Well Said, Keith!

I had a post along the same lines and just wanted all to hear what Olbermann had to say in his special comment section of his show…..He is spot on and well said.

The media is still all over Obama and his admin for the incident…….where is the godd*mn outrage at the character assassination by a yellow journalist?  Where is the f*cking outrage at some malignant politico that has NO remorse for destroying an innocent persons life?  If these self-absorb morons that call themselves journalist cannot bring themselves to fight the political a/holes on the fringes then they need to retire and let “real” journalist have their jobs.

Some of these politics like to think themselves informed are nothing more than agents of the partisanship that they all bitch about……THEY ARE ALL COWARDS!

  1. Actually, although it’s essential that corporations own at least a large part of the media (simply because there is no other realistic way of doing it and you need a media that is NOT beholden to the administration), in some ways a free and independent media WITH INTEGRITY is essential to democracy. Without that, nothing will ever work…

Personally, I think I’m in favour of banning foreigners from owning national news channels and (as with the UK system) having a strong set of “public service broadcast” channels that are also independent (fiercely independent in the case of the BBC) of government. It’s not a guarantee of unbiased reporting, but it does keep everyone on their toes and does a lot to improve quality all round.

As in so many other spheres, I think that a strong and efficiently run “public” (publicly owned and independently run by and for the people) competitor in an otherwise free market is an enormously good influence and near perfect regulator simply by its very nature and existence…

One question does come to mind over this whole affair, though… if Obama was NOT black himself (and therefore at risk of charges of partisanship), might he have done more to step in and question this at the start and demand that checks be made before this unfortunate woman was despatched to Hades?

    1. It appears that he could not have won no matter what was done…..he was quick to pull the trigger or he was dragging his feet…he was screwed no matter what was done…and personally, I think that was the desired outcome….it was gonna be used to trash the Prez…..and in that case it was very successful.

  2. I don’t think anything Olbermann says is well-said. He’s a left-wing Sean Hannity — a grenade throwing hack that refuses to look at a lot of the facts. He is from the same network that sought to stoke the fires of racism by editing a Tea Party video to make it seem like white people were carrying assault rifles and getting heated at Obama. He then takes aim at a network that eats his lunch in terms of ratings, while grouping the rest that also aired this story in a quick aside, as a pretty-obvious attempt to try to discredit and hurt them instead of focusing purely on the issue.

    He’s a half-truth-speaking @$$, and shouldn’t be taken seriously… even if he has a point once in a while.

    1. Sorry that you dislike KO….I think that this time he was spot on……the issue that everyone is focusing on is the speed which action was taken…not the hatch job some one did to an innocent person…..that is journalistic garbage no matter which side of the political aisle it comes from….is Hannity a half truth speaking a/hole?

This is the problem in the US and the system of politics that is sad…….each side will not talk to each other…they prefer to snipe at each other….there is NO meaningful debate any more….just name calling, insults, lies and other forms of modern political discourse….

I have attended a few Tea Party events and there is some that are that hateful and racist….I have tried to ask questions of them and could not get any substantial answers to what it is that they are angry about…other than Obama himself…..but of course I live in Mississippi…a hot bed of low info voters.

      1. I guess I agree with you both – I’m generally not keen on grenade throwers whichever side of the divide they are from (and Fox News as far as I can tell useus nothing else).

However, in this case it appears that he is for once at least entirely right and it was important that someone – ANYONE – stood up and said so.

The sad truth is that you can’t believe a f*cking word you hear or read in the media these days – very, very specifically in the US, though it’s wise to take what’s broadcast with a pinch of salt almost everywhere.

But then this is indicative of one of my big complaints about modern “health and safety” conscious, litigation minded, “nanny state”, protect the consumer society. It does little to really protect or guarantee anything, but does much to allay ordinary people’s natural and VERY healthy scepticism – and THAT is very, very BAD!

With people BELIEVING the sh*t they get from the media, we’re all of us in deep trouble.

How is all this bullshit so very different from the wild fantasy world of Kim Jon-il that keeps his people in total ignorance of reality and allows him to convince them they live in one of the most progressive countries in the world?

  3. Am I the only one that sees this for what it is? Character assassination! We complain about O’Reilly or Olbermann or Hannity or whoever…but nothing is said about the “journalist” that gave the doctored vid to the media….why is that?

    1. Because Breitbart is no journalist. He’s an ideologue with an agenda. Instead of reporting the facts, he makes up his own news. Typical of so many ratings-hungry also-rans.

      1. True. Actually, I suspect many of the them do just that anyway – it’s just that the more cynical and less paranoid do it better and slightly less obviously.

      2. Exactly! I have a real problem with this type of journalism….that is why when I see a story that interests me….I check the facts before I go with it. I believe that is the only way to learn what is happening ….to NOT take anyone’s word for it.
