Is The GOP Extreme?

College of Political Knowledge

Subject:  Political Theory

We hear almost daily of the extremists on both sides of the spectrum……mostly because of their strands on certain issues….but really the definition of extremism is….any political theory favoring immoderate uncompromising policies…..let me say that again………any political theory favoring immoderate uncompromising policies….now if you understand what that means, then I ask again….Is the GOP extreme?

What would you call a statement made by the GOP leadership in the House, when they say that tax increases are OFF the table….or he they say that the Congress knows what is the problem and that they should address it……but the problem that they harp on is the one and only problem of their choosing….there is NO flexibility in their words……they are saying basically that it is their way or there is NO way to solve the problems of the country.

I realize that some of this is just political posturing and rhetoric for the 24/7 news cycle….but recent votes have shown that it is a prevailing ideology in the Congress ….that of extremism…any political theory favoring immoderate uncompromising policies…….has anything that Congress has done in the past couple of years indicated any form of compromise?

Conservatism is a political or theological orientation advocating the preservation of the best in society and opposing radical changes……I understand that but (there is always a but) compromise is NOT radical change, ergo the GOP as it is today is an extremist ideology….at least in the rhetoric of their leaders.

My conserv friends will not necessarily agree with me and I understand why…but they need to get a grip on their leadership and return to the way of governance that the founders intended…….go back to the days when ALL reps had the same feeling…that we must work together to solve our problems…..if not then we are traveling in the direction of political ruin.

(just thought I would point out just how “argumentum ad hominem” could be employed)
