Another Lost City Found!

I am always interested in the Maya and their culture……after visiting several sites in Mexico I have become impressed with what man could accomplish with a string and a stick……

Newser) – Just a week after news broke of a “lost city” discovered in Cambodia, archaeologists have uncovered an ancient Mayan city among the dense foliage of the Mexican jungle. The team has dubbed it Chactun (meaning red or large rock), and says it’s one of the largest to be found in the Yucatan’s central lowlands. The numbers behind that claim: The 54-acre site would have once housed as many as 40,000 people, and evidence of 15 pyramids—one 75 feet tall—has been identified there. But the ruins don’t end with those structures, LiveScience reports.

The remains of plazas, homes, altars, inscribed stone slabs, and ball courts were found; the ball courts in particular indicate it was a prominent city, though one that met its end around 1000 AD, the team leader tells Reuters. The search team first stumbled upon Chactun by way of aerial photographs taken 15 years ago; hacking their way through 10 miles of jungle took three weeks. The archaeologists spent six weeks exploring its secrets, and hope the find will offer clues on relationships between Maya cities—the closest known was 16 miles away.

I keep hoping that eventually find more codices that will expand our knowledge of the Mayan culture….we have lost so much because of idiots priests and their devil worship bullsh*t.

It is Sunday and time for some of that Old time religion!

In a little over one month the world will END!   That is if you are a believer of the prophecy of the Maya….on 21 Dec 2012 their long count calendar will end…..signalling the end of the world as we know it……or it could, in my opinion, mean that the Maya need to go out and buy a new calendar…….but anyway if it does end, who will be redeemed or who will be raptured out?

No matter how much you’ve sinned over the years, you can buy just one coupon for yourself, but you can get as many as you want to have your loved-ones’ sins forgiven as well. According to Lifenews.ru, the organizers of this bizarre campaign believe the number of sold coupons will be in the millions, but with 37 days to go to expiry, only 110 people have bough the discounted indulgence vouchers. That’s right, 110 people believe paying $15 for a coupon will open their way into Heaven.

Here’s how the description of the offer sounds: According to predictions, our world is coming at an end. But we should not be sad. The Catholic Church of Assisi, in the Italian region of Umbria, in the province of Perugia, on the southern slope of Mount Subasio, high above the picturesque confluence or the rivers Tiber and Chiascio, is organizing the forgiveness of your sins. In this grey, depressing time it gives us all a wonderful gift – an astounding 50% discount on personal indulgence. What is indulgence? It’s the first step on the path to God. (I’m not a Russian speaker, but this what I could make out using Google Translate).

Apparently the first step to having your sins forgiven through indulgences is doing good, so all the proceeds from buying these coupons will go to charity. The number of personal indulgences is limited, so go on “Take care of your soul!”

Just send in your cash and wait for the end………your redemption is at hand……

The End Draws Near!

It is the weekend once again and I can put all the bovine fecal matter (politics) behind for my usual 2 day break….last weekend my post on cavemen got a lot of attention, just wish all post were that good at producing comments, but I digress…..this Saturday I will post yet another controversial issue……this just sucks…if it happens!

We all have heard the predictions of the rapture or the end of the world or Ragnarook or whatever you want to call it…..we have had numerous prophets down through the ages predicting the end….fortunately most of them were idiots and self-serving little toads and were just playing to the base and their fears…and then we have those darn Maya……..,at least they were specific in their prediction…..21 December 2012….and oh boy has that let a can of worms out ….movies….books…TV shows…….everybody trying to cash in on the end of the world….and some doing damn well in making a profit off the story line……

But were the Maya the geniuses that they are portrayed?  Well they did build some massive pyramids without math or the use of fancy instruments…I mean Hell they did not even use the wheel….but they built massive cities and structures with a stick and string….that pretty much makes them geniuses in my book…..but what about this damn silly notion of the end of the world on 21 December 2012….come on…no one is that accurate in a prediction…right?

Experts on the sun are very concerned as they see the sun awaking from its unusually long slumber with a violence unseen for generations. That violence could be in the form of mammoth magnetic storms. Those storms hitting the Earth will be like a giant’s fist slamming into the fragile electronic technology that runs the world. Hurricanes, earthquakes and tsunamis pale by comparison.

“We know it is coming but we don’t know how bad it is going to be,” Dr Richard Fisher, the director of NASA’s Heliophysics division, said in an interview with The Daily Telegraph. “It will disrupt communication devices such as satellites and car navigation, air travel, the banking system, our computers, everything that is electronic. It will cause major problems for the world. “

During a solar superstorm most communication will be blasted out of existence; power will fail. Cities will be left without light and water and food will run out. Civil unrest will surge as society collapses in a matter of days. The US federal and state governments will be hard-pressed to restore order amongst 300 million people as mass starvation sets in and sources of fresh water dwindle.

One billion could die

Restoration of the infrastructure could take years—even a decade or more. During the interim more than a billion people could die worldwide—more if warfare breaks out between countries desperate for scarce resources.World renown American astrophysicist Dr. Michio Kaku, Professor of Theoretical Physics in the City College of New York of City University of New York and the co-founder of string field theory, is worried about a potential catastrophe and has joined in NASA’s warning.

Appearing recently on FoxNews, Kaku said, “We’re talking about a potential Katrina from space.”

But Kaku sees the disaster as 10 times greater than Katrina-perhaps even worse than that. “We’d be thrown 100 years into the past,” he explained. The transition to the 1800s would occur as quickly as flipping a light switch off.

Geez…looks like the Maya were not the backward barbarians that we were taught….it may not be the end of the world….but it could seem like it if all electronics goes down……people would kill themselves without their iPad, iPod and i Phone……

People might want to pay attention……things could get pretty dicey in 2012….may not be on the exact date as predicted…..but damn close and from a people that did not use the wheel…..
