It was not as long of a night as I had anticipated……Romney gave his concession speech at 2355 hrs CT on 06Nov12……..and with that….what can we say?

That my friends is the sound of the right wing asses slammin’ shut. And if you listen close enough after awhile you will hear tears dropping into their beers….and a sad chorus in the key of failure. Okay that is my little bout of gloating……..onward!
We all heard days before the election that it was almost too close to call and in some quarters there was the prediction that Mitt would win handily….let’s look at that……
Vote totals…..Obama– 52.1 million Romney–51 million (vote totals are rounded off) (Totals not final)……….sadly, this means nothing!
Then there were some that it would be a win for Obama in the electoral college and a win for Romney in the popular vote……
Electoral College (Not a final tally)……..Obama– 303 Romney–206
Thank God it is over and all the lies, misinformation and bullshit is behind the country….of course that is wishful thinking on my part….now we will hear the excuses and the blame from the loser……and it should be almost immediate….there will be those politicos jockeying for position in 2016..,..watch for who writes a book on a plan to ‘save’ the country from itself…..they will be the candidates to start…..
After all the 100’s of millions of dollars….probably closer to billions when added up……..the race ended where it was in May of 2012…….so was it worth it? Was it worth all the cash the Rove et al threw into the campaigns?….was it really worth it?
Now the country will move on to getting solutions to our problems…….(pause here for the pain to subside from all the raucous laughter)………..I wish I could convince myself that this will make governing more responsive…..but alas….I do not think anything will change…..there may be a short respite from the insults and bullshit….but it will return and we will once again be a silly people fighting over bullshit with no answers……
Then there will be Washington…..the crap barrel of American politics……NOTHING will change…it will continue to be the broken system it has been in the last decade…….about the only good thing that has come out of this election is……the people in the battleground states will finally get some peace of mind……
Soon the media, both liberal and conservative, will return to slinging crap at each other…….so……
NOTHING will change…………….. period!

Your reflection sounds like you have hope things will change but believe they will stay the same. I think they will stay the same only because the D’s control the Senate and the R’s control the House. The operative word is control..none of them want to actually work things out, they just want to blame each other for the gridlock which will probably now get worse.Neither group wants to compromise or start in the middle, find common ground and work from there.

Romney lost for probably many reasons, but three stand out in my mind: (1) Romney never satisfied questions regarding his opposition to the auto-bailout; (2) Romney didn’t connect with most voters; and (3) the Republican Party refuses to accept that the demographic has changed. We need Latinos on our side. Romney would be President-elect if he had pulled in 44% of the Latino vote, like Bush did. Bush was moderate on immigration, some may even say liberal. He connected with Latinos. Romney was too stringent because he needed to be in the primary. The Republican Party has been overrun by radicals.
And you’re right that nothing will change. Republicans managed to retain control of the House. It’s the same song and dance as the last two-years.

Terrance, the GOP needs to take a look at the demographics…..Mitt maybe be the LAST baby boomer to be nominated….well only if they want to move the party forward…
I know it. We have to start appealing to women, younger voters, and Hispanics if we expect to have a future as conservative Republicans.
And appealing to women doesn’t necessarily require giving up our strong pro-life commitment. The country is evenly divided on abortion, depending on the context in which the question is raised. Most people do not support abortion but in certain circumstances, such as rape and life of the mother. The Republican Party needs to distance itself from nutjobs that actually believe abortion should be prohibited even if the woman is dying. That’s simply crazy. A sensible pro-life approach wouldn’t harm us among women because more women are pro-life than men. Attend a local Right to Life meeting and you’ll see what I mean.
Similarly, appealing to Hispanics doesn’t necessarily mean we have to open the boarder as if it were a floodgate. We should grant amnesty to illegals who currently reside in the county, reform our immigration policy so people have an easier time making it to the United States easily, and continue to support the building of a fence. What we don’t want to do is pass asinine laws like that in Alabama. Remember that one? Stupid. Or the one in Arizona that racially profiles.
So we can still be Republican while appealing to women and Hispanics. It’s simply a matter of retooling our policies in a way that is conservative but humane.
I relieved it was decisive victory. The bigger news is, both Colorado and Washington state legalized marijuana. I’ll smoke to that!
Don’t forget the many same sex referendums, most notably the one in Maine….
Spending on this election is over $6 billion. Ouch! At least the results were without the courts.
Meanwhile, I’m with you that odds favor more gridlock. Curiosity got the best of me this morning … I tuned into Fox & Friends, but could only handle about 10 minutes. Then I heard the statements from leaders Boehner and McConnell, which delivered more of the same.

The debate about the budget/increasing the debt ceiling should be interesting because now Obama has nothing to lose..he can’t run for the Presidency again and I don’t see him giving the GOP everything they want, like he did last time…..at least according to Bohner he got everything he wanted..remember him saying that and gloating about it on TV?
