So This Is Christianity?

I have several readers that describe themselves as Christian……I do not doubt their commitment to a religious belief…….But I cannot understand why they feel necessary to define themselves by their religion……before someone makes an ass out of themselves by assuming that I am an atheist…..let me put your mind at ease….NO, I am not an atheist., but I might consider it if this person is an example of a Christian………

During the political season Christians come out of the woodwork to make accusations and pass on misinformation….let’s be honest….they are lying.  I find it not so funny when Christians disregard the 10 commandments at their convenience…..like the one about bearing false witness……that means LYING and some Christians do it religiously (no pun intended)…….basically, they are saying that they live by the 10 commandments from God, but only ones that they like….right?

What got me on this tear about Christians was something a good old boy from Louisiana had to say……that a/hole from Duck Dynasty, Phil Robertson……..

“I’ll make a bet with you,” Robertson told the religious gathering. “Two guys break into an atheist’s home. He has a little atheist wife and two little atheist daughters. Two guys break into his home and tie him up in a chair and gag him.”

“Then they take his two daughters in front of him and rape both of them and then shoot them, and they take his wife and then decapitate her head off in front of him,” Robertson continued, “and then they can look at him and say, ‘Isn’t it great that I don’t have to worry about being judged? Isn’t it great that there’s nothing wrong with this? There’s no right or wrong, now, is it dude?’”

He then imagined the assailants cutting off the atheist’s penis.

“Then you take a sharp knife and take his manhood and hold it in front of him and say, ‘Wouldn’t it be something if [there] was something wrong with this?’” Robertson said. “’But you’re the one who says there is no God, there’s no right, there’s no wrong, so we’re just having fun. We’re sick in the head, have a nice day.’”

He said all this at a “Prayer Breakfast” in Vero Beach…….now what kind of sick son of a bitch, especially a Christian would think like this?

If this type of thinking is Christian then count me out!

How many Christians will call this douche bag out for these statements?  It is people like this twat that give real Christians the bad names…….NO one on the Right will step up and show some balls and condemn everything this man does and stands for…..he is NO Christian……he is a thug that thinks his shit don’t stink because he is famous and uses Christianity as a cover for his hatred!

Will A&E allow this worthless lump to remain on air?

I can understand why some get turned off by religion…..I mean how can shooting girls in the face or throwing acid on them or stoning someone for a lie…..or reading some historical account that says God wants a people erased from the earth…..and then it is a demented slob like this a/hole and his hatred….all speak to religion…….sad what man has done in the name of God……he/she is ashamed of the humanity created……….I have NO use for these types and their fake religious convictions.

Come on Professor…..don’t hold back….what do you really think of these people?

The Making of a Christian Taliban in Ukraine – The Intercept

Speaking of the morality police………  (my previous post)……..

This is a story that more religious people will not pay any attention to because it does not it the paradigm that they have formulating concerning Islamic extremists……for you see Christians would not do the things that these Muslims would do…..

Take the Taliban in Afghanistan…….strict adherence to religious law…..but that could never happen with us good Christians, right?

This article needs to be read and passed on……the question needs asking….will this expand beyond Ukraine?

The Making of a Christian Taliban in Ukraine – The Intercept.

Burn Baby Burn

Since 9/11 there has been a massive attempt to demonize all Muslims for the acts of a few…….most of the demon-ization is coming from the moronic Right and some of the religious Right……we here this group of Muslims did this and that……kinda like the demon-ization of the Jews back in the 1920-30’s……

Then there are incidents like this one that is ignored…..basically because it will not fit in the stupidity they spread……

An American Christian who passed himself off as an ex-Navy SEAL faces charges in Israel of trying to blow up Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem, Israeli authorities say. Israeli police and the Justice Ministry identified the man as Adam Everett Livix, 30, from Texas. Police say he faces drug charges back in the US and that he once turned down an offer from a Palestinian to assassinate President Obama during the leader’s visit to the Holy Land in 2013. Authorities say Livix underwent a psychiatric evaluation yesterday after his indictment on charges of illegal weapon possession and overstaying his visa by more than a year.

Israeli authorities say Livix first arrived in Palestinian-administered areas of the West Bank in early 2013. An unnamed Palestinian later asked Livix to assassinate Obama with a sniper rifle during the president’s March 2013 visit to the region, an Israeli police spokesman says. Livix declined, but the FBI ended up involved in the case investigating his actions. Later that year, Livix entered Israel, the Justice Ministry says, and told Israeli friends he had strong anti-Arab sentiments. The ministry says Livix later cooperated with his roommate, a serving soldier in the Israeli military, to obtain 3 pounds of explosive material to blow up the unidentified Jerusalem holy sites in a plot that police uncovered in October.

