I’m not sure that cartoon is making light of a reality. Plenty of conservatives were disappointed with George W. Bush, and made that disappointment public. Pat Buchanan comes to mind.
The difference, however, is that while some conservatives were very critical of Bush, they were not consorting with dictators like Hugo Chavez.

Back in the 60’s and 70’s if you did not think like the guy next door…..then you heard that statement over and over…..
