Making American (History) Great Again–Part 36

I have been giving my readers a history lesson….a good look at the history not necessarily taught in our schools and universities……that history is not as cut and dry as we are taught.

Maj. Sjursen has taken us from the early days of the republic to the present day…..this part takes us into the “forever war” years of GW Bush or Bush II….but before we get to those days I need to help a new reader get caught up with the saga so far…..

Part 1; Part 2; Part 3; Part 4; Part 5; Part 6; Part 7; Part 8; Part 9; Part 10;Part 11; Part 12; Part 13; Part 14; Part 15; Part 16; Part 17; Part 18; Part 19; Part 20; Part 21; Part 22; Part 23; Part 24; Part 25; Part 26; Part 27; Part 28; Part 29; Part 30; Part 31; Part 32; Part 33; Part 34; Part 35.

Now we are ready to take on the presidency of GW Bush…..GW….Baby Bush…..we went to war his first year in office and we have been there ever since……

George W. Bush’s presidency forever changed the lives of millions at home and around the globe. (I, as a career Army officer, was one of those impacted.) Were it not for him, there would never have been long wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The profound policy decisions of Bush prove the importance of presidential agency, the power of a single man to forever alter history. It was all rather ironic. Bush had run, in the 2000 election, on a platform of “compassionate conservatism”—a softening, of sorts, of the Republican dogma that had characterized the culture wars of the 1990s. He had even criticized the military interventionism of his predecessor, President Bill Clinton, and eschewed “nation-building” missions around the globe. Yet Bush would be one of the most zealous, and polarizing, conservatives in presidential history and would unleash American military might on an unprecedented scale. On his watch, it can be said without exaggeration, the U.S. shifted from covert to overt imperialism.

American History for Truthdiggers: Bush II and the Birth of Forever War

“These are the days that try men’s souls”….famous words by a famous writer…..we are coming to an end of this series, at least for now, what happens after GW is groundbreaking on so many levels.

Please take some time to read the series….I know it is a lot but you will learn stuff….so be smart.

Jeb And His Revisionist Theory Of History

This post kinda goes with the ‘toon I posted earlier today……

The 2016 election is gaining speed…….we have already had one debate and another is waiting for next month……we have our characters that are present in every election…..those that have ideas and those that have a big mouth and nothing else……and to my liking this election will be a foreign policy election…….the emphasis will be on how the US will interact with the rest of the world after the election…..

We have candidates that have some pretty good ideas for the international stage and then there are the others that have NOTHING or in desperate denial of past history……

The GOP has its “main tier” candidate in Jeb Bush……..and Jeb is one that is in denial of the past…….for instance the legacy of his brother, GW……..

George W. Bush left Iraq in pretty good shape, only for President Obama to mess it all up, according to Jeb Bush. The candidate, speaking at a national security forum in Iowa yesterday, continued to defend his brother’s war record, arguing that “taking out Saddam Hussein turned out to be a pretty good deal,” Bloomberg reports. He blamed the rise of ISIS on Obama’s failure to strike a deal for US troops to stay in the country after 2011 and said that under the Bush administration, the “mission was accomplished” regarding Iraq’s security. “That is a fact,” he said. “You can’t rewrite history in that regard.”

Bush said the 2007 troop surge was a courageous move but that chaos occurred when the next administration “declared success” and washed their hands of the effort, reports Politico, which notes that 17 of his 21 foreign policy advisers served under George W. Bush. The candidate, who admitted months ago that he wouldn’t have invaded Iraq knowing what we know now, said mistakes were made after the invasion and that he and his brother now believe disbanding Iraq’s military was an error. He also refused to rule out lifting Obama’s ban on torture, telling the forum he didn’t want to make a “definitive, blanket kind of statement,” the AP reports

Jeb is plugging out all the stops to protect his brother’s legacy……he is joining the likes of Dick Cheney in a revisionist theory of history……

Jeb has overlooked the fact that Saddam had stayed in power AQ would not exist in Iraq…..for he would have hunted down and eliminated anyone who threatened his authority…..and besides the invasion was GW’s idea and that alone is to blame for the vacuum in Iraq and the rise of Iran as a regional power…..

I agree with Jeb….”you cannot rewrite history in that regard”….no matter how hard Jeb tries to do so……

What Did GW Really Accomplish?

7 years after he left office there is still a debate on what he actually accomplished as president……..there are many ex-employees that are trying desperately to salvage some sort of legacy…….