Terrorists come in many flavors…..even Christian.

Sorry to piss on your parade …..a Christian terrorist is just as disgusting as any other…..in my eyes it is more disgusting.

Were The Founders Truly That Christian!?!

What prompted me to write this post was a recent story I saw on FOX News (I believe) about the Alabama judge with the 10 Commandments in the courthouse and that he was running for a judgeship again…..and of course all those who keep harping on religion during the election….and some fundamentalist that had to have a say on Mormonism……..

Also the Speaker of the House gave permission for a bunch of religious types to use the Hall at the Capital for a meeting and of course there was the usual suspects mouthing the usual insults and condemnations….but one Rev. got my attention when he said “separation of church and state is communist” (I am paraphrasing)……by using his logic Jefferson, who was a huge proponent of that separation,  was a communist.

We hear all the clap trap from the religious right that has me a bit confused….all the candidates that want you to believe that our Founders wanted this country to be a Christian nation….ONLY!

I think they all believed in God but that was where the religious inferences stopped….contrary to popular belief…..one  can believe in God without being a Christian…..keep in mind that……..check your copy of the Declaration of independence and the US Constitution…….(pause here for reflection)……The word Christ is not mentioned once…..

Thomas Jefferson spent considerable time investigating the Bible and the life of Jesus. He subsequently wrote, The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth, detailing his findings — findings that differ in major ways with typical Christian beliefs.

I found a couple of quotes from our Founders that would have one believe that it might not be too true…..the site is cybercollege.com……..

Want to hear what these people really said?

George Washington – “The father of our country”

The United States is in no sense founded upon the Christian doctrine.

Thomas Jefferson*

I do not find in orthodox Christianity
one redeeming feature. The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the Supreme Being as his Father, in the womb of a virgin will be classified with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter.

Abraham Lincoln –

The Bible is not my book, and Christianity is not my religion. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma.

John Adams –

The divinity of Jesus is made a convenient cover for absurdity. Nowhere in the Gospels do we find a precept for Creeds, Confessions, Oaths, Doctrines, and… foolish trumpery that we find in Christianity.

>>>James Madison (considered the author of the U.S. Constitution)-

During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What has been its fruits? More or less, in all places, pride and indolence in the Clergy, ignorance and severity in the laity; in both superstition, bigotry, and persecution.

Belief in God does not necessarily make one a Christian!

Please…I am NOT saying that these men were not religious….only that they all seem to hold the same belief….and that belief was the separation between church and state.

Let me reiterate something……..Fundamentalists are not friends of democracy. And that includes our fundamentalists in the United States.

Stupidity In America

I have not had much to say of the recent earthquake in Haiti…..because what can we say?…As a survivor of Katrina I feel for the suffering that the Haitian people are going through and I wish them well and their families stay intact……

You have heard all the BS on the airwaves…..the Right wingnuts as well as some on the Left…all are idiots…but there are some that are bigger morons than others…..especially if they are using it for political or financial gain…and then there are the biggest IDIOTS like 700 Club’s Par Robertson:

“And you know, Kristi, something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French, you know, Napoleon the Third and whatever, and they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, ‘We will serve you if you’ll get us free from the French.’ True story. And so the devil said, ‘O.K., it’s a deal.’

“It was bad enough that he said the successful slave revolt came during the reign of “Napoleon III, or whatever” (the Haitian Revolution led by Francois-Dominique Toussaint L’ouverture was in fact completed in 1804 when Napoleon Bonaparte ruled France, 44 years before his nephew Napoleon III came to power). But here in Haiti’s former colonial master, talk about the Robertson “theory” clouds with myth an early if awkward chapter in self-determination: the Haitian slaves are considered the first to collectively and successfully overthrow their colonial masters. In this case, the French.  (As reported in the Christian Science Monitor)

I want on the record as saying that I think this yo-yo is a screaming moron……and if this is God’s doing…that rules out the Merciful God theory altogether……

If this feeble old man does not realize how ignorant he appears then there is a possibility that he needs to be tested for Alzheimer’s…….

The Christian Conservatives Meeting

A meeting is going on in Washington of Christian conservatives among those jockeying for position with this group is Pawlenty, Huckabee, Romney are the biggest names on the bill.  But some are not in attendance like Palin and Newt.  So just how explosive can the meeting be without the two biggest gas bags?

The WaPo is reporting on the meeting:

Conservative activists see exploitable opportunities in Obama’s policies and performance that also can stir more centrist voters, such as suspicions of “big government” and the almost uniquely American skepticism of global warming that prevails in much of the heartland.

“The idea that the healthcare plan takes away choice and freedom, people see their liberties at risk,” said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council (FRC), the conservative Christian lobby group organizing the summit of self-styled “values voters.”

