plan of nationalizing health care, and talk of openly nationalizing health care one can only come to the conclussion that Obama is definately a socialist with a socialist agenda. I would suggest that people look at his deeds rather than listen to what he says.

i still do not see these people as socialists, the DSA are just left leaning Dems. Clinton is a DLC member they are not socialists they are capitalists from the word go. I will, agree that some of his minor appointees are left leaning but that was more to placate his primary base than to bring about a socialist agenda. Health care will be a mandate not universal…..banks will be regulated not nationalized……the socialist agenda that some are afraid of is not there.

I hope you are right, but I genuinely think you are wrong. From what I see of his picks, with the exception of Robert Gates, they are far left socialists. The DSA members are more than merely “left leaning.” According to http://www.dsausa.org the DSA is the “largest socialist organization in the United States, and the principle US affiliate of the Socialist International.”
Regarding universal health care, it is actually “universal” healthcare, it will be mandated in that we will all be required to participate. It is hinted at in his economic stimulus package when he wants to provide for increasing funding for training new health care workers to “prepare for universal health care.”
It is the Democrats themselves calling for the banks to be nationalized, even under Bush’s plan there was some nationalization which I disagreed with when Congress came away with preferred stocks of the banks that took the money, even though several banks such as Wells Fargo were required to accept government money that they did not want or need.
The socialist agenda is there, it can only be brought to fruitition if the American people sit blindly by and allow it, unfortunately, nobody pays attention to what Government is doing and even fewer let Government know that we are watching
The socialist that some fear these days are ballot box socialist, they are far cry from the socialist of old and there is no way the American people will vote for “real” socialism. I have been watch and participating in the electoral process for way too long and have heard all this socialist rhetoric over and over and it has never been realized, it will not be this time either.
As far as the DSA, anytime socialist bow to the will of capitalists then they have lost there claim to the mantle of “socialist”….DSA gave up the mantle many years ago…they are in name only.

The Republican party is practically on life support these days. Further partisan attacks will do nothing but to put the dirt in the grave faster. If the Republican Party wants to survive, they are going to need to understand that the Trotskyites, Theoconservatives and Neoconservatives are the cancer that is killing them. Paleoconservatism and classical Liberalism is where the party is going to have to go in order to re-invent itself if it wants to remain relevant.

unfortunately for conservatives, that is where the Ruplican party is going, that is why they lost the last two elections so badly, they got away from their principles of small government, limited spending and low taxes. What they need to do is get back to their basic principles.
Lobo, I’ll agree that almost no American would vote for socialism knowingly, but it isn’t coming outright, it is being brought on incrementally. People won’t even realize what is happening until after it has happened.
I also see where the concern comes from, but then I ask in the present condition of the economy where can we turn to pull ourselves out?

That’s why they need to embrance the the classical liberalism philosophy that our country is founded upon. Otherwise, the Republican Party needs to burn. Another party will rise from its ashes that will fall more in-line with the desires of the people.
The only small issue I have with your response – and its verbage but means a lot – is your choice of using “small government”. Small government can be just as oppressive as large government if not more in some cases. Limited government – government that has defined boundaries and adheres to those boundaries – serves the purpose of serving the public good while respecting individual rights.

That’s the big money question and the reality of the situation is when confidence is restored back into the marketplace through full transparency; when all the toxic debt is marked to market; when the companies that made these investments will have to write them off the books at a loss; when those companies that are guilty of such reckless abandonment are allowed to die. Only then will things start to make the upturn.
Otherwise, the debt deflation spiral is going to continue and the world will see a global economic Lost Decade. Ask the Japanese how well that worked out for them…

Because most Americans are still lazy and ignorant when it comes to civics/economics while hoping for a new “get rick quick” scheme to come around to make their Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous dreams come true…that’s why there is no outrage…and that’s why until the populace smartens up, this kind of crap will continue to perpetuate ad-infinitum…

Wookie, I’ll agree that I should have said limited government, but I fail to see where there were any liberal philosophy in the founding fathers, they believed in people being self-sufficient. Liberalsim leads to government dependency rather than self-sufficiency.
Lobo, we need to turn to individuals, not to the government, everything that Obama is proposing has been tried before with FDR and Wilson. It just dragged the depression on longer than necessary, and that was at a time when people still believed in doing things for themselves.
