AmTrak Is Looking Better

Today is Sunday, my last day of  Zen before I return to the world of nonsense….most people call it politics….I have calmed my excitement of a royal wedding to the point of total boredom….and now for something completely different (thanx Monty Python)…….

Back in the Dark Ages (that is another post) when I got out of the military I had a major operation……they removed an airplane from my ass!  since leaving the employ of the military I have had to travel and unfortunately it has required that I take a plane to the various destinations…..I have never found flying a particularly joyous way to travel….most times there was screaming child or some person with a cough that would not end or that rotund person who could not sleep without sounding like a rhino in heat….the only saving grace was the appearance of those cute little bottles of bourbon that after enough consumption would dull the senses and allow I to sit back and make the flight out committing some crime…like giving alcohol to a minor or suffering that oversexed rhino…..

To say that flying was worse than a root canal would be an understatement…..but in today’s world it is even more horrendous than in the days gone by…..first of all, almost all services now will cost more than the original ticket….but now I have to pay to anesthetize myself from the rhino, the child and the TB patient….but beyond that I am expected to pay more for the others amenities of flying….like a good grope from TSA or those cute drunk pilots or sleeping traffic controls and then there are the accidents of planes running over each other on the tarmac and let us not forgot the many close calls of planes in the air….but what really put the icing on the cake was the fact that planes regularly lose part of the fuselage while in flight…..I mean I appreciate a convertible, just not on the plane I travel…..

Now with all the “perks” that come with flying are overshadowed by their greed and their devil may care attitude toward the passenger….my vote is for AmTrak….at least on the train if it must fall it does not have far to go and my chances of not spoiling a good buzz is much better….AmTrak is looking better!
