“We Are Not At War”

I realize that politicians have a way of skirting the truth when it suits them…..but I really hate when these same politicians blow smoke up my butt…..and Biden did just that in a recent speech….

President Biden falsely claimed in an address to the nation that the US was not at war.

“I’m the first president in this century to report to the American people that the United States is not at war anywhere in the world,” the president said.

About a half hour before Biden delivered his address, US Central Command announced that it launched new strikes targeting the Houthis in Yemen. Since January, the US has carried out hundreds of strikes in Yemen as part of a new war that has not been authorized by Congress.

US naval commanders have described the fight against the Houthis in the Red Sea as the largest naval battle the US has been engaged in since World War II. Back in April, US military officials said the munitions used in the Red Sea and other bombings Biden ordered in Iraq and Syria since October 7 had cost the US about $1 billion.

The US has also been involved in combat operations against ISIS remnants in Iraq and Syria. Earlier this month, CENTCOM said it had been involved in 196 partnered operations in both countries in the first half of 2024. US troops deployed in Syria are not welcomed by the government, making it an illegal military occupation.

At the end of 2023 and the beginning of this year, the US was fighting Shia militias based in Iraq that began targeting US bases in response to the US support for the Israeli onslaught in Gaza. In January, three US troops were killed in a drone attack on Tower 22, a secretive base in Jordan near the Syrian border.

The US launched multiple rounds of airstrikes against the Shia militias, which are part of Iraq’s security forces. The bombings enraged the Iraqi government, which asked the US to withdraw, and now the two sides are negotiating the future of the US presence.

The US has also bombed Somalia multiple times this year to support the Mogadishu-based government against al-Shabaab. The US also launched an airstrike that it said targeted ISIS in Somalia back in May.

But ‘we are not at war’…..I guess his definition of war is different from mine….but then that is what crooked politicians do….making up a reality and sell it to idiots.

Just on a whim I wanted to know how many American ships had been targeted and so far I found one…..there may be more but I found only a single incident.

I want to know why it falls on the US to police the shipping lanes when our flagged ships are not a major target.

Must we protect the whole goddamn world?

  1. this nonsense is reminding me of Vietnam, which wasn’t a “war” either, it was a “police action” or some utterly ridiculous garbage like that. Of course no one paid any attention to that and finally even the government ended up just calling it what it was, a war.

    what I’d like to know is what the eff happened to the Constitution?

    Only Congress can “declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;

    To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;

    To provide and maintain a Navy;

    To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

    To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

    To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress”

    But now it seems the president can unilaterally order military strikes against foreign governments on his own authority?

    1. Sadly the Constitution is nothing more than a political prop rolled out when needed…..these days disgust me. chuq

  2. He should perhaps have said ‘undeclared war’, but I cannot recall any period in my lifetime when the USA was not involved in military action somewhere on the planet. As for being the ‘World Police’, I think every American president since Truman has seen that as his remit.

    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. You’re right, Pete, calling them military actions. It takes Congress to declare war, so since Kennedy, presidents have found words such as ‘police action’ to ‘operation’ to get our boots on the ground, planes in the air and money flowing freely out of the country!

    2. Sadly when I was born there was no war….but by the timeline was 5 we were at it again and it has never stopped in over 70 years. chuq

  3. We certainly are at war every moment of every day esp in cyberspace . Russia, China, N Korea and Iran (and all the terrorist groups) aim for the destruction of America. The war against Israel is an attempt to destroy it so they can get the US out of the region. When that happens we get no oil. This is esp problematic because the green left and Biden’s accomplices are bent on elimination our fossil fuel industry and we will no longer be energy independent as Trump in his vision arranged. “Palestinam home land” issue is a mere ruse to misdirect their war against America concerns. We are attacked by these enemies in cyperspace daily and FBI reports it and directs security apparatus to stop it and rectify damage. However it is a never ending cat and mouse game, No Joe, we aren’t sending doughboys over there (in France). The war is invisible and denied by green left and complicit elected dems. We also have opened the US to millions of undocumented aliens with no background check, no criminal record check, no medical records, no employment or education papers. They don’t even have legitimate birth certificates. The flood gates have been opened allowing our enemies to establish an “in country”army of enemies to strike our internal everything. Then of course there’s the war with the drug cartels. They are winning and have established labs, distrubution, production, criminal evasion and money laundering in every city in America . They also recruit our young people to become addicted and be the street corner salesmen for thier deadly products. Yes we certainly are at war and our denial is more fearful than the actual damage planned. 30,000 Chinese “migrants” have not come here to open laundry stores or to make shrimp rolls either.

    1. Israel is destroying itself and the US is feeding their destruction…I think Palestinians would disagree with you….the war on drugs is a failure and it’s only purpose is to get cash….wasted time and money….but no one cares. chuq

      1. I don’t think Hamas, Hezebola, Hooties care one bit for Palestinian homeland. Doesn’t matter for they just want to kill Jews. If a homeland is created which countries will give up territory ? If a homeland is created won’t that just become another Gaza from which to rocket Israel ? Then the ceasefire joke: how could Isreal have a ceasefire with people who want to exterminate them all ? How would a two-state “solution” stop Iran from funding its proxies from killing Jews ? Just asking questions. I don’t have any idea how to bring peace.

      2. And Jews care nothing for the lives of Palestinians…..you mean like the Jews are doing now? Israel never intended for there to be a 2 state solution….chuq

  4. We are all armchair strategists and diplomats at best… and we are good at that role only because we have NO idea what the hell goes on behind the scenes to spawn some of these seemingly ludicrous decisions to engage our military somewhere. Hence we are unencumbered with knowing the full story or context and therefore we can easily insert our personal biases and moral constructs. We tend to fill in the blanks of what we don’t know with elements of faulty humanity that we do know exist, like craving power, money, prestige, political gain, personal gain, etc. From there we assign conspiracy theories that are a composite of being brought up with Hollywood and real life indictments and trials of actual people who have indeed fallen from grace because of moral temptations. I look at a map of how our forces are distributed around the world and more often than not I mutter to myself, “What the hell are we doing there and what made us decide to go there?” in a half dozen of those locations.

    Now we are at a point where if there is a trouble spot we send in the Marines or Delta Force/Hollywood elite group of the moment…. and when the first U.S. soldier dies in whatever the situation was there, it’s now a “war” in civilian terms, or a “conflict” in political terms. I don’t know that we have to get involved with everything in the world, but maybe the “war” we fight is the one that keeps the U.S. a measure of an economic and strategic stabilizing force through an application of political diplomacy and military presence. The ultimate price some of our soldiers pay is in preserving that dual policy.. and far less about the “glory” of dying on some remote battlefield waving the flag in some frontal assault trying to save democracy and Auntie Em’s farm in Kansas.

    I guess I am suggesting that each place where we are as a nation there is a story to research as to the reasons we ended up there. The other option is more a Trumpian one… close down all our foreign bases, bring the troops home, and let the world go to hell because we think we are insulated by two oceans.

    1. How do we know it will go to Hell? What makes us think we are a stabilizing force? I have some idea fort I work with the State Department in the past….but some specifics are not in my wheelhouse. But I do knw how it works. chuq
