Iran: Let’s Make A Deal–Part 2

Holy crap!  As I was listening to foreign news I was completely awaken by the announcement that a deal has been made between P5+1 and Iran on the nuke negotiations……..

After 18 days of intense and often fractious negotiation, diplomats declared today that world powers and Iran have struck a landmark deal to curb Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for billions of dollars in relief from international sanctions—an agreement designed to avert the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran and another US military intervention in the Muslim world. The accord will keep Iran from producing enough material for a nuclear weapon for at least 10 years and impose new provisions for inspections of Iranian facilities, including military sites.

The so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action was reached after more than two weeks of furious diplomacy, during which negotiators blew through three self-imposed deadlines. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and US Secretary of State John Kerry, who conducted most of the negotiations, both threatened to walk away while trading accusations of intransigence. The breakthrough came after several key compromises, diplomats say, including the continuation of a UN arms embargo on the country for up to five more years and an agreement to allow UN inspectors to press for visits to Iranian military sites as part of their monitoring duties.

Now we can have the Right go batcrap crazy!

This should move foreign policy to the forefront of the 2016 election circus for the GOP…..that way they do not have to talk about domestic problems of which they have NO answers……..

And I wait!

Do you know how long we in the US have been warned about Iran and their search for a nuke?  Decades!  That is correct we have been told that Iran is only moments away from having a nuke, mostly by Israel and most of it was LIES!

Anyway it seems that Saudi Arabia is threatening Iran with an arms race…..need I remind everyone that the AQ and ISIS bullies are basically fundamentalist from the Wahhabi strain…..and that came from Saudi Arabia…..do I need to remind Americans that the Saudi government is just as cruel and harsh as ISIS?

We may be on Saudis side in this race……letting two fundamentalists regime compete for a nuke is just f*cking silly!

All the war hawks have started circling the wagons……the spreading of fecal matter has gone into full swing…..bloggers are bat crap crazy one way of the other……

The GOP has even let the babbling buffoon of foreign policy walk to the lights…..Sen. Cotton!  He is NOT the person to lead the charge!

With all the crap being said both pro and con…..do you really have any idea what the agreement actually says?

NO?  Criticize if you must……. Read it for yourself before you think you have an answer…….then criticize from a position of knowledge….not some regurgitated crap from morons……

Is this a perfect deal?  Of course not!  But I bet that professionals will see more that is good than not……but that will not stop the war drum beaters from trotting out every mental midget they can find to try and defeat the deal……with regurgitated fecal matter.

Since the early 80’s Israel has been telling the west that Iran is from 3 months to a year away from acquiring a nuke……and for about as long there have been people telling the world that Israel is playing the west like a cheap flute…..

Clean Energy In Our Future?

We hear a lot about ‘clean’ energy….like clean coal, which is a con…….we hear about the nat gas boom as our next ‘clean’ energy…….

For decades scientist have been in pursuit of fusion nuke energy….not to be confused with what we have now which is fission energy……and that form of energy generation is anything but clean, fission that is……..there have been many failed attempts in the invention of a fusion reactor……but could all that failure be a thing of the past?

After years of frustration, scientists have finally made a breakthrough in the quest to harness the same fusion energy that powers the sun. Researchers at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory say that by pointing the world’s most powerful laser at a peppercorn-sized target, they unleashed a huge amount of energy with a fusion reaction—in effect, creating a miniature star for a split-second, the Wall Street Journal reports. The breakthrough, which follows many failed experiments, was made last fall but was only revealed this week in a study published in Nature. “For the first time anywhere, we’ve gotten more energy out of the fuel than what was put into the fuel,” says a researcher at the California laboratory, though useful levels of fusion still appear to be a long way off, NPR finds. The ultimate goal is to reach “ignition”—a self-sustaining fusion reaction that would provide the world with an almost limitless source of clean energy. A Princeton professor of astrophysical sciences compares the process to lighting a match and then igniting a pile of lumber. “They’re close to getting the match lit,” he tells the New York Times. “Which is a big step.”

Whatcha think?   Is fusion energy production only a short time away or was this just an accident that could lead nowhere?

Another Nuke Deal?

We have had to sit through the nuclear age…..we made, we dropped it and then the race was on….the USSR was next….and on came China to join the club…….then India/Pakistan……next would be North Korea….and then along came Iran, who does not have a bomb…yet….but the possibility is there and of course the world went into a deep depression because of Iran and its seeking to join the nuke club.  Much has been said, done and accused because of Iran’s desire…..

