After some time of breast pounding the Idiot in the White House has started another war…..this time it is with our old nemesis Iran.
The US and Israel launched an attack Saturday on Iran, with the first apparent strike happening near the offices of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iranian media reported strikes nationwide, and smoke could be seen rising from the capital. President Trump said in a video posted on social media that the US had begun “major combat operations in Iran,” the AP reports. He said Iran has continued to develop its nuclear program and plans to develop missiles to reach the US.
- Trump said the US had launched a “massive” operation to “prevent this very wicked radical dictatorship from threatening America,” per the BBC. He acknowledged that there could be American casualties, saying “that often happens in war.”
- “Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime, a vicious group of very hard, terrible people,” Trump said. “Its menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas, and our allies throughout the world.”
- Trump appealed to the Iranian people to “take over your government—it will be yours to take.” “This will be probably your only chance for generations,” he said. “For many years, you have asked for America’s help, but you never got it. No president was willing to do what I am willing to do tonight. Now you have a president who is giving you what you want, so let’s see how you respond.”
- The New York Times reports that US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, say the campaign could last for several days and it will be far more extensive than the strikes that targeted nuclear facilities last year. The sources say dozens of US strikes are being carried out from bases around the Middle East and at least one aircraft carrier.
- It wasn’t immediately clear whether the 86-year-old Khamenei was in his offices at the time of the strike, the AP reports. He hasn’t been seen publicly in days as tensions with the US have grown. The US has assembled a vast fleet of fighter jets and warships in the region.
- An Israeli official tells Reuters that the joint operation had been planned for months and the date of the attack was decided weeks ago. In a statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked Trump for his “historic leadership” and said Israelis will need “endurance and fortitude” in the days ahead, with Iranian counterattacks expected, the BBC reports. “This murderous terrorist regime must not be armed with nuclear weapons that would allow it to threaten all of humanity,” Netanyahu said. Like Trump, he called for regime change, saying, “Our joint action will create the conditions for the courageous Iranian people to take their destiny into their own hands.”
How will this end?
The son of the Shah should be slobbering all over himself for he may get to be boss and make the Iranian people pay for what they did to his father.
Now there is Cuba…..should they be thinking ahead to a possible US strike and conflict?
I Read, I Write, You Know
“lego ergo scribo”
Another US war on behalf of Israel, and Trump claiming it is to defend America from ‘terrorism’. The worst terrorism inflicted on the US were the 9/11 attacks, and they were almost certainly the work of Mossad. Whatever hold/blackmail Israel has over your country must be incredible indeed.
Best wishes, Pete.
Pete as they say “money talks and bullshit walks”…..chuq
The minute.. nah, the second, I heard the news the Cubans shot up a Florida registery boat in their watrs I figured it was Trump’s “Tonkin” solution for jumping onto Cuba.
As is apparent by today’s actions … he has “bigger fish to fry.”
It was my thought as well…..he is planning ahead……chuq
Wonderful news. Liberation of Venezuela, Iran and Cuba – changing the world for global peace and security. Iran is the evil mischief maker, just look at all the ordinance they are shooting everywhere. This great global trouble maker and terrorist financer must be changed and become part of the global community not the remake of a Persian empire and murder of all non Muslims. They are not Arabs, but Persian and rest of Arab world celebrating.
Carl they do not have the right to retaliation as the US has the right? With them gone there will be other sponsors coming out of the woodwork….we are not doing the Iranian people any favors here. chuq
I don’t think the question is “does the US have the right ?” It not a matter of rights but an effort to end the endless destabilization by a murderous regime bent on having the ability to threaten the region and the world with nukes. The hope is to have a new Middle East of peace and cooperation to end terrorism and to stop the determination of Iran regime to recreate a Persian Empire to rule the region with its despotism. Certainly the “let’s be nice to them” of Obama, Kerry, Biden and the like was plain dangerous stupidity. This is a chance for peace and prosperity with an Arab world allied with the US and to create a regional block against Russia, China, stop Iran from using its proxies to terrorize Isreal. The present Iran leadership is an attempt to destroy Western Civilization and all sensible nations as well as looney democrat party should join and celebrate Trump’s effort to redesign the region with hope and peace and security for all. Trump’s Abraham Accords are the foundation. Present Iran regime is not a nation but a ruthless gangster Islamic monster of hate and murder. Certainly the Arab World is hopeful for a new future free of attack and terror.
This is not but a temporary peace….Israel will make sure of that….who will they need the US to protect them from now? chuq
I cannot predict the future but pray for a lasting peace in the region and hope for a new Iran which Trump does not seem to want to punish or isolate but to include it in the region as good neighbors. I can’t imagine Isreal being the instigator of aggression and hope it has security as Iran’s militant proxies dissolve. I sense a vast expression of unity of Arab states allied more intimately with the US. At least the theo-fascist creators of endless turmoil of Iran leadership will be neutralized creating a hopeful environment. I knew several Iranians when I lived in Miami and although they cannot be defined as a macrocosm of Iranians ,they really seemed to be like Americans and live in family oriented enjoyments and everyyday activities like soccer, blue jeans, music, western clothing, the movies and such regular things that typify American society.
Such a cheerful thought…..I hope you are right. chuq
