The “Dear Leader” Phenom

Closing Thought–26Jul18

For those of us with a full functioning brain have always tried to make sense of the voting habits of our fellow citizens……sometimes it is forefront another times it is more covert.

These days covert that needs explaining.

It amazes me….I said amazes…..for nothing about the Rights fascination with Our Dear Leader surprises me.  You see the GOP in Congress have been a spineless pack for decades…just their true colors finally came through.

Then his supporters…..they can see nothing about the man that irks them…..even when he screws Veterans…..or the farmers with his tariffs….or when he is caught with a hooker and then a tape of his conversation about covering it up with his lawyer….they say it is alleged.  Trump was right when he said he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue on TV and get away with it….at least with the slugs that support his brand of authoritarianism.

Can there be anyway to explain why these people are so enamored with a slug of a person?

Some say neuroscience could explain it……

In the past, some prominent psychologists have explained President Donald Trump’s unwavering support by alluding to a well-established psychological phenomenon known as the “Dunning-Kruger effect.” The effect is a type of cognitive bias, where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they don’t have enough knowledge to know they don’t have enough knowledge. Or, stated more harshly, they are “too dumb to know they are dumb.” This simple but loopy concept has been demonstrated dozens of times in well-controlled psychology studies and in a variety of contexts. However, until now, the effect had not been studied in one of the most obvious and important realms—political knowledge.

new study published in the journal Political Psychology, carried out by the political scientist Ian Anson at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, not only found that the Dunning-Kruger effect applies to politics, it also appears to be exacerbated when partisan identities are made more salient. In other words, those who score low on political knowledge tend to overestimate their expertise even more when greater emphasis is placed on political affiliation.

WAIT!  That is science and we know what those mental midgets on the Right think of science……don’t we?

This is the one that I would read if I were you:

After Note:  According to all these experts Dear Leader’s brain should be melted and running out his ears…..let Congress pass a bill that states that all presidents to be tested for mental disorders before they are sworn in….HAhahahaha!  Sorry I just realized the anything like that would take courage and the Congress has shown that courage is in short supply among the spineless we elect.

      1. The President had nothing to do with it. He was a candidate when it is supposed to have taken place. The tapes is so garbled as to be inconclusive. What is shameful is the Leftist’s willingness to promote the scandal at any cost in order to embarrass the President when they should be working in concert with the President to move the American agenda forward. But they won’t because they are too eaten up with their hatred of him.

    1. I wonder if the Veterans are still getting those retirement benefits and welfare checks? If they are then the President is still doing his job and needs to be appreciated rather than reviled.

      1. Why so down on veterans….you are one right? Besides John the link has little to do with the president and everything to do with a slug belittling a vet….. Sorry GP had to bounce in….chuq

  1. People have enjoyed being led by a strong leader since the dawn of man. They forgive him any foibles if he speaks what they are thinking, and seems to get results. Well, half the people, anyway. 🙂 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. when he is caught with a hooker and then a tape of his conversation about covering it up with his lawyer….they say it is alleged. —- I hate to bust your bubble, but THE PRESIDENT has never been caught with a hooker and even if he was, then what about the other presidents (15 of them) who had their own illicit affairs? This may be true of “Candidate” Trump but it has never been true of President Trump whom the Left hates so much they cannot contain their propensity to spin lies.

  3. I have seen that theory before and it is interesting. The earlier theory was that people who have authoritarian personalities are the main Trump supporters. Both theories are interesting and I am sure both apply to some extent. But 63,000,000 people could not have those two disorders. Although a lot of them do.

    1. Those were FYI or people trying to find rhyme or reason……there is a test that would prove the point……but no one would say it was accurate….chuq

  4. I’m barely old enough to remember a time when most stupid people just kept their damn mouths shut, largely out of fear of being called a “retard”. Maybe this is partially a Canadian “modesty” thing….But aside from their personal areas of expertise/talent (mechanical repair, farming, etc) The Stupids were still smart enough to shut up, listen and maybe learn some things. Sadly, those days are long gone.

Thanks to the “Precious Little Snowflake” bull-mess that’s reduced education to “Just show up and you’ll pass, even if you can’t spell your own name”…and the related removal of insensitive terms like “retard” from the vocabulary…No longer is there any punishment, or stigma, associated with utter stupidity. “You’re all fantastic just the way you are…(You fucking little morons.)” So why not celebrate it?

The Interweb-pipes has expanded this exponentially. Every fucktard with an Interweb connection (and every fucktard has one in their hand all day long) can get their imbecilic, fact-free, illogical, “ideas” validated by people just as empty-skulled as they are. That, or be encouraged by the ever-growing number of people eager to take advantage of them for economic and political reasons.

Stupidity has become a key part of the economy and politics. Anybody who doesn’t see this also isn’t as smart as they think they are.

    1. The only way to solve that problem is to have requirements for voting to keep the stupid people from voting. How do you think we should go about that? In 1790s only property owners could vote. Now a lot of smart people live in apartments. Cut off at a certain income level maybe. Or bring proof of assets above a minimum level. That sounds better.

      1. Actually, I think that’s kind of been happening on a voluntary basis for decades. Only about half the US population votes for the top elected office. It’s much lower the further “down ballot” you get and lower still in non-Presidential election years. Every indication is that this non-voting 50% is made up of The Poors and The Stupids.

What does it say about the population’s intelligence level when this is what “the smartest half” comes up with? At some point…and pretty damn soon…we have to stop manufacturing stupidity or we’ll just implode. The Elites have all but written us off as it is.

    2. It is not a Canada thing….they were smart enough down here until Clinton was president then they started out of the shadows and kept coming…..chuq

  5. Look at the creatures over which the left swoons: Hillary, Elizabeth, Ocasio-Cortez Kamala Harris and Bernie. Who’s stupid ? No thanks. I’ll go with the deplorables and Trump.

    1. I prefer people that can tell me there positions without a lie and the use of adverbs……I prefer people that can wipe their asses without hurting themselves….I would never vote for a deplorable…..ever chuq