All the hoopla about Iran made this story even more bizarre, at least to me……

President Barack Obama has approved an agreement for civilian nuclear cooperation between the US and Vietnam in a sign of deepening ties between the former foes. The US and Vietnamese governments reached agreement in October. Congress now has 90 days to review it. If lawmakers do nothing, the deal will take effect. The “123 agreement,” approved by Obama on Monday, allows US firms into Vietnam’s civilian nuclear power market. Russian and Japanese companies are already planning to build reactors there. Under the US agreement, Vietnam is committing to rely on the international market for its nuclear fuel supply rather than enrich uranium or reprocess plutonium itself. Some lawmakers have expressed concern over the terms of the agreement and over Vietnam’s human rights record.

It all sounds reasonable….but is there anything reasonable in today’s world affairs?

Think about it though…….we will help Vietnam,  a communist country,  get nuke power…..am I the only one that sees a potential problem?  Think spent fuel and what it could be used for in the future if the desire is there……

Good News From Iran?

Remember the words of little Ronnie Reagan….”trust but verify”?  With that in mind……we have heard all the chatter about the deal that the US is working on with Iran over their nukes…..some see it as a good sign for diplomacy while others think it sucks…..since I have studied International Relations especially the Middle East I see it as a good sign….well maybe not a sign but a good start to the end of a major point of contention between Iran and the western powers……

Like I have told my readers I spend hours on line reading Arabic press because there are things happening there that could impact the entire world and most people do not give a sh*t until it is too late…..since my Farsi sucks and I have a magical translate button I have found some interesting info I would like to pass along…..

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif termed the situation related to the nuclear deal an “historical crossroads,” saying his country is ready and determined to make a permanent nuclear deal.

Negotiations on a nuclear pact are expected later this month, and will take place throughout the six month interim agreement, which began just over a week ago.

US officials have repeatedly downplayed the chances of a deal, and threatened war if Iran doesn’t make the deal that they don’t expect. Zarif was more upbeat about the chances, saying his country has the diplomatic good-will to make a deal now.

An interesting statement from the Iranian FM (Foreign Minister)…..if true and real then Iran is showing some adult thinking…..as opposed of the days of that short sh*t from before…..

I am optimistic…something I have not been in many years of keeping tabs on these types of situations……

I wrote a post today about the Iranian deal and the fact that Israel would do all possible to piss on the parade……so far there has not been much comment from Israel at all….and that seems odd to me…..they, Israel, has been saying that Iran is only months away from a bomb….and that has been going on since about 1980…..so why the silence now?

Stir The Scandal Pot

Have you heard about the Chris Christie thing…….(pause for thought)…….of course YOU have…….so let us move on shall we?

I see that the GOP will not let Benghazi go…there are so many things that could well be scandals but they like this one for some reason…..I have tried to help[ my conserv brethren out on several occasions……I have given them several under reported situation that could be made bigger and , in their eyes, better…..but they ignore the elephant in the room and keep chewing on a bone with NO meat…..what do I have to do to get them to pay attention?  I could invite Rush to show up here…..or dangle some red meat in front of Rancid Prius……or I got just slap Graham awake…but all that would mean that I would have to succumb to ignorance….I will NOT do that…….

That rant out of the way…I have new red meat for the right to chew on….if they can pull their heads out of Benghazi’s ass…….

(Newser) – Iran and six world powers have agreed on how to implement a nuclear deal struck in November, with its terms going into effect on Jan. 20, the Islamic Republic’s official state news agency reported today. The report from IRNA quoted Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirming the news, without offering any other details. EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton confirmed the news, reports Reuters, saying that, ” We will ask the IAEA to undertake the necessary nuclear-related monitoring and verification activities.”

The announcement comes after Araghchi said Friday that an initial agreement had been reached and all sides would respond to it by today. Under the November agreement, Iran agreed to limit its uranium enrichment to 5%—the grade commonly used to power reactors. The deal also commits Iran to stop producing 20% enriched uranium—which is only a technical step away from weapons-grade material—and to neutralize its 20% stockpile. In exchange, economic sanctions Iran faces would be eased for a period of six months. During that time, the world powers—Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia, and the US—would continue negotiations with Iran on a permanent deal. ISNA also reported today that under the terms of the deal, Iran will guarantee that it won’t try to attain nuclear arms “under any circumstance.”

Come on….you gotta admit that this is the perfect fodder for a good newsworthy scandal…….why?  You know that Israel will be working overtime to prevent this deal from succeeding…..and if the Obama admin drops another ball….this will be perfect for McCain, Graham and the rest of the Bomb Iran group to latch onto……a perfect subject for the use of ….propaganda 2.0………
