War Hawks Get Their War

It has been a long time coming.

The day has come…..the day when war hawks and Israel have their way…..Iran’s capital has been hit and now the world waits for the response.

Israel launched air strikes on the Iranian capital Friday night. While the extent of the damage is unclear, the US is expecting Iran to retaliate.

Iranian media reported that some sites in the capital city of Tehran were targeted. A statement from the Israel Defense Forces confirmed the strikes. “In response to months of continuous attacks … The Israel Defense Forces is conducting precise strikes on military targets in Iran,” it said.

According to Axios, the US expects Iran will retaliate. “US and Israeli officials believe Iran will respond militarily,” the outlet reported, adding, “but hope it will be limited and allow the two adversaries to break the tit-for-tat cycle.”

However, the White House is concerned that Iran’s response to Israel will lead to a regional war. An official speaking with the Wall Street Journal confirmed that Tel Avi did inform Washington it was preparing to strike Tehran but did not specify how far in advance Israel warned the US of its plans.

The US claimed Israel’s attack on Iran was an act of self-defense. “We understand that Israel is conducting targeted strikes against military targets in Iran as an exercise of self-defense and in response to Iran’s ballistic missile attack against Israel on October 1st.” National Security Council spokesman Sean Savett continued, “We would refer you to the Israeli government for more information on their operation.”

Last week, top-secret US intelligence documents provided some details of Israel’s preparations to strike Iran.

Over the past year, the Middle East has moved closer to an all-out regional war as Israel has attacked several neighboring countries, conducted assassinations throughout the region, and slaughtered Palestinians.

On October 1, Iran attacked military sites in Israel with nearly 200 missiles in response to Tel Aviv killing Hamas’s political leader in Tehran and assassinating Hezbollah’s leader in Beirut. Tel Aviv has been vowing retaliation for the Iranian attack throughout the month. Tehran has said it will respond to any Israeli attack.

Just before Israel attacked Iran on Friday, the US moved fighter jets from Europe to the Middle East.

In the leadup to the Israeli strike on Iran, Tel Aviv requested the deployment of an American THAAD air defense system. The White House granted the request, and now 100 American soldiers are manning the system in Israel, making them a potential target for any Iranian response.

Precise airstrikes on military targets?   You mean like schools and hospitals?

The White House is concerned?  What total bullshit….they made this possible war inevitable.

And now Israel and the US War Hawks have their war with Iran….and the world awaits the response.

Not to worry the “Dump” will appear later today.

  1. Everyone knows that Israel would never have escalated to this level without the complete backing of the USA. Let’s hope that Biden/Blinken are held to account if Americans die as a result.

    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. If schools and hospitals are being commandeered by the enemy then schools and hospitals are fair targets. Fortunes of war. And the United States is nowhere near responsible for these wars among these kinds of nations because they have been blood thirsty savages from time immemorial.

    1. We supply the guns and the tech training….we are responsible….those are convenient excuses for indiscriminate killing….and once again not what the post was about. chuq

  3. You do not defend yourself withan action taken days or even weeks after someone attacks you- that is retalliation not defence. It’s time the U.S. pulled the plug on weapons for Israel until Israel agrees to conduct btheir war in a way which protects civilians. They either comply or face the music of their actions alone. Any war is provoked by politicians not by the public, yet the public suffer while politicians hide at home. Neither America nor the rest of the World needs yet another war to fill the pockets of the weapons manufacturers. Hugs

  4. If it were me,

I would take a clear position on this escalating conflict. First and foremost, I believe the U.S. should not be involved in foreign conflicts where our own soil and sovereignty aren’t directly at stake. Getting entangled in a fight between Israel and Iran is the last thing we need, especially when our involvement only risks escalating tensions and pulling us into a regional war.

I also fully support the right of any nation, including Israel and Iran, to defend itself. Yet, there’s a fine line between self-defense and unilateral aggression. When Israel strikes Iran unprovoked, it risks appearing less as self-defense and more as an offensive move that could only add fuel to an already volatile situation.

On top of that, history has taught us the dangers of “blowback.” By putting American military assets and personnel in harm’s way, we’re inviting retaliation that could put American lives at risk, dragging us even deeper into the Middle East conflict. I believe we should avoid actions that could inadvertently provoke hostilities directed at the U.S., especially when there are alternatives.

Instead of military escalation, I think the U.S. should focus on diplomatic solutions. We should be pushing for peace negotiations rather than fueling the fire with arms sales or military deployments. Israel and Iran deserve to have their sovereignty respected, and the best role we can play is to advocate for peace through diplomacy, not military entanglements.

    1. I have been preaching that for decades….think back to the 1980s and Beirut….shows what can happen when we put ourselves in the middle of things. chuq

      1. Well Libertarian principles do not reflect my views 100 percent and neither do any of the other parties so I am in a real fix….everybody seems to have SOME good ideas but not all ideas are good ones — so I am torn….