The Family Research Council also claims “Obamacare” will lead to federal funding for abortion — an allegation hotly disputed by the president and his supporters — and Perkins told Reuters on the sidelines of the conference that this issue went “beyond the ranks of the pro-life movement.”

The religious right has been at the forefront of conservative efforts to rally public opposition to climate change legislation aimed at curbing greenhouse gas emissions linked to global warming.

Conservative Christian radio stations have spent the summer saying the legislation’s “cap and trade” provisions would represent the biggest tax increase in U.S. history. That has stoked opposition and could have an impact when the legislation, already passed in the House of Representatives, is considered in the Senate.

Opposition to abortion rights and gay rights long have been leading rallying cries of the religious right, but its activists also tend to follow broader conservative values such as low taxes and support for a strong U.S. military.

The “straw boss” of the straw poll at the meeting comes out as Huckabee and Romney an also ran.  Did Romney lose because he is a Moron?  Or is Huckabee more like the whackos at these meetings?

With all that reported,  there is too much BS in one location.  Like they are afraid of “big government” and they want them out of our lives, but in the same breath want condemnation of gays and abortion, two personal choices.  Hypocrites!

Beyond hypocrites, these dipsticks are LAIRS!  There is NO amendment in the health care bill that would allow for the funding of abortions….BTW it is against the law to use Fed money to pay for abortions….a fact they seem to want to leave out of their rants.  All in all a bunch of dipsticks that believe T. Rex had a saddle.

The whole conservative movement has all the trappings of a Jerry Springer episode….all the sex….all the drama….all back stabbing….and finally all the trainwreck amusement.

That is my take on the hot air coming from the Christian Conservatives meeting.

The Rumble In Jerusalem

Israeli police have had to restore order at one of Christianity’s holiest sites after a mass brawl broke out between monks in Jerusalem’s Old City.

Fighting erupted between Greek Orthodox and Armenian monks at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the traditional site of Christ’s crucifixion.

Two monks from each side were detained as dozens of worshippers traded kicks and punches at the shrine, said police.

Trouble flared as Armenians prepared to mark the annual Feast of the Cross.

Shocked pilgrims looked on as decorations and tapestries were toppled during Sunday’s clash.

Dressed in the vestments of the Greek Orthodox and Armenian denominations, rival monks threw punches and anything they could lay their hands on.

The Greeks blamed the Armenians for not recognising their rights inside the holy site, while the Armenians said the Greeks had violated one of their traditional ceremonies.

An Armenian clergyman said the Greek clergy had tried to place one of their monks inside the Edicule, an ancient structure which is said to encase the tomb of Jesus.

“What is happening here is a violation of status quo. The Greeks have tried so many times to put their monk inside the tomb but they don’t have the right to when the Armenians are celebrating the feast,” he said.

The Armenians had been preparing to commemorate the 4th Century discovery of the cross believed to have been used to crucify Jesus.

A Greek clergyman said: “We protested peacefully, we stood here in the middle and we claimed that we shall not leave the procession finished unless they leave our guardian be inside. This didn’t happen and in that moment the police interfered.”

Six Christian sects share control of the ancient church and the BBC’s Wyre Davies in Jerusalem says confrontations between them are not uncommon, but rarely descend into violence.

And you only thought the Muslims were the silly ones for fighting each other.

Rejects Taboo On Hot Sex

“What’s wrong with married couples having hot and holy sex?” is the question more and more pastors and Christian counselors are posing to believers.

Once regarded as a hush-hush topic in church, sex is increasingly being openly discussed and even promoted by an unlikely ally – Christian pastors. But this effort comes with strings attached – it’s only meant for married couples.

“People carry a lot of guilt from parents who said sex is bad,” said the Rev. Kerry Shook, senior pastor of the 15,600-member Woodlands Church outside Houston, according to ABC news. “We help them (couples) to have a healthy sex life. One of the things we cover in scripture is how to meet each other’s needs in bed.”

Earlier this year, popular emerging church leader Pastor Mark Driscoll of Mars Hill Church in Seattle opened the floor up to questions about sex from the mainly young adult congregation. The open talks were part of his sermon series “Religion Saves and 9 Other Misconceptions.”

During his sermon on sex, birth control and abortion, Driscoll said God didn’t create sex only for procreation, but also for pleasure, comfort and protection within marriage.

“There are books … even from Christians who love Jesus that talk about all the pleasures and joys and the anatomical structure of the body and the ways to please your spouse and to have the most joy,” Driscoll said in response to an attendant’s question about pleasing one’s spouse. “And you know what? I would whole-heartedly encourage it.”
