Illegal? Irrational? Irrelevant? Obama’s Isis address falls down on every front | World news | theguardian.com

The speech has been made…..and a number of people like me see it as a nice little speech with very little substance…….

This is a take down of the speech line by line….an interesting read…….

War has come and now is the time for Americans to realize just what they are getting themselves into before it is too late….if it is not already.

  1. I have read all the sentences highlighted in yellow and now my question is “What is the purpose of the highlighting and what is wrong with the words that were highlighted?” I am ready to learn something here.

    1. They were pointing out just what was said and how it is effecting the situation……basically just analyzing each line……some good points and some not so good…

      1. If Obama had not made the speech he would have been criticized for not being open or transparent or for a massive failure in leadership and since he did make the speech I am sure there are plenty of people who fight their wars from the safety of their arm chairs who will be critical of any action he takes or any statement he makes. I would not want the job of being President of The United States.

      2. Oh I agree…he was screwed as soon as he authorized the airstrikes…..I am one of those I guess….but I want the American people to ask questions about war since it effects a low percentage…..to me it was vague and along the talking points…..my first impulse was to ask just who are these Syrian opposition? sounds good but who are they?

Like my first post on the speech I asked numerous questions that are gnawing at me…..http://lobotero.com/2014/09/11/congrats-we-are-going-to-war-again/

All valid questions…we should never go to war and not ask questions….

      3. This continuing war is against an enemy that might never have materialized if Bush and Company had kept their noses out of Iraq in the first place . . . Iraq . . . Iraq that had absolutely nothing to do with the attacks on America on Septembere 1, 2001 – – Iraq . . a war based on a lying premise . . .We really angered a lot of Muslim People when we invaded their land . . .and I will never be convinced of anything else other than that ISIS is only part and parcel of a gift given to us by The Bush Administration – – a gift that will keep on giving for a long time to come if we don’t do something about it now . . .

      4. If you read my other piece then I asked airstrikes are good but no victory without troops on the ground….where will those come from? Just who will step up and do what is needed….me thinks NO ONE.

If ISIS is to be defeated then I fear it will be up to the US, as usual.

      5. Maybe we ought to send in some of those “Patriot” militias that went to the Bundy Ranch . . they are big and bad and well armed aren’t they?

      6. Yea that oughta scare the pants off ISIS…..a bunch of pasty white boys that cannot find their ass with both hands and a flashlight….LOL

      7. and who scatter like frightened rabbits at the first rumor of being targeted for a drone strike . . LOL

      8. and there are right wad a**holes who think that these robo-nerds with ak-47s and ar-15s and all-terrain vehicles with their women and children leading the charge are the hope of America’s secure future. Can you believe how damn dense some right-leaning condomsniffers can be?
