Why This Year’s Presidential Election Is So Depressing?

14 days and counting….14 weary days of endless immature rantings by both candidates……

The answer is easy……

Some voters are thrilled with the choices they have…..Me?  I am just thoroughly disgusted that these two d/bags are the best we can do for the presidency…..in reality you have other choices but if you exercise your right and the “chosen” one losses then it will be YOUR fault for not holding to party line and voting that way…..

Why is this election such a bummer for some of us?

William J. Astore: Trump and Hillary: one a Nero, one an Imperator. Both American exceptionalists, both believers in the military, both willing to wield big sticks while never speaking softly. Yes, I find that depressing.

This year’s presidential election is depressing.  I suppose Trump and Hillary supporters are fired up.  They want to see “their” candidate win.  But for me, I wish a pox on both their houses, even as I hope the eventual winner is not as bad as he or she appears to be.

I think that most voters are not thrilled with their candidates but most are too timid to admit it….and will either stay home or drag themselves off to the voting booth and pick the candidate that does not smell the worse.

I am beyond playing the game that society wants me to play…..that I must choose between the 2 major parties…..I will vote principles not popularity.

What about you?

  1. Thank you for articulating this predicament so clearly. Like you, I will have to vote my values and sincerely hope that enough others will do likewise, too.

    1. You are welcome and I am glad you liked it…we can only hope…I will be writing more on the GP as the vote gets closer….chuq

  2. Another good post, my friend. I have to admire your steadfastness in voting your conscience rather than by referral to another’s beliefs.

At the same time, I can only state my own reason for being depressed about it all, which is the sense of futility that permeates the entire process, start to end, and everything in between. Every bit of it has been more evidence of all that is WRONG on this planet, played out right before my very eyes, to the point I am convinced that 99% of the people on this planet couldn’t think their way out of a fucking paper bag.

I’m not voting this year, because it only encourages them, and none of it matters, in a very real sense. None of it WILL matter, until those who refuse to think have either gone to their just reward, or come to enough sense to throw the few necessary assholes causing all the trouble into a hot fire.

Me, I’m just ducking and weaving, and trying not to waste my time on stuff that I can’t deal with myself.

    gigoid, the dubious

  3. Why can’t “Americans” who claim to be a free people not vote the right choice when clearly given one? Why can’t they give the magic middle finger to the tDrumpf and Killer Ray and vote for Jill Stein? It’s not like she’s hiding or difficult to find. I imagine that in a country as screwed, corrupted and twisted as “America” Jill Stein’s name must still be on the ballots? Or is it a completely two-party totalitarian tatterocracy now?