Twitter brought me this ‘toon to answer the question…..I could not resist…….I am weak….Haha…….

To Spit In The Face Of Veterans (Metaphorically Speaking)

The whole nation says that it supports our vets with all their might…..a accusation that I dispute…….if they did then the government would be more responsive to the vets needs…..we as a country should to see to it.

In the past warriors were something to be held up to the highest standards….songs were written, poems recited and statues erected…..but now it is a political correct statement you make to appear we actually care…..

Yesterday while doing my normal amount of research I came across a piece that made me furious……….yes it is about VETS!

Former President George W. Bush is under fire for charging $100,000 to speak to a group of veterans wounded in a pair of wars he started when he was in office, just the latest front in a political battle over speaking fees that has hit both sides of the aisle.

Members of the Texas-based Helping a Hero charity told ABC News that Bush charged $100,000 for his 2012 speech at a charity fundraiser for veterans who lost limbs in the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars. The former president was also given use of a private jet at a cost of $20,000 and former First Lady Laura Bush was paid $50,000 to speak to the group last year.

Seriously?  I mean I am NO fan of GW but this is just tacky.  He charged these vets a fee to speak to them……he, the man would made it necessary that we need these types of charities, charged vets to speak to them.

He should be more than willing to go and speak anywhere he is needed for FREE!  Bush owes the veterans more than he could ever repay.

How can this toad look at the destruction and loss that he created and still charge these people for the glory of his presence?  Apparently some people need a refresher course in RESPECT!

Former International Court of Justice judge: Dick Cheney should face prosecution

For years now there has been a call for some in the Bush admin to face charges, criminal charges, for their actions leading up and during the most recent war being fought in the Middle East….

Most of what these people did to lead the US into another war in Iraq was criminal…..I know I am just an old radical that dislikes people that are conservative……not completely accurate but close enough for government work……

If the American people were conned into supporting a war that has cost too many American lives with NO foreseeable outcome….then those that were part of the con need to face justice……and soon!

Apology To GW

I unwittingly made today my election special……I know a bit early but what the Hell!  What is life without whimsy?

There are many that seem to think the Jeb is the man to beat in the general election in 2016…..I have my doubts…..but first my apology…….

I must be honest here…..back in the early days of the election of 2000 I was tickled by GW Bush……his antics and performance in debates and such lead me to believe he was an idiot….I thought then that he would be the perfect GOP candidate to run against Gore……for Gore would be a shoo in for the presidency…..keep in mind I was not a big fan of Clinton or Gore for that matter…..but the alternative were just to simple minded to win the election.

While researching candidates and other politicos I read up on his brother Jeb at the time was the governor of Florida…..all that I read lead me to believe that he was articulate and rather intelligent……so I was one of those that thought the wrong brother had been chosen to run….the country would be much better off with Jeb over GW……..

Fast forward to the 2016 election…..we have Jeb running for the nomination of the GOP…..and since his announcement he has made some truly bone-head decisions.  For one was the release of the e-mails as his time as governor…..the problem was he released many many of them and a good portion of them had people’s personal information in them which became public knowledge.

Then there was the gay thing passed and signed in Indiana by another GOP d/bag, Mike Pence……Jeb came out in support of the law and then after so much uproar he has to walk back his approval and :clarify” what he had said.

He then came out in support of the letter written by a mental midget Sen. Cotton of Arkansas to the leaders of Iran pretty much crapping on any nuke deal……and as usual Jeb had to walk that back also…..

All of this was just to stay in good graces with the neocon money train…….and then most recently when asked about the foreign policy of the US he has this to say……..“The basic policy should be our friends know we have their back over the long haul, and our enemies need to fear us again,” Bush said at the South Carolina GOP convention in Columbia, according to the Associated Press.

Bush added that he thought President Obama’s strategy abroad has been an “unmitigated disaster” thus far. Hillary Clinton’s would not fare much better, he said, should she get elected president in 2016.
Fear us?  So basically his foreign policy will be “do as we say or else”…..threaten the whole world to kowtow to us or be invaded or pay the consequences for their insubordination……and that is NOT a winning policy stance.
So I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to GW for thinking him stupid..  Apparently the smarter Bush did run and win the presidency.  Jeb is an idiot!  If yoiu thought that GW was easily manipulated then hang on top your cajones.
Now if you are really thinking about voting for Jeb if he is the nominee in 2016…..maybe you should ask a few questions before that…….
If Jeb wins the GOP nomination…….all I can say …….GOD HELP AMERICA!
